KelvinsRightGlove Posted 24 September, 2013 Posted 24 September, 2013 Guy in the office is a Reading fan. He reckons a lot of the hold up is over dates. Loans can only be for 3 months outside the Transfer Window, so they want to make sure he is available for the xmas fixtures, apparently - so may happen later in the week. This is according to their version of TSW he frequents. So could be complete rubbish, like a lot of the stuff on here.
Scummer Posted 24 September, 2013 Posted 24 September, 2013 Sharps mysterious apology on Twtter last night http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/readingfc/articles/2013/09/24/93409-sharp-no-closer-to-reading-fc-move/ What mysterious apology? Only thing I can see is when he praised Orient for winning 7 out of 7, then corrected himself and apologised because it's 8 out of 8.

The most he can do is a 90 day loan I think so they would want it to cover the Xmas period.
The9 Posted 24 September, 2013 Posted 24 September, 2013 Logical that the loan delay would happen, if it's a season long loan it can only be terminated in Transfer Windows - but as it hasn't happened in a Transfer Window it's classed as an emergency loan which have a 3 month limit (as mentioned above). We've had a few of these kind of weird delays before when making/providing loans in order to maximise the number of games from the loan period (mostly in Championship pre-takeover), though no names immediately spring to mind.
ART Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Guess the delay is because they're waiting for the end of the month so the end of the loan comes at the start of the next transfer window. Could be Reading have offered to buy Sharp if the loan is a success and they're right up there with a chance of promotion.
SuperSAINT Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 Simon Peach @SimonPeach Good move for both parties. #ReadingFC covering Sharp's entire wages in a loan move I understand will last until January.
farawaysaint Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 Owstalk's Skacel thread about to take a turn for the worst then http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic/198909-billy-sharp-still-good-enough-for-wednesday/page-77
ART Posted 27 September, 2013 Posted 27 September, 2013 Funny clip of Sharp warming up at Reading and getting clipped on the back of the head by a ball, somewhat like Harry once had happen in an interview.
skintsaint Posted 27 September, 2013 Posted 27 September, 2013 Love the little dig about Crosbys nose

Suhari Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Remember when some people on here said he was better than Rodriguez....? Isn't he now also better than Osvaldo?
Saint Charlie Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Isn't he now also better than Osvaldo? Ha, if anyone has suggested that then they really have no clue.
Cascadia Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Why is this resurrected? We know all about Billy Sharp's good and bad points, and he helped us get promoted. Why the continued prodding and poking? It seems a bit ****ish to me. Good lad, heart in the right place, maybe playing in the right place now.
trousers Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Why is this resurrected? One of our players out on loan scored a goal last night. I thought it might be of interest that one of our loanees is playing well. No ulterior motive on my part.

Although I have no idea why I would be surprised by this or asking at all here...

norwaysaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Remember when some people on here said he was better than Rodriguez....? Don't remember that being said, but I remember it being pointed out that he's always scored more goals than JRod, which seems fair enough.
Noodles34 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Ha, if anyone has suggested that then they really have no clue. I would bet that if he had played the same games for us as Osvaldo, he would have scored more than one, FFS, I bet Kevin phillips would have scored more!
Noodles34 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I think we have proved that sometimes change aint neccesaary, especially up front. We had BS and we paid 15M for someone who, currently, doesnt live up to Billy's scoring record. But dont let the facts get in the way of defending a 'big' signing.
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I would bet that if he had played the same games for us as Osvaldo, he would have scored more than one, FFS, I bet Kevin phillips would have scored more! You need chances to score to be honest, and we dont create enough Sharp would give us nothing at all in our build up or pressing game, IMO

We had BS and we paid 15M for someone who, currently, doesnt live up to Billy's scoring record[b/]. But dont let the facts get in the way of defending a 'big' signing. Billy Sharp has never scored in a top flight match. So what "scoring record" are you using to compare him with Oswaldo (a current Italian international and 3rd top scorer in Serie A last season)?

