One for Heinsenberg (SuperMikey), Lana del Rey has self confirmed.

Ah nice. Music to slit your wrists to. But beautifully sung of course.

Just booked Mrs D_P's flight back with airmiles, waiting for Emirates to have their next sale, so I can buy mine, last one only applied for departures before 10th June :x

Glastonbury. Just another place for yuppies to tick off. I.E. Ascot , Henley, Wimbledon etc etc. ******s in fancy dress with little idea about music.

Can you take your inferiority complex to another thread please Manji? This is a thread for yuppies only. Kthxbai

Metallica are now joint favourites at the bookies.

Seen them three times already. Very good live, but I'd recommend boning up on the classics if they're confirmed.

Most of their early stuff isn't that listenable first time out. (awaits obvious joke)

Just get their 1983-1991 content in your bonce to start with, you noodle-armed choirboy.

Haha, I have nothing against them really. Would probably be up for them at Glasto I reckon.

Lol at noodle-armed choirboy. That's a new one, though considering what I get called due to who I work for, you're going to have to do better to hurt me I'm afraid.

Also, you spied SuperMikeys rebranding as the Walter White of Hampshire?

Nah, it's an old one.

Can't claim the credit.

Haven't actually paid yet, did you phil?

I'm a first-timer. What's the accepted form here?

Email Emily Eavis and say "I shan't hand over a penny until I see confirmation that Art Brut are booked"?

Help an old man out, KRG :)

You'll be wanting the Dance Village for that mate.

We should all get to arranging the annual SWF Cider Bus meet as well.

I've now paid for my tickets. I was hoping for some last minute "don't do it pap" warning from KRG. It did not arrive. I am now committed.

Why would I try talk you out of it?

I was looking forward to our meeting, and subsequent forming of a hardcore TSW subset over cider (and a biff).

It was your message to Phil. "You haven't actually paid for your tickets yet, have you".

I was concerned that the Eavis' might be like those cockneys on Oxford Street who sell unmarked boxes and that I might walk away disappointed with Rick Astley.

Ah no. What I meant was, I have yet to pay for my tickets, so haven't been given an option to buy a water bottle thingy. Have you purchased one Phil?

Paid for tickets, skipped on the bottles. At least I have an excuse - Luggage Allowance :) We're hitting Provence the week before with a mini tent & camping/touring for a week on the way to UK (fly from here to Nice then old BA Airmiles to UK then home here after Glasto actually cost 80 quid each LESS than a return to UK (bloody APT fees)

So we only get 23kgs each and so are travelling really light....

Meanwhile some up to date Acts & comments

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/apr/04/kasabian-pixies-skrillex-glastonbury-festival-2014

Kasabian are to headline Glastonbury festival 2014, making their debut appearance at the top of the Pyramid stage bill on Sunday 29 June. The Leicester band are one of 87 names added to this year's lineup, which now includes Elbow, Pixies, MIA and Skrillex.

Festival founder Michael Eavis had promised this year's festival would feature fresh headliners, and has so far not disappointed: Kasabian join the previously announced Arcade Fire, who top the bill on the Friday night.

His daughter, festival organiser Emily Eavis, said: “We always take great pride in putting a great British band on to headline the Pyramid and this time it’s Kasabian, who are one of the most requested bands from Glastonbury-goers and an amazing live act. It’s going to be one hell of a show!”

Although Saturday's Pyramid stage headliners are yet to be announced, there are plenty of big names among the new additions to the bill. Perhaps the most interesting of these is Pixies, who have not performed at Worthy Farm since 1989. The grunge pioneers are currently preparing to release their fifth album, Indie Cindy, which is also their first in 23 years.

Alongside Kasabian and Arcade Fire are several artists who headline stages for the first time. Skrillex will bring his manic take on dubstep and electronica to the Other stage after performing a variety of DJ sets at last year's festival. House and garage duo Disclosure will headline a night on the West Holts stage, while James Blake brings his hushed brand of dubstep to the Park. Elsewhere, MGMT headline the John Peel stage, while Richie Hawtin will occupy one of the top slots in Silver Hayes.

