Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-0 West Ham

West Ham were crap. Utter, utter crap. They were there for the taking and we couldn't find the quality to unlock their defence.

Not too dis-heartened because we looked rock solid at the back (apart from one pinball moment leading up to Collins' spooned effort) but we are 4 games into the season and we still haven't scored from open play. Worrying.

Ossie looked lively, shame he didn't lift that shot.

Wham set up to stop our fullbacks getting forward, which worked, but we did get through them a few times, only to be let down by poor touches from AL and particularly JayRod.

The only worry really was from corners, but we defended them well.

Not good. Complete inability to fashion decent chances and our most creative player left on the bench. Set pieces poor too and 4 games now without a goal from open play.

We created multiple chances. I'm happy to agree when I feel it's right, but we did fashion 'decent' chances.

Set pieces poor? We hit the post from one, and had Jaaskelainen flapping with others.

Still no goals from open play (am I allowed to voice that as a concern yet), 2 goals all season.. and the best team we've played is Norwich. Plus 20m spenton mmidfield an attack with Wanyama looking worse than cork by the game.

Still. Today was always going to be ugly. Coulve easily lost against another team we can't break down. We have more points than we had from these fixtures last season. Just. And the true market will be anfield

I don't understand why Lallana is always first man off... but I thought second half strong overall, and on another day we'd be 2-0 winners. Morgan had a couple of spectacular strikes, Wanyama a lot better second half and Osvaldo is exciting to watch. I have a hunch we'll surprise Liverpool next week.

May I bring it to your attention that this is a post match thread following our failure to win a game. You seem surprised by the usual SWF reaction?

Osvaldo looked lively, Lambert looked decent, the defence was pretty solid with exception of panic where collins almost scored.

Terrible conditions, mediocre west ham team, 2 points dropped.

Personally Wanyama was rather poor today and Saints were far too slow and cumbersome in possession. Can't believe Cork wasn't even on the bench as i would had him on today to get us moving the ball around.

Lallana was certainly not crap. As ever can't criticise Lambert who was worse than Jay Rod. Lallana was more creative than ANY other player on the park.

Wanyama was crap

Rodrigues crap

Lallana crap

Fonte and lovren look very good

Osvaldo looked good

Says something when the keeper is MoM

Personally think its either lambert or osvaldo

Also, the attacking midfielders have got to come short and show some decent off the ball movement and give our CBs and DMs a good option to play it forward when play starts at the back. Lallana and Rodriguez don't do this, they wait for the ball to come to them by which time opposition have either organised themselves properly to deal with it or have someone on them ready to steal the ball.
