5 wins in 20 games! Is this the next level?

I must say this tiresome 'digging up' old threads business that is seemingly becoming increasing popular on here lately is both argumentative and unnecessary in my view. Although I sidestepped this particular thread, I would hope most on here are mature enough to understand that fans call things as they see them at the time. Needless to say opinions of course often change over time.

Now sometimes looking back we emerged as wise and foresightfull posters ... and lets face it sometimes we end up looking silly. In either case lets not make too big a deal of it because it could happen to any of us and none of it matters very much in the final analysis does it?

Anyone on here want to claim that their every post is a model of sweet reason? Beware before you do so because a chaps posting history is a matter of record of course ...

Can't agree with that I am afraid. What's a forum for if it's not to be argumentative - and it is somewhat ironic you complaining about it. Worried that one if your efforts is going to get bumped or what? Anyway, Roger defo needed taking to task about this thread both at the time and now....

We've all gone out on a limb with outrageous comments from time to time, but successful sides don't materialise overnight or even after one or two significant wins, and some people do jump the gun.

I think the OP was a bit premature at the time it was posted, but nevertheless I think we've found a formula that is considerably better than was the case in the Spring. Time will tell.

If we don't get results from upcoming games v. Arsenal and Chelsea this site will be glowing hot with people calling for MP's sacking and lamenting the days when Nigel Adkins was king.

At the time the OP was made, it was a valid point to debate, especially in light of the improvements that began to manifest themselves under Adkins before he got the bullet.

Anybody who expressed reasonable doubts at the time when assessing the prospects of us being managed by somebody who was then an unknown quantity in English football was being far more subjective than those who had blind faith that his appointment was going to be a success.

The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing, but very few can now have lingering doubts about how brilliantly Cortese's decision has panned out. It was a very bold move on his part and credit must go to him for having the imagination and verve to go with his instincts, which have so far proven to be inspired.

Two steps forward and one step back with MP in my opinion.

What is the step back?

On the face of things, his man management seems to be spot on and he has a (largely) happy camp and is asking players to play a very physical game which they are doing and so far doing well. The defence is sorted. The midfield is dominant (so far). The attack might be a wee bit lacking in clinical finishing and we could score more goals, but that isn't really a step back. He likes the academy and wants to bring them through. So scratching my head a little to see the step back. Is it because he's foreign?
