Anyone actually know the answer? 1984? Don't think we've ever been above them in my lifetime following football (mid 90's).

Mid season wise for us being above Man Utd you have to go back to 31/12/1988 where we were 8th and Utd were 11th.

 

The closest I could find in the Premier League era after at least 5 games was exactly 10 years ago where we were a point & a place behind them in 5th after 6 games.

Regardless of how long, it does make the table look very nice. Man U have also lost their goal difference advantage over Saints although they have scored more goals. If we can get at least 3 against Palace next weekend even some of the doubters may have to accept that things are changing