ottery st mary Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I hope Billy goes on to get a few for Reading now....IF he gets some games??? His level..me thinks
jawillwill Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Just smashed a penalty high and wide over the bar.
Window Cleaner Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Apparently he's been saying he has no future with Saints and wants a permanent move to Reading....surely missing a penalty should help him achieve that. I'm afeared that they'll sack Adkins and ship Sharp back to us very soon.
Matthew Le God Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 I'm afeared that they'll sack Adkins and ship Sharp back to us very soon. His loan deal finishes on 2nd January.
Window Cleaner Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 His loan deal finishes on 2nd January. but if Adkins is still there after that perhaps they'll sign him permanently...bet they don't though.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 The quality of his Saints teammates back then has really showed in his two loan spells. We had some PL players playing in the Championship and playing with the quality of Lambert & Lallana in the Championship must be great for a striker.
saintmatt Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Just smashed a penalty high and wide over the bar. Only pen we've missed in last 3 (?) years was sharp iirc

Batman Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Theyre in the play off places, why on earth would they sack Adkins? Because they are slowly slipping down Go on the hobnob forum, more and more are fed up with him Rerember, they sacked the manager that won the league with a lesser squad than this

Hope that never happens to us.
Batman Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Slowly slipping down the table, eh? Hope that never happens to us. Indeed. But we are not turning on the manager as it appears they are on the hobnob
SuperMikey Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 Only pen we've missed in last 3 (?) years was sharp iirc Blackpool away the season before last, we lost 3-0. Sharp missed the penalty which would have put us 1-0 up and we capitulated. F*cking dreadful penalty too.

F*cking dreadful penalty too. I don't think Sharp is PL standard but we should leave him alone as he is a decent man and still a Saint
Appy Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 MLG can you confirm that is you talking boll&cks on the blackburn forum ? That'll be a yes then.
SuperMikey Posted 21 December, 2013 Posted 21 December, 2013 I don't think Sharp is PL standard but we should leave him alone as he is a decent man and still a Saint Nothing against him as a player or a person. In fact, I really admire him - to go through what he's been through and come out the other side stronger is amazing. As a footballer though he has his limitations, and I don't think his move to us has helped in that respect. He is now a big money signing for a club at his level to make due to the wages he's on with us and the amount we would expect to receive as a transfer fee from the club that buys him. In order to spend £1.5m+ in fees and 20k a week on a striker at Championship level, he has to be a sure thing (for most clubs, at least). He had a great scoring record with us in the Championship, but hasn't illustrated that at either Forest or Reading. Until he starts scoring again, I don't think clubs will be queuing up to sign him - which is the problem we had with trying to shift him in the summer.
Window Cleaner Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 Indeed. But we are not turning on the manager as it appears they are on the hobnob defeats at home by Bournemouth and Wigan seem to damage a manager's credibility, can't work out exactly why.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 28 December, 2013 Author Posted 28 December, 2013 Being said that Billy Sharp will join Reading on a permanent basis by the end of next week for a fee in the region of £1m.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Being said that Billy Sharp will join Reading on a permanent basis by the end of next week for a fee in the region of £1m. Good deal for all.
Lighthouse Posted 29 December, 2013 Posted 29 December, 2013 Being said that Billy Sharp will join Reading on a permanent basis by the end of next week for a fee in the region of £1m. Where?
Saint-Armstrong Posted 29 December, 2013 Author Posted 29 December, 2013 Where? Reading people who seem to be regarded as ITK and on a couple of Reading-dedicated sites.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 1 January, 2014 Posted 1 January, 2014 Back in the building tomorrow? billy sharp @billysharp10 1h Thanks to everybody at reading football club, fans, staff and especially players great set of lads.⚽

Window Cleaner Posted 22 January, 2014 Posted 22 January, 2014 BBC Solent Sport @solentsport #saintsfc striker @billysharp10 being lined up for a return to Doncaster Rovers that's some serious drop in level for him then, probably not founded on anything solid.
