Why are people surpirised it's taking time to integrate Osvaldo into the side?

Geting Osvaldo and Lambert playing together will take time. If we'd had him in for pre-season, we wouldn't be having the problems we have now. It's a shame people at the club didn't realise how important it was to take advantage of our first 4 games of the season.

Hope it doesn't come back to bite us.

Great point - WTF were we doing all summer!!!??!!?

Ok, it seems people don't agree that integrating a player into the squad early in the Summer is a good idea. Personally I think it is, especially when we were negotiating the transfer from May...perhaps if we knew it was going to take along time to complete we should have set a deadline and moved onto another target perhaps?

Seriously, where is Nicci C's number? UJ needs to be on board. It's just that simple!

No one disagrees it would be good in an ideal world if all business was done before July 1st or when players are back for pre-season.

But the reality is the market does not work like that. As I keep trying to tell Alpine, you only need to see how much happens in the last week/day/hour of the window to see that.

Whilst the window is open after the season starts, this will always happen.

Also, could you imagine how people, probably you included, if the club kept just swapping targets if the transfer didn't happen in a day like some people seem to think they all do.

Two out of our three targets were landed in time for pre-season, so I'm not sure you can criticise the club for not taking that process of integrating new players seriously.

In an ideal world we would have got Osvaldo in earlier, but market forces dictated otherwise and negotations don't always pan out as the buying club would like them to.

To be fair, he was was ony signed after the first game of the season - a game we picked up three points from anyway. He has been available to play since.

Don't know how much difference it would have made if he was signed a couple of weeks earlier, probably very marginal over the course of an entire season.

Bearing in mind some of the clubs that were scrambling around on deadline day (Arsenal, Man Utd) not sure there is too much justification to be annoyed with the timing of our transfers to be honest!