There are plenty of names on the list who play Glastonbury for the very first time. Lana Del Rey, Chance the Rapper and Courtney Barnett have never played the festival before, while there are debuts for an array of legendary performers including Bryan Ferry, Dexys, ESG and the Sun Ra Arkestra. Lil Louis, François Kervorkian and acid-house legend DJ Pierre will be at Glastonbury for the first time to play Block 9. The Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté is also due to play after having to cancel his performance last year due to illness. He will perform on the Pyramid stage with his son Sidiki, with whom he has made a new album.

Emily Eavis said: “One of the great things for us about this year’s line up is that there areso many artists who have never played Glastonbury before, along with some of the most exciting new bands stepping up to play some of the big headline slots on main stages, like Skrillex and Disclosure.”

She continued: “We’re very chuffed to have some of the biggest acts in the world, like Arcade Fire, Dolly Parton and Jack White, making one-off festival appearances.”

White will likely debut songs from his forthcoming second solo album, Lazaretto, and is one of several solo artists on the lineup alongside MIA, Ed Sheeran, Jake Bugg and Robert Plant. The last plays alone despite rumours that Led Zeppelin could headline the Saturday night.

Before today's announcement, the festival had officially confirmed eight acts to play: Lily Allen, Disclosure, Dolly Parton, the Black Keys, Blondie, Lana Del Rey, Warpaint and Arcade Fire.

The Guardian is Glastonbury festival's media partner.

Hmmm Radiophonic Workshop. Does that mean we can get to see the Dr Who theme song played live?

Strangely there are actually some acts in that list that I have heard of before in fact some I've seen before (which in this cultural/musical desert is quite a surprise)

Dolly Parton, Bryan Ferry, Robert Plant...............................

Time to start the pre Glasto You Tube evenings methinks on quite a lot of those

There's an awful lot of sh!t on that lineup... Also I was hoping they'd put Black Keys on before Arcade Fire, that would have made my weekend! They should just let me organise the festival next time!

Excited to see The Wailers and Mogwai though, two acts i've been wanting to see for a while.

The Wailers played an afternoon set down here at our last (not NYE) Sandance on the beach. They were absolutely superb. Their singer is the dogs xxxxxxxs just 45 minutes/an hour of the greatest hits to sing a long to.

PS: Be warned all ye who plan to go to see Massive Attack - they're boring as hell live.

Source: A wasted evening watching them at the Other Stage in 08.

I've seen them a couple of times and really enjoyed them, including that '08 set.

That said, that was my first time experiencing a certain new wonder cure for depression - I still get flashbacks when I listen to Angel.

I'm hoping for West Holts, about 7-8pm on Sunday. That would do the job nicely!

Love their albums (and Angel is a great track) but it doesn't translate across to a big open-air stage performance for me unfortunately.

Maybe you need to pretend to be a tranquillised horse, it might help.

I do think they are better in a venue, than open-air though.

There's some cracking stuff on there. Mogwai is a pleasant surprise but god, Kasabian are appalling. Bands I'm most excited for at the moment:

Arcade Fire

Pixies

Mogwai

Sun Ra and his Arkestra

Angel Haze

I feel a little bit deflated, kind of the same as this time last year but you have to wait until closer to the festival before you realise that the lineup is not even the half of it. And this announcement isn't even an eighth of the lineup!

NME's take on the mysterious third headliner.

http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/glastonbury-2014-who-could-be-the-mysterious-third-headliner

Their Metallica shout is pretty good. e.g. They could be booked, but can't yet announce due to doing other festivals.

I don't really understand how that would work? I mean, they may have had a exclusivity agreement, but that would relate to them not playing any other European/British etc Festival. Would seem odd that if that wasn't in place that they then could even announce other festivals shows if they are allowed to play them.

"Right Metallica, you are playing our festival. You are welcome to play other UK festivals, just as long as you don't tell anyone about it?"

I dunno, seems odd.

Would be a bit underwhelmed with a Headline Trio of Arcade Fire, Metallica & Kasabian to be honest.

They're headlining Sonisphere, which means that if people know they're going to Glasto, they might not go there.
