Turkish Posted 20 September, 2013 Author Share Posted 20 September, 2013 (edited) It seems to have gone very quiet on this thread since the Jewish fella said he likes the yid chant. I wonder why that is? I'm sure if we had someone say they offended the usual suspects would be here with their 'see, see, look at this everyone is repulsed by it, lock anyone up whoever looks at anyone funny again and throw away the key' Edited 20 September, 2013 by Turkish
St Chalet Posted 20 September, 2013 Share Posted 20 September, 2013 Really interesting debate. The 'Y-Word' will likely follow the same path as the 'N-Word', it will be adopted by a group as a defence mechanism or an identity to shock as required. Search for the Richard Pryor live show on i-player for evidence. In a much more minor way I often introduce myself as a Pommie or Soutie when I am in South Africa, I get it in before I get any stick from the Dutchmen (excuse the racist term) My personal standpoint is that I wouldn't call a Jew or a Spurs fan a Yid, what they choose to call themselves - I couldn't give a ****. Tokyo-Saint Posted 21 September, 2013 Share Posted 21 September, 2013 I don't think Dutchman is a rascist term Chalet, give it 10 years and you may be right but not yet.
