Johnny Bognor Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 2012 West Brom (A) Lost 0-2 Liverpool (A) Lost 0-1 Sunderland (H) Lost 0-1 Norwich (A) Drew 0-0 West Ham (H) Drew 1-1 Points = 2 Goals for = 1 Goals Against = 5 2013 West Brom (A) Won 1-0 Liverpool (A) Won 1-0 Sunderland (H) Drew 1-1 Norwich (A) Lost 0-1 West Ham (H) Drew 0-0 Points = 8 Goals for = 3 Goals Against = 2 So we've quadrupled our points tally, trebled our goals scored and more than halved our goals against. If that's not progress, I don't know what is.
Batman Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 its not. we are going backwards (apparently)
Saint_clark Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 its not. we are going backwards (apparently) Isn't that what you told everyone? Also that we're playing hoofball all the time?
Batman Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 Isn't that what you told everyone? Also that we're playing hoofball all the time? no just said so far this season we have been hoofing the ball a lot. which we had. further more, when we passed it around today (when we had 3 in the middle) it was probably the best we had played all season
1576 Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 What are you doing at home? Do you need a night off to recover?
Olallana Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 who do we compare Palace next week to from last year? Loss to Wigan or QPR or the win against Reading?
Dr Who? Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 Sort out our home form and we will be flying. Sorry not form.... Results. Very strange start, defence is much better, but drew at home to Sunderland win at Anfield. Palace will be interesting, but hoping for a big win to open our home winning account.
Turkish Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 who do we compare Palace next week to from last year? Loss to Wigan or QPR or the win against Reading? Came up via th play offs so the draw with west ham.
Batman Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 thought palace were decent at united. no easy games this year
Olallana Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 Came up via th play offs so the draw with west ham. but that one is already used......??
Olallana Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 At least we are above West Ham at last! But they are as safe as Man United while we´re not
Latheal Posted 21 September, 2013 Posted 21 September, 2013 but that one is already used......?? I'd say Wigan. Palace were 3rd to get promoted, Wigan 3rd to get relegated. Seems fair. Reading = Hull QPR = Cardiff
Cascadia Saint Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 But they are as safe as Man United while we´re not We're above Man Utd too...
Saint_clark Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 I'd say Wigan. Palace were 3rd to get promoted, Wigan 3rd to get relegated. Seems fair. Reading = Hull QPR = Cardiff I'd say Hull and Cardiff are more like us and West Ham to be honest, both look like having a good chance of staying up. Palace like Reading.
dubai_phil Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 Only need 10 wins & a couple of draws to stay up now. I'll take that for the moment thank you very much. Sooner we get those, the sooner we can work on the Title
positivepete Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 I predicted 55 points this season, no prediction on position, so on the moving annual total we are now on 47 points, calculated by starting with last seasons finishing points total (41), and taking off last seasons results and adding this seasons results. COYR
CB Fry Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 Only need 10 wins & a couple of draws to stay up now. I'll take that for the moment thank you very much. Sooner we get those, the sooner we can work on the Title We only needed ten wins to stay up on the first of August. We now need eight. Either way, we clearly aint going down this season.

Don't forget two of those came when we we're adapting to the premier league, the Sunderland defeat as when we has thrnueless clown who was out his depth in charge and the other two we could have won on another day idea we've profess but we were brilliant last season too, when we weren't adapting, had sacked Adkin, didn't have sh*t refs, took our chances Etc...

Latheal Posted 22 September, 2013 Posted 22 September, 2013 I'd say Hull and Cardiff are more like us and West Ham to be honest, both look like having a good chance of staying up. Palace like Reading. Meant when comparing this season reasults with last season.
Johnny Bognor Posted 22 September, 2013 Author Posted 22 September, 2013 What are you doing at home? Do you need a night off to recover? Been over doing it mate, so thought I would stay in and savour the result who do we compare Palace next week to from last year? Loss to Wigan or QPR or the win against Reading? Good point, but I think comparisons against the corresponding fixtures is a better (not perfect, but better) comparison to just "the first 5 games" last year considering our difficult start Progress yes, but why have you re-arranged the order of the matches? They are in the order in which they were played last season. Just makes it easier to compare like for like at a glance.

