alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Please show me which part of my post was complacent? It's factual sure but complacent? I appreciate with kids you will have a lot of inconsistencies. I have also seen many many more games than you this season so I am better qualified to make a judgement. Well, your sense of judgement is seriously flawed then.
Calvin Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Saints will walk this league!!!!!!!!!!!11111111
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I am praying for another Mikey Wilde panic attack, because I reckon it is the only thing that is going to force a change of direction on the club and rescue us from the abyss of relegation.......... Christ......that really is our only hope.
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Are we in the relegation zone? Are we bottom of the league? No so we aren't in trouble. There is a threat of relegation but I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill. We're not in the relegation zone tonight but we're certainly in trouble.

JustMike Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 No CHARLTON are in trouble. We're just not that good. wtf!!!! WE ARE IN TROUBLE (as well as Charlton)
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 But my worry is that I can see Charlton and Watford turning it around. They certainly both have squads that are probably better than their league position says, whereas I think we are not really capable of turning things around and instead will just plod on at something like a point a game. I think Forest and Doncaster will stay there and I just pray that someone like Barnsley or Blackpool will get dragged back in or else we could very well end up 22nd and fccukced. If and when that happens I will be concerned. It hasn't yet and we are actually in a better situation than we were a couple of weeks ago! With some comments you would think we were dead and buried yet we arent even in the relegation zone.

Charlton -mmm depends whom they appoint. Watford - depends on whether the bloke can make a success of his first ever management job. Both have squads like ours - Watford have a serious cash shortage and will have to sell in January, so too might Charlton - their fans are well cheesed off at losing Varney already. We're in a relegation fight. It's whether we have the stomach for it.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 We're not in the relegation zone tonight but we're certainly in trouble. Give it few more weeks...
Toomer Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I turned off when the third went in, Jan time to admit you are out of your depth and go. Total football my arse, all very neat and nice no end product.
mprobert Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I dont think many people will have seen through the brilliance of Jan's gameplan - thats a performance not to alert all the TV viewers to the talent on offer at St Mary's this January...cunning old fox

