Liverpool v Saints Build Up

2 defensive midfielders isnt working as MS looks lost in there when VW plays, JWP needs to be starting (he's better already than Lallana and JRod IMO), and SRL can float between the midfield and Osvaldo

Boruc

Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw

----------VW-----------

JWP---Morgan--Lallana

--Osvaldo--Lambert

You are the 3rd person to say that on this thread... great minds think alike! Lets hope we can include Poch in that bracket!

The team that played on Sunday could easily have had 3 goals if luck had been with them but even if just Lambert's header had gone in the fans' attitude would now be very different. I doubt that Pochettino will make any unforced changes in the starting line-up. He has his settled League side and has only changed it when forced by injuries. I expect him to make tactical substitutions as usual during the game, most likely 2 from JWP, Ramirez or Davis depending on how the game is going with any other subs depending on injury, tiredness or yellow cards. I also feel confident that the Lambert - Osvaldo partnership is going to produce goals. Both were very close on Sunday and another day the on-target attempts will go in.

Spot on Prof...

The rest should stick to football manager games;)

Same team as West Ham for me, they did nothing wrong and we have been defending well. Better finishing and we could get a result, even at Anfield.

Not Ramirez away from home please, not to start with.

I've got a feeling we'll go with the same team. Will be really interesting to see how we get on in a completely different type of game to any we've faced in the last 10 or so matches.

And you're right, no chance that Ramirez will start at all on Saturday, I'd expect he's behing S. Davis in the pecking order for a starting slot away from home and maybe even behind Guly.

Heard Alan Brazil this morning talking about Liverpool. He mentioned their next two games "Southampton - nothing to worry about there" were the words that he used to brush our visit off so that he could move on to a cup game vs Man U, where Suarez might reappear. While it might or might not be true, I thought want a **** to be so dismissive of us even if our record at Anfield isn't very good.

Him not thinking we have a chance at Anfield doesn't make him a ****, if it does, then i'm a **** too as i think they will have nothing to worry about too.

I would defo go with Stephen Davis in this one. People keep going on about cork, but Davis has been unlucky not to feature this season.

Davis ahead of victor and ms, to pressure SG who sits a bit deeper nowadays.Personally, I think if we press them high up the pitch we may get some joy. Sit back and we'll get beat 2 or 3.

Let's get amongst them, I think they're due a dodgy performance. I'd go 4-3-1-2, with srl or Osvaldo having to drop in to midfield when they have the ball.

Same back 5

Ms, victor, jwp

SD

Srl , Osvaldo

I concluded last season that we could not afford the luxury of Ramirez and Lallana together, unless something has drastically changed I'd be reluctant to play both, who easily disappear from a game anywhere, never mind at Anfield.

Drop JRod for Ward-Prowse. Wanyama a different proposition away at league leaders. Bring on Ramirez for when Ricky tires and play one up front. Put Cork on the bench too.

I may get slated for asking this, but apart from excellent dead ball delivery and neat and tidy possession passing what is JWP going to provide as an attacking AM in place of JRod or instead of Lallana, Ramirez etc. (at this early stage of his career)?

He doesn't give the ball away as much as JRod, who to me looks out of his depth in this league.

Got to agree with this. J-Rod has to play for me.

His first touch is not good. His final ball isn't either.

But he can finish, and he can run at people. You need some pace in your team or the oppo will just push up and compress us in our own half. We do that and Liverpool will just be playing defence vs attack.

We need someone who can get in behind, and J-Rod is our only hope of doing that. Plus not sure how you can say his final ball is poor when he set up more chances than the whole of the West Ham side did on Sunday.

I'm not sure if Rodriguez's finishing is good enough, but his pace running at people offers us something different and he's very good when the pressing game is in use.