JoeShmoe Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 From what I've seen we should be a top half side but as yet not quite as good as Swansea, Everton etc Until we learn how to break down teams that come to SMS to park the bus we won't make that step up. Well see if we can against Palace
Batman Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 From what I've seen we should be a top half side but as yet not quite as good as Swansea, Everton etc Until we learn how to break down teams that come to SMS to park the bus we won't make that step up. S-Clarke Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 who is it say palace will park the bus? Don't think it's in Holloways game to ever park the bus, they will come to attack us. Which is why they will be relegated.
Batman Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 Don't think it's in Holloways game to ever park the bus, they will come to attack us. Which is why they will be relegated. the next two home games will see both teams NOT park the bus IMO
norwaysaint Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 Last season we were all on the bus, I think we're off it now, but Palace won't be parking it. We struggle when teams park the bus more than we did last season when we were on the bus.
norwaysaint Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 Don't forget two of those came when we we're adapting to the premier league, the Sunderland defeat as when we has thrnueless clown who was out his depth in charge and the other two we could have won on another day idea we've profess but we were brilliant last season too, when we weren't adapting, had sacked Adkin, didn't have sh*t refs, took our chances Etc... I bet Kraken is sitting staring at this one wondering if he should still do his usual post saying he agrees with Turkish.
Turkish Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 I bet Kraken is sitting staring at this one wondering if he should still do his usual post saying he agrees with Turkish. Predictive text on my phone and i cant be arsed to change it. I see you've done your usual thing though and contributed nothing except moan about other posters. So well done for that.
The Kraken Posted 23 September, 2013 Posted 23 September, 2013 I bet Kraken is sitting staring at this one wondering if he should still do his usual post saying he agrees with Turkish. Wow. I think you really need to get over your obsession with me. I haven't even contributed to this thread and yet here you are thinking of me and bringing me into it with yet more pointless drivel. It's clearly eating you up norway; let it go, for goodness sake.
Saint86 Posted 24 September, 2013 Posted 24 September, 2013 I'd say Wigan. Palace were 3rd to get promoted, Wigan 3rd to get relegated. Seems fair. Reading = Hull QPR = Cardiff Palace have come up and spent hardly any money just like reading, who they are a similar size to. Hull are the most like west ham, with an experience premier manager who has signed some experienced premier players. Cardiff are just like us, sadly a bad comparison since we didn't play ourselves last year, although we did give plenty of points away due to our own errors. If you were to compare them like for like with the teams that went down.... QPR - Cardiff (Foreign owners with Money innit) Wigan - Hull (manager looking to make quality bargain buys) Reading - Palace (spent sweet FA!)
SaintBobby Posted 24 September, 2013 Posted 24 September, 2013 We are better this year than last year based on the first 5 games. Not by miles. But by more than inches. Should finish somewhere around 8th-12th. IMHO.
The9 Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 2012 West Brom (A) Lost 0-2 Liverpool (A) Lost 0-1 Sunderland (H) Lost 0-1 Norwich (A) Drew 0-0 West Ham (H) Drew 1-1 Points = 2 Goals for = 1 Goals Against = 5 2013 West Brom (A) Won 1-0 Liverpool (A) Won 1-0 Sunderland (H) Drew 1-1 Norwich (A) Lost 0-1 West Ham (H) Drew 0-0 Points = 8 Goals for = 3 Goals Against = 2 So we've quadrupled our points tally, trebled our goals scored and more than halved our goals against. If that's not progress, I don't know what is. Based on OTHER results so far Sunderland, Norwich and West Brom all seem to have got worse compared to last season overall, Liverpool are doing a little better - but were a lot worse against Saints - and West Ham are pretty much at the same level. So looking at that, you'd have to question if it's Saints progressing or the other sides regressing. Either way, I wouldn't mind us getting into Europe by default...
The9 Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 We only needed ten wins to stay up on the first of August. We now need eight. Either way, we clearly aint going down this season. Can we turn this into an early mathematical safety points total probability thread ? Brilliant !