saint lard Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Impotent. Not me,Southampton Football Club.
Isla Wight Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 No Defence No Invention No Attack No Hope Goodnight PS - Great performance by the fans who attended. Don Goodman also raised this during commentary.
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Unbelievable. I'm not going to respond to you anymore. Anyone can see you are a reactionary idiot and your posts speak for themselves. Um Pahars didn't agree with me but his reply was a structured argument.
Saint_Jonny Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 So frustrating watching that crap tonight. So posession and **** ALL done with it. Unbelievable to watch really, AHHH!! Ill be SOOOOOO suprised if come january we're not in the bottom 3, we're doomed to many more years of embarasing misery and ****e. God im miserable.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 wtf!!!! WE ARE IN TROUBLE (as well as Charlton) If the league ended today, we're safe. Charlton aren't. They're in trouble, we're just not that good. 5 games - 6 points, not great is it. But not the end of the world either, eh?
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Give it few more weeks... It was only a couple of weeks ago that we beat Reading away from home. We are inconsistent not consistently ****e.
badgerx16 Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 If and when that happens I will be concerned. It hasn't yet and we are actually in a better situation than we were a couple of weeks ago! 4 goals scored and 6 points taken from 7 games since we started our "revival" at Preston. LOL !
Denzil Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Total what ? Chortle. Somebody please ban this f*cking Skate.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Still nothing of substance from the usual "it will be ok" or it`s improving" brigade.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Its whether we have the stomach AND strength for it. And in my opinion, we have neither. Another nostradamus - do me a favour and stick me down for three lines in the scoop 6 and the euro millions ta.
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 If the league ended today, we're safe. Charlton aren't. They're in trouble, we're just not that good. 5 games - 6 points, not great is it. But not the end of the world either, eh? Precisely. It isn't great of course!
alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Another nostradamus - do me a favour and stick me down for three lines in the scoop 6 and the euro millions ta. Wow, what a truly original put-down.
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Still nothing of substance from the usual "it will be ok" or it`s improving" brigade. 20 Southampton 22 1 5 5 8 13 4 2 5 11 19 -13 22 21 Watford 21 4 3 3 19 16 1 2 8 13 21 -5 20 22 Doncaster 21 3 4 4 4 7 1 2 7 6 17 -14 18 23 Nottm Forest 21 2 4 4 8 11 1 4 6 11 20 -12 17 24 Charlton 21 3 2 5 14 19 1 3 7 8 16 -13 17 There you go.
WealdSaint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 WEll after this I can't wait to go to the pub and watch United..................................................................................................................................I'll get my coat now
Nexstar Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Burnley next, no hope of getting anything there as chris eagles will run rings around us! Notts forest is a big game though and a must win for us to gain 3 vital points.
Verbal Kint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I thought it was just super. The way we passed to each other and managed to not have a single chance all game was wonderful. Well done boys. And especially you Lloyd James. In fact he sums this team up. ****ing weak and massively overrated. These kids are supposed to be talented. Not from what i'm seeing. BWP, Pearce, Lancashire, James, McGoldrick, Robertson are all woeful.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 20 Southampton 22 1 5 5 8 13 4 2 5 11 19 -13 22 21 Watford 21 4 3 3 19 16 1 2 8 13 21 -5 20 22 Doncaster 21 3 4 4 4 7 1 2 7 6 17 -14 18 23 Nottm Forest 21 2 4 4 8 11 1 4 6 11 20 -12 17 24 Charlton 21 3 2 5 14 19 1 3 7 8 16 -13 17 There you go. Oh that`s all good then,until it looks worse after tomorrow`s games and worse still after saturday.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Still nothing of substance from the usual "it will be ok" or it`s improving" brigade. Ok, here you go. We have a team of mainly academy, youth and reserve players. We are without three of the better of them. Previously they might have played 22 games in a season - they have played 22 in three months. We have a coach who has now had a total of 22 games in the English football. We have strikers on loan who have scored 80 goals between them in three seasons. We have no money. We are trying to build a football ethos and approach. Like anyone in this position we are struggling. Now, brains, what's your brilliant solution? And those of us who saw this coming and still enjoy the challenge are not some sort of morons. Just people who know that making omelettes means broken eggs and just occasionally setting fire to the hob... and have learned that patience is sometimes the most important virtue in life, let alone football.

corky morris Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 As the season goes on I get more & more worried. Toothless up front, light weight in midfield & soft in defence - Not a good recipe. I hope we are better at Burnley on Saturday - they are in form & we could get a hammering. But then again we play better against the better sides! Until Akinbiyi comes on as sub.

Long Shot Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 It was only a couple of weeks ago that we beat Reading away from home. We are inconsistent not consistently ****e. I would quit while you are ahead mate. I used to respect your views but tonight you are looking like King Canute!
cf saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 On train back from the game. We were poor but it was suicidal defending that undid us. Let a team score two in the first 15 mins at home and they then just sit back just like away sides at SMS and of course we can't break them down. We did look like we could score in the first half but the second half was drivel from both sides. Not sure anyone played that great for us (James maybe before the howler) but particular low marks for rudi, DMG, pearce and wotton. Good attempt by our fans at end of first half....and that is about it for the positives.
ottery st mary Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 If and when that happens I will be concerned. It hasn't yet and we are actually in a better situation than we were a couple of weeks ago! With some comments you would think we were dead and buried yet we arent even in the relegation zone. The boss at Northern Rock said similar just days before it all fell in on top of him. Hypo you never give up....Can you play striker or am I just full of drivel.
hypochondriac Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 4 goals scored and 6 points taken from 7 games since we started our "revival" at Preston. LOL ! It doesn't matter as long as we stay above the bottom 3.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Wow, what a truly original put-down. Hard for you to see from that basement, but we do have players with heart - if not latent talent. But that would spoil your delerious vision of impending doom... if nothing this season you cannot accuse the vast majority of our lads of not trying 100% every game. It might not be good enough, it wouldn't be their fault.
mprobert Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Most of the comments on here are about as knee-jerk as all the "we'll walk this league" stuff after we beat Reading. The truth is in the middle, were not that good and were not that bad - its a fight between about 6 clubs and lower mid table, with a season of gained experience, and financial survival, will be success.
The Godfather Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Utter rubbish tonight, carried on from the second half on Saturday. No fire power up front (again), poor defending, no leadership on or off the pitch.
Seaford Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Wow, what a truly original put-down. As sad as I feel about things seeing yet another of your posts makes it worse. I have never seen a positive post from you. I remember the anti Burley sentiments well enough......I conclude that in some perverse way you LIKE it when Saints are as they are now, really up against it.
Legod Third Coming Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Is that why we are going down to league one? Maybe Calvin - what would you change and how? I would bring John and Rasiak back to score goals. I've looked down my sofa but ain't got the cash. You?