Found some beauties on the Liverpool pre-match forums:-

"Best player I've ever seen playing for Liverpool, at one point he could have played for any side in the world. I've never seen one man carry a club as much as he has for the past 10-12 years. It's a disgrace that the club never gave him enough support to win the league. He's probably the best player to play the game that's never won the league mad" - about Stevie G

"He's just my hero tbh. Would actually gladly let the guy fck my woman. My favorite player that ever has been and ever will be." - About Stevie G

"Went for 3-0, would have gone for 4-0 but it wasn't an option. think we'll finally have a good game, and Rodgers will get them putting in a decent 2nd half this time"

Suffice to say that not one of them has us down for a win, and only one credits us to score in a 1-1 draw (also the ONLY prediction that doesn't have us winning). Note I have also corrected several spelling errors and translated to provide a comfortable read for you all - couldn't be bothered with them all no.

On the back of this, and my general dislike of liverpool fans that have never been to a home game (let alone seen them play)

I will go for 2-0 saints, with Lambert to get his 199 and 200th (league?) goals for saints.

Another joyous piece of good news, cunhtino is injured, and of course no suarez, they look mighty toothless to me unless we gift them a goal)... yet they are predicting 4-0 and 3-0 wins. LOL.

Can't say any of those are too far out. I couldn't recall players from around the world but it's fair to say Gerrard's probably the best Premier League player to have never won the title.

I doubt we'll get tanked three or four nil but they're right to expect a win at home.

This is very encouraging, but they've got a reasonably deep squad now and won't field a team much weaker than the one we played at Anfield last year.

Bale and Le Tissier are at least on a par with him, and that is without even trying? Also that much praise for a man with his track record (especially with women, ba fights and hush hush court cases) needs some serious questioning... Or perhaps you agree and would like to let him sleep with your woman? :D

Also where the hell is your passionate defense of our team??? You've spent the last 2 days banging on passionately about the rights of gay men and anti homophobia... but another team, with widespread injuries, missing players and who got spanked at sms last season, dismiss us as "no challenge" and you think that is "about right"....

Seriously support the team! Or do they need to wear rainbow laces to get you interested?

Playing two strikers away at the top teams would require a seriously conservative midfield and only widen the gap between the middle and final thirds, a problem we had at home on Sunday. I can't imagine Pochettino will go for Osvaldo and Lambert but I'm not sure who he'd pick.

Haha, sorry - I absolutely support the team and think we are capable of getting a result but I can see things from their perspective. If we expect (rightly) to get a home win against West Ham, who tanked us 4-1 last season, then they can expect to beat us. Whether or not they will is another matter. At no point did I suggest we won't pose a challenge!

Bale and (though I hate to admit it) Le Tissier aren't on Gerrard's level. Bale has massive potential but potential he remains; Le Tissier was a phenomenal goalscorer but Gerrard has run the entire team, attack and defence, for over a decade. For me there are just a handful of players who can match Gerrard in the Premier League era, the likes of Giggs, Scholes and Lampard.

Still got....

---------Mignolet----------

Wisdom Toure Sakho Enrique

--------Lucas Gerrard------

Henderson--Aspas----Moses

---------Sturridge----------

Thats still a top side !

Now to me Sakho is a bit of a donkey (he'll probably play a blinder now that I've said that) and any striker with pace or guile or even better both could have a field day against him. Didn't get his ass kicked out of PSG for no reason, mind you at 16 million £

they're laughing all the way to the Bank of Qatar.

What gives me slight encouragement is how toothless Liverpool actually looked without Coutinho on Monday in the 2nd half.

He's a vital cog in their side now, they looked very static without him and the front players got less service.

It'll still be a very tough game though, one of our hardest of the season. Anything is a bonus.

Now we just need someone to convince Sturridge that England have a game coming up soon and he'll get "injured" too.

In fact Liverpool don't look all that ferocious in attack, 3 1-0 wins and then a 2-2 draw. The defence was good though because up until Monday night they hadn't conceded a goal, take away Agger and put in Sakho and they ship 2.

Looks like most sides are getting increasingly hard to break down, watched Utd on Saturday and until they got an iffy penalty and a red carded defender even Palarse were holding them at bay.
