beatlesaint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 we can afford for a squad of 22 plus coaches and backroom staff to travel up to South London from Southampton Saturday night and stay in a hotel for 2 nights in preparation for tonights game !!! Now Selhurst Park is what ? 90 mins from Southampton so what the hell are we wasting money like this for ? Had they been playing away at Doncaster for instance then fair enough......but South London ffs ? Someone has to be taking the p*ss at that club......

Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Maybe it's instead of a Christmas party :smt102
alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I reckon we've been consistently lied to about the financial situation. We seem to have been reasonably active on the transfer in side for a club that doesnt know where the next penny is coming from. This is ALL to do with one person's ego.
beatlesaint Posted 8 December, 2008 Author Posted 8 December, 2008 Maybe it's instead of a Christmas party :smt102 Well the queue to see Santa in Marlands was very long on Saturday so maybe it was !
Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Right, 22+ coaches is excessive Surely they could all have fit on just one?
Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I am pretty sure he said motel. Crossroads
Fowllyd Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I am pretty sure he said motel. Crossroads  The Bates Motel. Now who'd play Norman I wonder?
Weston Super Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 The Bates Motel. Now who'd play Norman I wonder? I'm more worried about who has to play Master

Oh I can assure you our finances are almost beyond recall. I think Lowe may have one final throw of the dice. If he fails we are done for. If he manages to sort it we will not be financially secure but the financial future will look a little brighter.

Unless he 'sorts it' by getting £5m for McGoldrick I can't see him getting any thanks
alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Unless he 'sorts it' by getting £5m for McGoldrick I can't see him getting any thanks He's talking about Lalana and Surman, I think. All it does it stop the rot for 2minutes, until the combined result and subsequent attendance impact kicks in, of course.

All it does it stop the rot for 2minutes, until the combined result and subsequent attendance impact kicks in, of course. I figured he was. Which is why I don't think Lowe will get any thanks - well some will thank him whatever he does.
Weston Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I am still confident Surman and Lallana will still be here when the transfer window closes.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Did anyone else hear Martin Tyler say that rupert said to him that it`s not the playing side that is the money problem but it was the stadium.. Who was chairman when that deal was negotiated.....

Long Shot Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I am still confident Surman and Lallana will still be here when the transfer window closes. Brave words Ron - I will have a fiver that at least one won't????

benjii Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I think he did. Ok - I thought he just said he'd "done some research" but I may not have been listening carefully! I would be surprised if Lowe had said that, as it would kind of fly in the face of his entire raison d'etre at the moment and would point the finger of blame squarely at himself.
Alain Perrin Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 25 x £100 a night x 2 equals how much? (then compare to what Stern John's on and you'll realise it is insignificant). Better to get a full day to relax and train away from kids, xmas shopping etc. in my opinion.

I would be surprised if Lowe had said that, as it would kind of fly in the face of his entire raison d'etre at the moment and would point the finger of blame squarely at himself. You're right. He said his research has seen him told that by people ... no specific mention of Lowe. It makes sense that our mortgage payments are our biggest cost if the success of our wage stripping is to be believed though. I can't see that this is much of a stick to use to be beat Lowe with to be honest ... as some have tried to make it!

Didn't we used to stay somewhere when WGS was in charge, Rod Stewart's or something. I don't often defend Lowe (in fact I hardly ever do) but in this case maybe, just maybe the cost was borne by someone else, or maybe the hotel was offered free by some benefactor. If I'm wrong then "Lowe Out".
