So Boruc is certifiable then...

We seem to be going for an almost Skate-esque approach of throw enough b*llsh*t around until some of it sticks!!!

These consistent stream of grand words do seem rather fanciful to say the least right now.

If you didn't have the attitude he displays in that article, then what would be the point of trying?

Ever heard of letting your football do the talking?

You must be the most easily embarrassed man on the planet.

Dont you find it embarassing then? We have won once in 10 games, scored 2 goals this season and people are talking about winning the title.

How about everyone shuts up and does our talking on the pitch, then when we actually look like we are good enough talk about it then.

I wish they'd stop it. It's embarassing.

I do too.

Funnily enough I was walking to the ground last week and a couple of chaps behind me were discussing the fact that we're in the news a lot talking about Champions League this and that. One of them said "I know, embarrassing isn't it?". I raised a smile. Good job there weren't any other m-boarders around him to chastise him for being embarrassed.

To be fair, once again the press are putting their spin on what was actually asked and responded to. But its the constant guff coming out from the club that means CL will always be the question, and always the resulting headline.

Except Boruc didn't actually say what Sky presented it as.

"Boruc thinks Saints can secure a Champions League place this season"

Really...

Mostly the players are being asked the question and they are saying something diplomatic along the lines of "sure why not, everyone has a chance". all the rest is spin.

who does everyone want us to get in the group stages? I think we'll do good vs Barcelona cos they won't park the bus and cos wanyama has already showed he is better than their midfield. Roma would be good cos they is sold their best player to spurs. I would want to avoid AC Milan tho in case they make disparaging comparisons between our atmosphere and fratton park. :(

What do you think Guise?

Have any of the "embarrassed" people actually read the article? I just did and it doesn't say what the OP told us it did at all. More "mong board" overreaction to things that never happened.

I'd go with Barcelona too for the reasons you mention and because they are not that hot at the back and our pressing game would upset Puyol. Bayern Munich, because they lost to Chelsea at home and we didn't lose to them last season, plus Lampard is sh*t. I'd probably go with Real Madrid because Man United would have knocked them out last season if Nani hadn't been sent off and our midfield is better than theirs (Man U) so we'd probably smash them home and away.

Maybe not about Champs League, but what about the rest of the stuff about our team being as good as any other in the league?

Did you not turn round and tell them they had a Dell sized mentality and they said man would never walk on the moon?

Did norwaysaint actually read any of the embarrassed people's responses where they actually said it was press spin? More "norwaysaint moaning about other posters" once again.

Based on the hysterical reactions on this thread I hope the players keep on making ridiculous claims, each trying to outdo the last. I do love seeing the forum meltdown over a bit of meaningless fluff at the end of an interview. Next week I wanna see Guly claiming we should be founding members of a 12-team European breakaway Super-league.

Love it if one of our players came out with, "no, we're **** really, hoping to score again at some point, wouldn't bank on it, Osvaldo can barely find his own arse with both hands let alone the back of the net. I'm just here for the laughs, got a grand on us getting only 5 goals this season..."

Are we likely to get into the Champions League this season? - probably not no. Are we likely to finish off better than last season? - I bloody hope so given the money we have spent. Do I want to spend my life aiming for nothing, having no ambition and hiding my proverbial light under a bushel? do I buggery. Am I a 'happy-clappy' or whatever? Possibly. Frankly who gives a Sh*t. We (I hope) all support Saints, we all approach things in different ways, some are deluded one-way, some are deluded the other. The offensive and those who wind up people on purpose should sod-off because they add nothing to the debate. (..and deliberately being contrary is not the same as being intelligent, so do yourselves a favour and give it rest because you look like a nob!) Enjoy your football, give your opinion, be respectively of other peoples genuinely held views on things or............................? or nothing I guess :-( Life's too short for half the nonsense on here.

Will we make the Champions League this season, or next, or even the one after that? No. No chance. But I too hope the players keep coming out and saying we will, just to see how "embarrassed" a few of the precious morons on here get.

... but Mr Nice, they are not saying we will, they are saying that we are aiming for that, that we could do it, that we (they personally) believe that they can. What is wrong with that. I expect myself and my staff to be confident and ambitious. We, thank god however, don't have microphones thrust in our faces asking us leading questions all the time. Remember most of these guys are football 'clever', but real world 'limited', education takes a far distant 2nd place to football, they don't all have rapier-like minds. I have no problem at all with someone aiming, hoping (and yes), even expecting to win every game. In fact it's the least I expect from my team. There is no issue here!!!!!

Oh how I long for the days of mediocrity when only Rupert ever said something and everything was about paying a Dividend and giving him & his cronies a Stock Option.

I agree with Turkish, enough of trying to improve every week and trying to keep improving. Let's go out in January and find some reliable old PL workhorses to fill the bench, life was so much easier then.
