Bristol City Build Up

After todays unexpected and most welcome win at the League leaders, I wonder how many this will add to the attendance on Tuesday night?

Still think the club have got the pricing wrong.

I will go at £18 but would have taken all my family at £10 a pop so £40 plays £18

That said really looking forward to watching MOTD tonight.

Well done Saints but potential banana skin v Palace.

Will be interesting to see if we keep any of the 1st XI.

I imagine we could well do a clean sweep (Depending on Fox's fitness)

i went down the ground this morning and got a ticket for this, against my better judgement as it is a rip off, they have cuirrently sold about 5000 ticket according to the chap there, going to be a small crowd as can't see many bothering to come from Bristol.

Serves the club right to ridiculous over pricing of the game, but shame as it is such a missed opportunity to get new fans in , and allow loyal saints who can't afford Premier league prices to bring the family along to a game.

would imagine the team will be like Barnsley, anyone who isn't getting a game at the moment like Ramirez, Yoshida, Davis, Cork will play.

I'd go for something similar but, as I say, give Osvaldo another run out up top as a confidence booster. Will also be good to see how he and Ramirez partner up too.

Only 5,000 sold at this late stage!!!

Embarrasing

Shows whoever decided the ticket pricing policy is not in touch with reality

I thought Bristol City would bring a good following but they have only asked for an initial allocation of 1,000 and not sure how sales are going.

I think we may struggle to make 8,000 although the result today may help.

I do hope that if we progress and get another home tie some degree of realism will prevail

unfortunatelty in the long run we need to have some embarrassingly small crowds to give the club and football in general a wake up call, bring back some sense to pricing.

it makes me laugh when the new tv deal was announced it was calculated each club could reduce prices by half (or something like that) and would still be better off over all. the club waste vast sums of cash (Forren as an example), it wouldn't hurt them to put some consideration to the less well off fans for games like this and charge a tenner.

i reckon we'll have 8500-9000 there on Tuesday and the place will be like a morgue atmosphere wise.

why are you embarrassed?

because it will look ridiculous with 26000 empty seats in the ground as the game is being played out. it is not that fans aren't interested, or can't be bothered, if the price was right we could get 20k , unfortunately our support will look utterly shlt instead

why odes that embarrass you though. just seems something quite irrelevant

Totally agree. The embarrassment will be when we get toward the final and people moan about not getting tickets cos they couldn't be bothered to go to the Bristol city game....

Considering there's only 5000 going to the Bristol City game I don't think they'd take up too much of a cup final allocation.

anyone remember Yeovil at home big crowd at st marys ? and Lincoln at home at the Dell when people were in the aisles , also recall a full house for Huddersfield at home 2nd leg of 2nd round.

anyway hope we get a win this and through to the last 16, will start to get interesting with luck of the draw would love a good cup run and assumingwe rest players it can't really be considered a distraction.

Would like to see some of the youngsters start. Sinclair and Rowe especially after their performances for the Under 21's yesterday

just a thought , while walking down to St Mary's there was a lot of activity around Solent uni site with students moving back next week , there was a large group of foreign students of oriental appearance , they could be in for a treat this week if we play YOSHIDA and my hero TADANARI LEE !

Matt Targett will be involved on Tuesday according to his cousin on twitter.

Makes sense if Fox still injured and not wanting to over-exert Shaw.

As others have said, would like to see Osvaldo played for 60 mins or so to get among the goals prior to Palace game. My team would be:

>>>>>>>Davis

Chambers Maya Hooiveld Targett

>>>>>Cork Davis

>>JWP Ramirez Isgrove

>>>>>>Osvaldo

Hope to see the likes of Rowe, Sinclair, and Reed get some more minutes as well.

---------------Cork---Ward-Prowse-------

----Isgrove----------Ramirez----------Rowe---

-------------------Osvaldo--------------------

Subs: Gazza, S.Davis, Fonte, Reed, Sinclair, Rodriguez/T.Lee, Targett.

Something like that anyway. Would be nice to see how Ramirez and Osvaldo could potentially link-up.

Probably head down to this on my own. With Palace, that'll be Two games in a week! Thank God for Annual Leave. Two games in one week is almost heard of for me - bloody shift work.

