um pahars Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Sounds very ****5ed off and scathing of some players who are not motivated and says that is wrong. Says we have to motivate them and that's not right as they should be doing that themselves. Says the following were motivated - Lloydy, Jack, Chris, Rudi, Paul and Adam but then said the others were not (think I got the names right)!!!!!!! Says we never looked like scoring. Not at all happy.

Where was the interview, out of interest?
saint_stevo Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Lloyd James? Really? Maybe he should be talked through tackling at some point.....
um pahars Posted 8 December, 2008 Author Posted 8 December, 2008 Whilst I respect his comments, I think the dodgy system may have something to do with that as well, however we were so slow to the second ball today. Where was the interview, out of interest? On Radio Hampshire and fair play to the interviewer (I think Cope) as he stuck it to him and didn't pull any punches. Jan seemed very shell shocked (and I've said he always seemed so compsed in the past) and pretty angry with some players.
benjii Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Lloyd James? Really? Maybe he should be talked through tackling at some point..... I thought James was one of our best players tonight (until the error!). I feel really sorry for him though. This crazy experiment is seriously threatening to damage his career prospects.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I reckon he might bail soon... I hope he does for our sake and his.
Thedelldays Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 you could see when the cameras were on him that he looks defeated already...that was only 1-0 down..

alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I reckon he might bail soon... Hope so. Maybe Lowe will go as collateral damage.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 you could see when the cameras were on him that he looks defeated already...that was only 1-0 down.. Yep, i noticed that, poor bloke does not know how to change from the one style of play.
um pahars Posted 8 December, 2008 Author Posted 8 December, 2008 you could see when the cameras were on him that he looks defeated already...that was only 1-0 down.. Well, we have lost 9 out of the 10 games where we have conceded first!!!!!
Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks it is the manager's responsibility to motivate the players?
Thedelldays Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks it is the manager's responsibility to motivate the players? didnt arry get slated for this very thing..?

.comsaint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Hey - we're shtill playing schexy futboll no?
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 didnt arry get slated for this very thing..? yes and how right we were, turned out to be a poor manager that one...
Thedelldays Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 yes and how right we were, turned out to be a poor manager that one... for us....yes
saint_stevo Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks it is the manager's responsibility to motivate the players? No i fully agree, something like a rousing team talk to get them fired up perhaps? or, what we actually get is..... "Jetsh go out and win jish game childjrens do it forsh Rupert orsh i will looozsh my jobsh"
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 for us....yes which would be because of whom?? Wasn't allowed to do his job maybe?
Thedelldays Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 which would be because of whom?? Wasn't allowed to do his job maybe? people (im sure i have said this before today to you) are good at some clubs and bad at others....
Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 which would be because of whom?? Wasn't allowed to do his job maybe? Maybe he was leaving the motivation up to the motivation guru / director of football.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 people (im sure i have said this before today to you) are good at some clubs and bad at others.... What Arry can manage anywhere but Southampton - intriguing, must be like the Bermuda Triangle. Good managers go missing inside it...
Chap in the Chapel Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I'm not surprised he's scathing - McGoldrick's performance in particular was an absolute disgrace tonight. Since he got his new three-year contract off the back of two goals against Exeter he's been abysmal; lazy, arrogant and selfish. He obviously considers himself undroppable and therefore thinks he can do whatever he likes. Drop him and put Euell up front.
Thedelldays Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 What Arry can manage anywhere but Southampton - intriguing, must be like the Bermuda Triangle. Good managers go missing inside it... maybe...after all, he is no mourinho...
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Maybe he was leaving the motivation up to the motivation guru / director of football. Yep, where's he when you need 'im? Bring in Sir Clive! My mates at the BOC tell me he's about to get the ole Spanish Archer...oooops my mouth.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 maybe...after all, he is no mourinho... No, cos unlike Jose, Arry don't speak the English too good.
alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 What Arry can manage anywhere but Southampton - intriguing, must be like the Bermuda Triangle. Good managers go missing inside it... More like Bitterne Triangle...
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 More like Bitterne Triangle... nice one
sadoldgit Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 He has every right to sound ****ed off. Palace are not great shakes but when you defend like schoolboys you don't deserve anything out of a game. We didn't look like wanted to score tonight. My mates are Palace fans and said they felt we played the better football, but there was no fire in the last third. Some of their finishing was laughable (thank goodness) as they should have been one up inside the first few seconds and missed good chances later on.
VectisSaint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 no Andrew Surman, Pearce or front three? Does seem harsh on Drew, if true. But has to be said spot on in terms of McG and Robertson. Personally apart form one moment when he fluffed control of a long pass from Wotton (I think) I though BWP had a good game, and has at last shown that he does have a touch. I know its not popular to say positive things about Bradley, but I would rather see him on the field any day rather than McG.
BadgerBadger Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I thought James was one of our best players tonight (until the error!). I feel really sorry for him though. This crazy experiment is seriously threatening to damage his career prospects. yes +1
dubai_phil Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I'm 50 and I had more chance of scoring in the pub in the last 10 minutes with a 22 year old babe from Glasgow than Saints did all night. Something is now clearly very wrong over there as she's downstairs cooking Bacon Sarnies......... Did BWP sneak off the pitch for 30 mins with DMG for a quick pint? When the Spuds fans in the pub reckoned that the tv coverage of Rupe's expressions was more exciting than our attack you know something isn't right
Badger Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 I agree with those who think anticpate JP is heading out. I feel desperately sorry for the bloke who always comes across as decent and honest. But of course he is handicapped by having f^ck all resources, and Rupert hovering in the background. If he does go,it will probably be by "mutual consent" and we can expect the customary Rupertspeak about how he didn't sack him etc etc.Of course there will be no possible thought that it might have been a flawed or risky decision in the first place.

