melmacian_saint Posted 20 September, 2013 Share Posted 20 September, 2013 Ok guys, I thought this should be an interesting one given we've got people from all over the UK here and also a fair number of expats and some foreign imports like myself. Back in my native Portugal apart from following Sporting Lisbon, I follow my local team from my outskirts location, who currently play in the Portuguese 3rd tier (bit like the Conference, a mix between pros, semipros and amateurs), having been promoted through a re-shape which saw the number of non-league national level divisions reduced from 2 to 1. To watch them, I currently pay 26 euros a year for my membership and with that I can watch all of their home matches during a season, apart from home cup games where I pay 3 euros/match. This has been true since 2010, before that I always paid 3.5 euros per game no matter what, plus the 26 euros for the membership. They are not great, but it's a laugh. Currently the ticket price for everyone else (apart from the young ones) is 6 euros. I've watched them away a few times and I've never paid more than 7 euros or less than 4. There is one seated stand for everyone (members get plastic seats ). Question is how much do you pay to watch your very local non-league football teams (or league if that's the case, now we're not directly interested haha), or simply how much does it cost to do so in your home country/town? stevegrant Posted 20 September, 2013 Share Posted 20 September, 2013 I go and watch Sutton United occasionally, they're in the Conference South and it's £12. Absolutely ridiculous price considering the standard, but the lower leagues really feel the effect of Premier League pricing, as the players each level down think they should be earning more, and the ticket prices are increased in order to pay for it. The Kraken Posted 24 September, 2013 Share Posted 24 September, 2013 Last time i went to watch Romsey Town it cost me £7, and that was a couple of years ago. I can remember when getting into the Dell as an adult cost nearly the same.
bridge too far Posted 24 September, 2013 Share Posted 24 September, 2013 I think we paid £14 each to watch the mighty Wycombe Wanderers last Saturday. OK not non-league but pretty dire football BTW how the mighty are fallen - Nigel Worthington managing the opposition, York City
do i not like fizzy pop Posted 24 September, 2013 Share Posted 24 September, 2013 Thinking of going to see York play this weekend and take the nippers (4 & 5) to their first match. £18 for me and £8 each for the kids though does seem steep. They could do withsome extra encouragement to achieve there second win of the season. It has absolutely no bearing on who the opposition happens to be this weekend... Bell anyone? mdearlove Posted 26 September, 2013 Share Posted 26 September, 2013 We get a free season ticket for Wimborne Town as my son plays for one of the youth teams - normally £10 a game which is ridiculous as the quality is pretty dire - I think I could still give a few of them a run for their money! Colinjb Posted 26 September, 2013 Share Posted 26 September, 2013 Following Margate when younger it wasn't unusual to pay up to £15 a ticket at Conference National - Ryman/Southern Premier Level. That was 10+ years ago.
The9 Posted 27 September, 2013 Share Posted 27 September, 2013 Newport County in League Two is £18 for a seat, with a £2 ticket tax on the day. Standing is about £15/£17 I think. Exeter City last Saturday charged £21 for a seat (though Newport thought the tickets were £23 and gave out some refunds, don't ask) Accrington tickets are £15, I think they may even be £13 in advance. Bury are also £15. They're my next 2 League 2 grounds next weekend - one is going to be for Accrington v Dagenham and Redbridge and it's costing more for the hotel on the Friday night than both matches combined.
