Saint-Armstrong Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Goalless. Great game from Jaaskelainen. Didn't think we were bad, but some great saves.
Sheaf Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 West Ham were crap. Utter, utter crap. They were there for the taking and we couldn't find the quality to unlock their defence. Not too dis-heartened because we looked rock solid at the back (apart from one pinball moment leading up to Collins' spooned effort) but we are 4 games into the season and we still haven't scored from open play. Worrying.
Wrensup Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Too slow and too passy in the final 3rd is our major problem.
trousers Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Please sir, can we play teams that like to play football?
Turkish Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 The lack of goals is a massive worry. Only 5 goals in 9 games now, yes The keeper made some good saves and we hit the bar but there is a worrying trend forming in that we can't break teams down and quite simply can't score.
Edmonton Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Woeful.West Ham came looking for a point and got it easily. We lack cutting edge and are far too one dimensional. We don't ever look like scoring which is very alarming.
Bearsy Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 meh. Thought we were poor first half, better in the second. West Ham was shit for 90 minutes + injury time.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 15 September, 2013 Author Posted 15 September, 2013 I thought Osvaldo was great for us today. Didn't think we were poor second half, bitty first half though. Today it was a case of good chances, good attempts and good saves.
Saint Jude Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 we look much better playing the better teams... lack any quality to break down the dross
trousers Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 I thought Osvaldo was great for us today. Didn't think we were poor second half, bitty first half though. Today it was a case of good chances, good attempts and good saves. This
adrian lord Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Seems to me that decent players start at £20 million.
niceandfriendly Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Not fun watching Saints at the moment. Pochettino's got us playing some really drab unimaginative football.
Turkish Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Please sir, can we play teams that like to play football? Yeah, let's blame the opposition for doing their jobs.
Delmary Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Woeful.West Ham came looking for a point and got it easily. We lack cutting edge and are far too one dimensional. We don't ever look like scoring which is very alarming. Lack of width is a big problem.
Bewildered Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 We were gash first half, slightly better but still bad 2nd half. Rodriguez, Wanyama & Morgan all dreadful.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Not good. Complete inability to fashion decent chances and our most creative player left on the bench. Set pieces poor too and 4 games now without a goal from open play.
dello Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Toothless... Still irks me that we let Puncheon go! We have no penetration!!!
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Starting to come round to the idea that Pochettino's actually pretty sh#t
alpine_saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Phrases referring to cows arses, banjos and brothels spring to mind. Clueless. Atrocious.
trousers Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Yeah, let's blame the opposition for doing their jobs.
Batman Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Wanyama was crap Rodrigues crap Lallana crap Fonte and lovren look very good Osvaldo looked good Says something when the keeper is MoM Personally think its either lambert or osvaldo
Cascadia Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 meh. Thought we were poor first half, better in the second. West Ham was shit for 90 minutes + injury time. And they're still shit now in the dressing room, and will be shit on the way back up the M3. And we need to score.
geoffnut Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 No goals again, utter rubbish. Sack the manager!
Batman Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Toothless... Still irks me that we let Puncheon go! We have no penetration!!! Eh Their keeper was MoM
trousers Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Phrases referring to cows arses, banjos and brothels spring to mind. Clueless. Atrocious.
Special K Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Poor game. Still letting signings gel into team (except lovren). First touches need to be worked on. Seem to have lost some bite and try to walk the ball into the net. Perfect game for 25 yard shots dipping in front of keeper but neither team tried this. Strange.
redkeith Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Ossie looked lively, shame he didn't lift that shot. Wham set up to stop our fullbacks getting forward, which worked, but we did get through them a few times, only to be let down by poor touches from AL and particularly JayRod. The only worry really was from corners, but we defended them well.
corky morris Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Very poor today. Very slow going forward with little creativity. Thought Wanyama was poor. His passing was shocking. West Ham were terrible & we still couldn't score!!
Saint-Armstrong Posted 15 September, 2013 Author Posted 15 September, 2013 Not good. Complete inability to fashion decent chances and our most creative player left on the bench. Set pieces poor too and 4 games now without a goal from open play. We created multiple chances. I'm happy to agree when I feel it's right, but we did fashion 'decent' chances. Set pieces poor? We hit the post from one, and had Jaaskelainen flapping with others.
Saint86 Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Still no goals from open play (am I allowed to voice that as a concern yet), 2 goals all season.. and the best team we've played is Norwich. Plus 20m spenton mmidfield an attack with Wanyama looking worse than cork by the game. Still. Today was always going to be ugly. Coulve easily lost against another team we can't break down. We have more points than we had from these fixtures last season. Just. And the true market will be anfield

Ohio Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Final third is still a problem. But how come we can't make use of JWP's FKs? That's alarming to me.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Jaaskelainen played well, we dominated possession again but we are struggling to put the ball away. We seem to want to overplay but everyone was guilty of poor touch today for whatever reason
Saint Without a Halo Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 We had enough chances to win it but worrying that we have had just one luck win from 4 relatively easy matches
adrian lord Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 played like we were on Mogadon - lethargic, leaden and predictable.
NewYorkSaint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 I don't understand why Lallana is always first man off... but I thought second half strong overall, and on another day we'd be 2-0 winners. Morgan had a couple of spectacular strikes, Wanyama a lot better second half and Osvaldo is exciting to watch. I have a hunch we'll surprise Liverpool next week.
Batman Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 We had enough chances to win it but worrying that we have had just one luck win from 4 relatively easy matches There are no easy games in the prem.
trousers Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 We created multiple chances. I'm happy to agree when I feel it's right, but we did fashion 'decent' chances. Set pieces poor? We hit the post from one, and had Jaaskelainen flapping with others. May I bring it to your attention that this is a post match thread following our failure to win a game. You seem surprised by the usual SWF reaction?
Baird of the land Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Osvaldo looked lively, Lambert looked decent, the defence was pretty solid with exception of panic where collins almost scored. Terrible conditions, mediocre west ham team, 2 points dropped. Personally Wanyama was rather poor today and Saints were far too slow and cumbersome in possession. Can't believe Cork wasn't even on the bench as i would had him on today to get us moving the ball around.
alpine_saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Letting Pucheon go was a colossal mistake of Fitz Hall proportions
corky morris Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Lallana was certainly not crap. As ever can't criticise Lambert who was worse than Jay Rod. Lallana was more creative than ANY other player on the park. Wanyama was crap Rodrigues crap Lallana crap Fonte and lovren look very good Osvaldo looked good Says something when the keeper is MoM Personally think its either lambert or osvaldo
lordswoodsaints Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Horrible horrible team with horrible horrible tactics We had plenty of chances to win it but I suppose if you can't win it make sure you don't lose it
Batman Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Letting Pucheon go was a colossal mistake of Fitz Hall proportions Did you see how terrible he was yesterday?
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Letting Pucheon go was a colossal mistake of Fitz Hall proportions Yup, we were scoring freeley in the last games of last season and he is a workd beater.....
Bewildered Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Also, the attacking midfielders have got to come short and show some decent off the ball movement and give our CBs and DMs a good option to play it forward when play starts at the back. Lallana and Rodriguez don't do this, they wait for the ball to come to them by which time opposition have either organised themselves properly to deal with it or have someone on them ready to steal the ball.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 15 September, 2013 Posted 15 September, 2013 Just not clinical enough in the final third. Too many poor touches and hands held up to apologise. Sort it out ffs. And bench Wanyama for home games - too slow and cant pass.