I think the problem attendance-wise is the knowledge that the team will probably be completely different. That doesn't bother me, it's a team game. I'm looking forward to seeing what the youngsters can do against a team underperforming in League One. (Although it must still be noted they did knock out Premier League opposition in the last round, in the form of our rivals next Saturday. Psychological advantage if we win, I wonder?)

Davis

Chambers Yoshida Jos Fox

Cork Davis

JWP Ramirez Guly

Lambert

I doubt that will be the team, but it's what I'd play. Possibly even Isgrove starting in Guly's place, although Lambert starting depends on how knackered he is from recent exploits.

I'd be tempted to put Osvaldo into the game vs Bristol City. He seems concerned about not having scored for Saints yet (re: his tweet earlier) so he should be able to get that monkey off his back vs Bristol City

Can you imagine the effect it would have if he didn't score. He'd be screwed up confidence wise for the remainder of the season.

We might as well play Lee, looked OK in yesterday's U21 game (clearly injury was not why he didn't travel yesterday, even though he was taken off injured during the week). Maybe Barnard could get a run out as well. Still would be tempted to have some of the big names on the bench, maybe Ossie.

I'd worry about starting Barnard - if he scored a brace or more against what is effectively a team from his level, people will start claiming he should be in the first team on Saturday! Hells no. I think he's been frozen out for good, and we'd be more likely to start Rowe, Sinclair, Guly or Lee up front than him.

Swap positions over for Guly and Lee, and I would be happy to start with that. First choicers on the bench.

No need to play many first-teamers, we'll easily win this whatever team we put out:

Davis

Chambers Yoshida Hooiveld Fox (if fit)

Cork Davis

JWP Ramirez Isgrove

Guly

easily win, with that team?

are you joking

Davis

Chambers

Hooiveld

Yosh

Fox

Cork

JWP

Isgrove

Ramirez

Davis

Rodriguez

You picked exactly the same team except Guly swapped for Rodriguez. Presumably you think your line up will struggle as well then?

Cork JWP

Ramirez Davis Guly

Lee

Subs: Gazza, Turnbull, Targett, Stephens, Reed, Rowe, Sinclair

I wouldn't think that was too far out but possibility that Cody Cropper could feature somewhere? I believe he travelled with the first team squad to Anfield at the weekend while the U21s were beating Villa back at SMS.

I'll go if I have a proper ding-dong with the Mrs, otherwise not too interested in watching the 2nd XI play in a competition we aren't taking seriously enough to field the first team.

£10 or £18, not sure that would be the deciding factor, as got parking, travel, food & drink etc etc to add on top, so can spread out the £8 difference.

I think we'll be putting better players than those on the bench at least. We'll be wanting to win so at least a couple of first teamers will be ready for action if needs be. Don't forget the first team were back in training yesterday morning.

Do you? Why?

The bench for the 5-1 away win over Championship team Barnsley in the 2nd round was...

01 K Davis

02 Clyne

03 Yoshida

06 Fonte

13 Fox

08 S Davis

10 Ramirez

18 Cork

27 Isgrove (Rowe - 72' )

09 Rodriguez (Reed - 81' )

24 Mayuka (Sinclair - 90' )

Substitutes

25 Gazzaniga

16 Ward-Prowse

22 Chambers

39 Sinclair

35 Stevens

37 Rowe

38 Reed

I think most (if not all) of the starting XI for the Crystal Palace game next Saturday won't be involved at all tomorrow and it'll be fringe players in the starting XI and youngsters on the bench.

Lambert, Lallana, Boruc, Shaw, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Osvaldo, Lovren etc all probably won't feature and they shouldn't need to. The starting XI from the Barnsley team is more than strong enough to beat a League One team, as they should in the last round vs. a Championship side.

I think we should go reasonably strongy if we are serious about trying for a cup this year, that said we have decet strength in depth in a lot of positions but would still like to see some of Saturdays team on the bench if nothing else

Given that Fox is said to be still out we'll have to figure out something for LB. Can't see Shaw starting so it will be either Clyne or Targett, that would mean that if Targett starts Shaw or Clyne would have to be on the bench.. unless of course we send Maya to LB and play Turnbull or Stephens at CB.

"Bristol City head coach Sean O'Driscoll has said he is seeking to sign a centre-back to ease a growing injury crisis in defence."

"City's injury concerns mean that their only fully fit out-and-out centre-back ahead of Tuesday's Capital One Cup match at Southampton is Derrick Williams."

We could/should BATTER them...
