Johnny Bognor Posted 21 September, 2013 Share Posted 21 September, 2013 2012 West Brom (A) Lost 0-2 Liverpool (A) Lost 0-1 Sunderland (H) Lost 0-1 Norwich (A) Drew 0-0 West Ham (H) Drew 1-1 Points = 2 Goals for = 1 Goals Against = 5 2013 West Brom (A) Won 1-0 Liverpool (A) Won 1-0 Sunderland (H) Drew 1-1 Norwich (A) Lost 0-1 West Ham (H) Drew 0-0 Points = 8 Goals for = 3 Goals Against = 2 So we've quadrupled our points tally, trebled our goals scored and more than halved our goals against. If that's not progress, I don't know what is.

Batman Posted 21 September, 2013 Share Posted 21 September, 2013 Isn't that what you told everyone? Also that we're playing hoofball all the time? no just said so far this season we have been hoofing the ball a lot. which we had. further more, when we passed it around today (when we had 3 in the middle) it was probably the best we had played all season

Dr Who? Posted 21 September, 2013 Share Posted 21 September, 2013 Sort out our home form and we will be flying. Sorry not form.... Results. Very strange start, defence is much better, but drew at home to Sunderland win at Anfield. Palace will be interesting, but hoping for a big win to open our home winning account. positivepete Posted 22 September, 2013 Share Posted 22 September, 2013 I predicted 55 points this season, no prediction on position, so on the moving annual total we are now on 47 points, calculated by starting with last seasons finishing points total (41), and taking off last seasons results and adding this seasons results. Been over doing it mate, so thought I would stay in and savour the result who do we compare Palace next week to from last year? Loss to Wigan or QPR or the win against Reading? Good point, but I think comparisons against the corresponding fixtures is a better (not perfect, but better) comparison to just "the first 5 games" last year considering our difficult start Progress yes, but why have you re-arranged the order of the matches? They are in the order in which they were played last season. Just makes it easier to compare like for like at a glance.

JoeShmoe Posted 23 September, 2013 Share Posted 23 September, 2013 From what I've seen we should be a top half side but as yet not quite as good as Swansea, Everton etc Until we learn how to break down teams that come to SMS to park the bus we won't make that step up. Saint86 Posted 24 September, 2013 Share Posted 24 September, 2013 I'd say Wigan. Palace were 3rd to get promoted, Wigan 3rd to get relegated. Seems fair. Reading = Hull QPR = Cardiff Palace have come up and spent hardly any money just like reading, who they are a similar size to. Hull are the most like west ham, with an experience premier manager who has signed some experienced premier players. Cardiff are just like us, sadly a bad comparison since we didn't play ourselves last year, although we did give plenty of points away due to our own errors. If you were to compare them like for like with the teams that went down.... QPR - Cardiff (Foreign owners with Money innit) Wigan - Hull (manager looking to make quality bargain buys) Reading - Palace (spent sweet FA!) SaintBobby Posted 24 September, 2013 Share Posted 24 September, 2013 We are better this year than last year based on the first 5 games. Not by miles. But by more than inches. Should finish somewhere around 8th-12th. IMHO.

Based on OTHER results so far Sunderland, Norwich and West Brom all seem to have got worse compared to last season overall, Liverpool are doing a little better - but were a lot worse against Saints - and West Ham are pretty much at the same level. So looking at that, you'd have to question if it's Saints progressing or the other sides regressing. Either way, I wouldn't mind us getting into Europe by default...