But that would spoil your delerious vision of impending doom... if nothing this season you cannot accuse the vast majority of our lads of not trying 100% every game. It might not be good enough, it wouldn't be their fault. Is that all you've got ? The unshaking belief they are giving 100% ? Guess what ? Its not enough.

Solutions/alternatives have been posted on here many times by lots of posters so i don`t intend to waste time posting them again, instead i will bury my head in the sand and hope when i pull it out it will all be rosy. But of course in reality it will be far from it.
Arizona Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Oh boy, that was a*se gravy in its purest form. Don't remember forcing their goalie into making one real save. Absolute sh*te. Glad I was watching in a bar in Scotland where no one gives a sh*t. As for the players themselves... Davis - 5 Didn't do much except get the ball out the net 3 times. In no-man's land for the first, nowhere near the second and little he could do about the third. James - 3 Absolute toilet. Slow, short, made mistakes, none-entity going forward... it's like having Jermaine Wright back again. Just can't handle long balls over his head at all. Absolute howler for their third just to round it off. Pearce - 3 Deserved to go off. Was being pushed for the first, but had the strength of a fairy. Also struggled with long balls and there was just chaos whenever anything went between him and James. Perry - 6 Appaling for the first 20 minutes, seemed to wake up a bit after that. Reliable enough second half. Skacel - 8 MOTM. Absolutely brilliant diving tackle to prevent a goal after 50s. Made 2 more great tackles to deny players through on goal, including one off a Palace players feet, 1 yard out after 80 mins (he was offside anyway). Some decent crosses and was the player best possitioned to score on at least 2 occasions first half. You really can't ask for much more from a LB. Lallana - 6 Flattered to decieve. Plenty of running at players and fancy footwork, but I can't remember any crosses and only 1 shot, which was going weak, wide, outside the box and covered by the 'keeper. Surman - 7 Good passer, but didn't really create much.Probably our best midfielder today. Cork - 7 Solid enough in midfield first half, although most Palace long balls went well over the midfield. Much better than Pearce second half. BWP - 6 Good running at players and a few tricks, but never looked like scoring. DMG - 3 Sh*t. I can't really expand on that. Robertson - 3 As above. Send him back. Apart from the goal at Norwich, this guy has been as effective as cardboard plumbing. Play Pato instead. Subs: Wotton - 4 Forgot he was the pitch until he put a shot well wide after 70 mins. I guess that means he didn't make any glaring errors either. Mills - 6 Looked like he had something in him, but never really ha mch chance to show what he can do in an already beaten Saints side. Ref - 4 Didn't seem to object to Kuqi using Pearce as a punchbag and ignore what looked like a penalty for DMG after 4 mins.
Seaford Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Is that all you've got ? The unshaking belief they are giving 100% ? Guess what ? Its not enough. We know, we ain't stupid
alpine_saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 As sad as I feel about things seeing yet another of your posts makes it worse. I have never seen a positive post from you. I remember the anti Burley sentiments well enough......I conclude that in some perverse way you LIKE it when Saints are as they are now, really up against it. I hope that posting that drivel at least made you feel a bit better. Does the fact that I was spot-on about Burley have no bearing on how you view my posts ?
Northampton Saint Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Another sad night Pretty possession at times, gave the ball away too easily Totally no end product at all in the final third Lallana was not really noticeable at all - maybe we wouldn't miss him much We must hold onto Surman Please let one of our goalscorers come back - we could so do with a Beattie or phillips right now but Stern John or Saga would make such a difference!
