It's not big' date=' it's not clever, but I'm off out for dinner with some friends and I have a feeling I will drink more than is good for you............happy days[/quote']

Not big, not clever.... inevitable. ;-)

The back 5 were IMMENSE today, Boruc is the best keeper weve had since Shilton and if there's a better CB in this league right now than Lovren you'd be hard pressed to find him, he looks like a 30m player he's that good. Shaw, awesome again today (cant help fear a really big club will be in for him soon though) and Morgan / Lallana were also good

See VW got a lot of stick but he does a lot of work off the ball, covers a lot of ground

Big up for Steven Davis as well, thought all last season he was one of our better players and when he comes on he never lets the team down plus his quick passing helps our momentum. Far rather he came on than Ramirez and glad MP feels the same way

its beer o clock !!

What a result!Just had a good feeling about today, something to do with the black kit as strange as it sounds. Can we keep some level headedness about this on here please? Don't want anybody upsetting the WUMs.Let's enjoy it though until the next game

Wanyama-knockers - worth watching again to see how he rates 'on balance'. Yes, it's frustrating that he is rather prone to giving the ball away. BUT - he is also defensively aware and made some very important challenges and clearances, including from corners etc. For me, it is worth persevering with him.

Love it, especially because so many LFC fans were clogging up my Facebook feed with their flannel.

A bowl of scouse? Fk that chaps. Humble pie is in order.

Our depth in midfield really told in the second half. Ward-Prowse, Cork and S. Davis all used to help us smother the scousers. Fantastic to see them used to great effect.

Fonte and Lovren are working very very well together. Them combined with the pace of Shaw and Clyne means our defence is very solid. Boruc again pulled off a cracking performance.

Wanyama I thought was okay, some very sloppy passes but still very imposing. Lallana had a cracker, Ossie was fantastic today. JRod and SRL were quiet today, hopefully will get a bit livelier later on.

And Schniederlin had a lovely 200th appearance!

Fully deserved the 3 points today! Long may it continue!

Woohoo! What a fantastic result. Never in doubt haha. However will mean absolutely nothing if we don't follow up with a win against Palace next week. But for now I'm going to enjoy this result very much :)

Looking forward to watching that on MOTD tonight.

Great result.

Looking forward to Mark Lawrenson having to offer choking praise. That'll be worth an entire season's worth of dross from him.

What a result that was, a perfect away performance. The 2nd half was more promising against West Ham, and I felt we carried that into this game. We moved the ball around with more zip in the final third, although it didn't always come off, we weren't as pedestrian as we have been and we caused Liverpool's back 4 all sorts of problems.

We also saw a return to that ''high'' pressing game, which MP has been so famed for. It was a great tactic to use in a game like this as Liverpool were disjointed, they didn't have a natrual back 4 so if we put them under pressure we were always going to force errors, which we did.

I felt we kept Liverpool at an arms length most of the game, the biggest openings they had (other than the free kick) were probably the 2 breakaways in the opening 5 mins, other than that we were really, really comfortable and weren't really affected by their movement or pace.

I thought Clyne was unplayable at right back, he will play for England sooner rather than later. But for me, MOTM has to go to Lovren. I think he has the potential to have as big an impact on us as of Killer back in 2004. He's big, powerful, quick, a likable character and a leader on the pitch - all the attributes you want in a CB. For whatever reason it didn't work at Lyon, but I truly believe we have one of Europe's best centre backs at our disposal now and you can see the upgrade on the entire back 4. Just his presence has turned us into this amazing defensive unit. An astute buy if there ever was one.

Also a note for Osvaldo, who I thought played his role brilliantly. Some of his touches are genius and once everyone starts to read those regularly, he will get some amazing assists. I think he oozes class on the ball

A nice leap up the table as well and we're looking upwards with 2 decent home games coming up - let's see if we can build on this and turn this into one of our best ever starts to the season.

Great Result, had to stop watching the updates after we scored was very nervous.

Quick read of the Liverpool forum and their reactions makes this place look pretty good!

So much passing goes through him, some are bound to go astray. In most areas he's immense.

I can't see what the problem is (although I know a few people will delight in enlightening me!)

