Guardian pod-cast

10:30 for those wanting to go straight to the Liverpool v Saints bit... focused on Saints at about 13:06 for all of about 30 seconds...

What would be the fun of that?

As someone who listened to their podcast during our ascent up the leagues, that is infinitely more coverage than we used to get. Normally confined to the end of the season when announcing promotions, etc.

They talk about two sorts of clubs at any length there; big clubs or joke clubs. We're neither atm.

Any liklihood of further SaintsWeb pods, they were pretty good?

Difficult to co-ordinate, unfortunately, since I moved to London. Baj has a recording studio set up in a room in his house, which is where we used to record them, but it's difficult (not to mention expensive) to carry on with that if I have to travel down on a weeknight to record it. We could look at some sort of Skype-based recording, but the sound quality on that is notoriously unreliable.

Miles better than any other I have come across.

Sunday Supplement is sometimes a decent podcast to listen to as well.

Have you tried the Football Ramble? I personally like the Guardian's, the Times is ruined by Marcotti being annoying but the contributors (except for Cascarino) are excellent. However the Ramble is quality, big following and 4 chaps that know their football and are pretty funny too. Don't expect much about Saints, more for football fans in general that like a laugh and genuine knowledge, if you want Saints stuff there is one out there focused on us which is OK(ish). I've listened to a few other clubs one's just to see what they are like, the best by a mile is the Tuesday Club (Arsenal's with Alan Davies), properly funny imo and listened to by supporters of loads of clubs.

I spend a lot of time on the train......

A comment on The Guardian newspaper which also seems interested only in matches that feature clubs from three cities, London, Liverpool and Manchester. No report in yesterday's paper of Southampton v Bristol. Maybe the editor of The Guardian thinks the paper only sells in those three cities and isn't interested in serving the cities of Southampton and Bristol despite the combined population of about three-quarters of a million. Seems rather short-sighted, and I for one won't be buying The Guardian on a Monday knowing they can't be bothered to cover Saints' games except when playing a side from one of their favoured places, and even then the report will be from the other team's viewpoint.

To be fair to the Guardian they don't have a huge amount of resources. Hardly anyone buys it, less than 190k a day which is shockingly low (only the Indy sells less with about 70k a day). They do a superb job with their loss making website though, get match reviews up there straight away and their main sports writers are decent. Selling so few papers simply means they have to rely on PA match reports for most games.

Shame. They were decent. We could have got some posters to answer questions about saints on the phone that would have been interesting to see how people expressed themselves when not on the forum.

The Guardian is my favorite pod of the week, always my first listen. Philipe Auclair (the French chap on this weeks) has a lot of love for us, mentioned us a few weeks ago too. Most of the decent journos like us TBF, ever since we came back up to the PL many have been clamouring about the way we play football and were all very glad to see us stay up.

It's definitely my favourite footy podcast. It does to through the occasional period of low quality, but is excellent at its best. Oddly enough, the one I've least respect for (but is still affable) enough is the one who took his wife's name. My bro-in-law did that and you'll never meet a more whipped boy in your life.
