Worst tackle ever?

Wow, I made a mistake.

Got a player who made a tackle 11 years ago wrong.

I'm just the worst.

Its not so much the mistake its the manner of the error. Mistaking a Moroccan centre back for a an attacking midfielder who had left the club from the same country. A kind of 'all the look the same those johnny foreigners' type error.

Saints related how?

Also don't think it was worse than McMannaman last year, or even kachoul on Dyer.

More just throwing his leg to trip him up and stop the break away.

Not that bad, just a leg thrown out as a body check.

That Roy Keane tackle was appalling - how cowardly. What a ****.

Absolutely disgraceful tackle, made worse by the c^nts later revelation it was deliberate, deserving of a life ban in my view.

It wasn't Kachloul - it was El Khalej (sic)

Edit: I see you have already been told :)

Ok, if you say so.

Probably more to do with it being about the time I started supporting Saints, barely 13 at the time, and didn't follow as closely as I did now.

Look for something more sinister if you wish.

You don't have to justify yourself to me mate, as long as you can live with it.

What a great find, thanks Lighthouse, first time I've seen that replayed.

Still convinced I watched that through the portaloo window in the side/corner of Plough Lane, but that's certainly how I remembered it happening. From our end/side it looked as Fashanu did a cartwheel.

Love the Franny one, and the three attempts by Cameroon is a classic that builds to a great finale.

Player survives previous challenges, horribly off balance, enter steam train from stage left...

As for Souness, in the style of some dinosaur commentators working on MotD now but still living in 1972, it was just mistimed, Souness had the ball, he's not that type of player.

Gobern was just ahead of his time knowing that Cooper would one day sign for pompey.

So rather than being late or dangerous, that was an early tackle - and a last spectacular chance to get a two-footed challenge in before the rules tightened.

Lolz. Quality comment in a quality thread!

Barely anything more than a trip/bodycheck.

Not sure how much of a tackle there was as I think it was more of a collision, but Dave Busst having his leg shattered against Man Utd in the '90s was horrendous. I think it was the one where they had to clean the blood and Peter Schmeichel's vomit off the pitch while Busst was being treated. He came very close to having his leg amputated and the sad irony is that his career ended due to contracting MRSA in the hospital and not the physical injuries in his leg.

Also that Keane tackle on Haaland, that was part of a long running feud between the two. Haaland half provoked it from years earlier due to previous comments/actions against Man U/Roy Keane

Not a horror tackle per se, but the sight of the aptly named David Busst getting his leg severed always makes me want to vom.

Talking of Irwin, he was subject to a horror challenge himself. Was in the Champions League I think, against....

Hmmmm I'm not sure. Possibly Feyenoord, though that might just be me being a massive racist again.