Mind you - if thats true then we really are in deeeep poooooh....!

Not at all happy. Surely not? It is only those overpaid prima donna's that we got rid of who weren't motivated. Surely these kids want to play "for the shirt"? That's why our wise and omnipotent leader kicked the old guard out and ushered in a new era of exciting beautiful football played by fresh young faces who are just dying to show us what they can do? Surely?
offix Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 I agree with those who think anticpate JP is heading out. Oh goodie, that would mean Wotte gets the coaches job. Another one with great experience:rolleyes: and a glorious track record. But at least he dresses better.
um pahars Posted 9 December, 2008 Author Posted 9 December, 2008 no Andrew Surman, Pearce or front three? The story is now on the OS and Surman is included there as one of those named as being motivated, but Rudi isn't. I'm sure on the interview I heard hi say Rudi, but may have missed him saying Surman.

NickG Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 bit early for first conspiracy theory of the day!
Greenridge Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 I thought James was one of our best players tonight (until the error!). I feel really sorry for him though. This crazy experiment is seriously threatening to damage his career prospects. I've not had the pleasure of seeing James play in his preferred position but listening to the likes of Navy Red then it's clear he has some talent and of course he wouldn't have made it this far it he hadn't. However! at right back he is very poor, week in week out. I think Cork is wasted at RB but we must have some other options and surely Jan can see the weakness - other managers certainly can.
Dicko Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 If the players lack motivation then JP has to take the blame However, part of the problem could be that too many youngsters think they have made the grade now they're playing.
Fan The Flames Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 bit early for first conspiracy theory of the day! The OS has previous. We all know the tripe it came out with regarding John when they were getting rid of him.
LaptopSaint Posted 9 December, 2008 Posted 9 December, 2008 If the players lack motivation then JP has to take the blame However, part of the problem could be that too many youngsters think they have made the grade now they're playing. Also don't underestimate the mental tiredness. They're not used to playing this many games. Their bodies might be able to cope, but maybe their minds can't. And that's where you need a Euell, a Svensson (well, maybe), even a Wotton (although I don't think he's good enough on any other criteria) on the pitch and keeping them going.
