Gary Neville on Saints

I don't think there's anyone in the game whose opinion I respect more than Gary Neville. I hated him as a player but I love him as a balanced commentator who's willing to go against the grain and who's not caught up in the Big Four/Big Name adulation of his peers. His match analyses and observations put virtually all others to shame.

So that was a cracking read.

+1

Of all the various retired pro's who have moved into punditory without doubt he has very quickly stood head and shoulders above the rest, you can easily see why Roy drafted him into the England set up.

I agree. On Sky you think he tends to over analyse but thats his job. Andy Gray certainly did it.

To an extent Roy Keane is the same. Both pundits seemed to hide their loyalty towards ManUre in the interest of good balanced broadcasting. Both players were of course vile human beings whilst wearing the red in their playing days.

Why is this troll allowed to continue.....Mods?

Look at you! You're like the player that doesn't like a foul so goes waving an imaginary card under the nose of the referee.

How is it trolling? People on here hate the daily mail, always giving it hilarious nicknames like the 'fail' and 'daily racist' yet now it seems its a great read. Either it's a vile paper or it isn't. Typical response, don't like a post and its trolling.

Neville is a breath of fresh air to the football world. He shows how out of touch 90% of these so called experts are.probably the only pundit I stop and listen to when he talks.

Yep, by far the best and most interesting pundit on telly. Compare him to the nonsense spouted by Andy Townsend and lawrenson

Peter schmichel was the worst ever.

I always found Ian wright cringeworthy as well. Always trying to be enthusiastic and patriotic, can across as an idiot

I do like the way Roy Keane looks at Adrian Chiles, looks like he wants to rip him apart.

i liked keane after he told it how it was at the euros regarding Ireland. how the stereotype of them going having a laugh was way out dated and they should take it more seriously

That one did make me laugh. "Let's not just go along for the sing song every now and again."

All I have observed is you making reference to all the hate yet haven't observed it on here - what I have seen is you getting all precious whenever there is link to any article from the DM like some repetitive bore who cannot control his addiction to post to maintain his superiority complex Thanks for highlighting the hypocrisy though and guess you think the forum has a common voice and political allegiance?

although i would have thought even you may have been able to see a distinction between supporting its leader article and general political stance and actually enjoying what a sports columnist writes. You may be aware but many journalist move between Guardian and Telegraph without their copy changing.

I wonder if there is anyone who doesn't like Neville anymore? Remarkable considering how loathed he was in playing days but well deserved as a very insightful pundit and decent columnist as well. Oh yeah and the Saints praise helps!

Very much this. I hated him as a player and actually wanted to hate him as a pundit. It all turned out wrong as I now think he is one of the best out there and worth listening to. Plus, he doesn't care if it is united he needs to say something about. Something I didn't think he would do.

Great read Saint Charlie, thanks for posting. Did you or anyone come across Jose Mourinho's comments on how in England we have a need to create a system whereby the young players in England need to be playing 50 competitive games per season. Not just young players making up Under 21 teams but teams where they are mixed with experienced and older players. Seems that setting up new Reserve or B team leagues is what needs to be put in place. Even better, where such teams could enter the present league system if they're good enough.

Aha ..." young English players playing 50 games a season." ...does he mean.... like they do at Chelsea ?

Any subscribed to the SUN? If so, can they copy and paste Jose Mourinho's story on getting young players playing 50 competitive games per season? Here's the link

Be sensible ART, who's going to admit to being a Sun subscriber, it's like Men's mags, only people who read them seem to find them on the train or on pub tables or so they say.:rolleyes:

I used to always read the SUN sports online till they started charging for it. I'm sure others did or might have taken the 1 pound special offer. I don't give a f*ck just would like to read the article by Mourinho. Will have to ask on Twitter as there are former players that write in the SUN. :(