We played more like saints of out purple patch last season

Boruc - 9 Brilliant saves

Clyne - 9 Brilliant

Fonte - 8 very good prem defender

Lovren - 10 WHAT A PLAYER THIS FELLA IS

Shaw - 8 did well

Morgan - 8 back to what he is good at, winning the ball

Wanyama - 5 very good brick wall. needs to be far better to make it in the prem. His passing is a liability

Lallana - 7 very good up to the final 3rd then loses it

Lambert - 6 not very good really

Rodriguez - 6 in and out

Osvaldo - 7 great movement, very skillfull just needs that goal

Davis - 9. Thought he was excellent when he came on

overall. Thought that was an excellent team display. the defence are very good and what a player Lovren is and fonte looks very very good alongside him

we were quicker than any time this season in moving the ball forward just for some reason, we are terrible in the final 3rd.

lambert has completely gone off the boil

Thought we looked far far better when davis came on, he is such a neat and tide player and takes up great positions and we are more able to pass the ball with a 3rd bod in the middle

great result really. gone to the league leaders and DESERVED the win

completely agree with your ratings, as I always do to be honest. You get it spot on pretty much every time.

Fonte has been great alongside Lovren, who is absolutely class. Clyne and Shaw; magic.

Oh Saints. Oh you beautiful Saints!

I must expect far too much from my team... I am very disappointed we aren't clear at the top from not beating Sunderland and West Ham at home.

Superb result today though. We are clearly hard to break down as look a much better then the opposition play against us to win an not for the draw

Great, great day. We outplayed them pure and simple. The team looked even better with Davis on, and my gut is the way forward is to choose between Osvaldo and Lambert. Probably start with Osvaldo, and use Lambert as supersub. That opens up a midfield place for Davis or Cork or JWP. That's where the pace and creativity come from. Personally, I think Wanyama's a keeper. He won the ball several times through sheer strength. Hate seeing Lallana subbed.

But what an awesome performance.

That was the toughest hour and a half of my life. Sat in the home end. I have a video of the end. When home tomorrow I will post it.

What a buzz. Off for a few in Liverpool.

Saints were quality btw.

Today there were clear signs that Pochettino is turning things round. A tremendous result. Lallana's best game in 18 months and should have remained on and finally a spot on corner from him. Davis looked lively but what a disaster Osvaldo was again. Lowren goes from better to better and Boruc's save was world class. Nice to see Jack Cork returning to the fold. Did well in the 8 minutes he was on.

Congratulations also to Reading, to Nigel for their grest win at Derby.

Outstanding result.

Why do we make it difficult for ourselves by not beating the "lesser" teams, especially at home ?

Bet Liverpool are thinking the same thing ;)

Osvaldo was not a disaster at all.

He had some horrid moments, but none of us on the pub would have wanted anyone else on the pitch on his place once we scored.

We are a far better team than us fans understand

Some comments from other forums on Wanyama:

"God, he's a donkey"

"Average and limited footballer"

"Not been impressed with Wanyama"

I still think he'll come good, he played a blinder in the WBA game and as someone rightly pointed out on the last match thread he's ben the biggest contributor defensively of our midfielders and maintains a pass completion percentage above 80% so it's not like he's played terribly. I just think we notice more because of his price.

It's so nice to have Clyne and Shaw back in the starting line up. They make so much difference, not that their replacements did anything wrong. They're just not Clyne and Shaw. Lovren was magnificent again and I also have to start eating my words about Fonte. He has looked assured in pretty much every game this season.

I thought Vic and Morgan bossed it, even though Vic can give cheap ball away sometimes (and against a better side than Liverpool were today that could be a problem). His presence in there is big though.

Osvaldo is looking like he's starting to click too. He's clearly got the quality and it's just a matter of time before he catches fire I reckon. Massive result and performance. The back 5 were different class today.

2 goals conceded in 5 league games. Wanyama has certainly helped with that. He offers power and strength that we didn't have last season.

To think we conceded 20something goals after 8 games last season!

And ART... Osvaldo a disaster? Should probably watch the game before making comments! ;)

He was a little wasteful in possesion especially towards the end, but overall he was class.

Posted

Well that was fairly magnificent - What an outstanding win.

Great win for the boys. Now, if we can bag a few goals against Bristol City, it will set us up rather nicely for Palace.

Posted

Well that was quality, Morgan back to his best, Clyne and Shaw looking unbelievably strong (what i wouldn't have given for that run from Shaw to end in a goal), Lallana running rings round them, Osvaldo unlucky to score on a number of occasions, MP getting his tactics right.

And then...

Lovern. My god what a player we have there, an absolute rock and i'd go farther than comparing him to Killer, i'd say that if he carries on like this we have another Mark Wright on our hands. Utter giant in defence, quick getting back when needed can play the ball out of defence and scored.

Feel a hell of a lot happier than last sunday, let's hope we carry this through to the Palace game and don't get complacent.
