Bewildered Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 While Rickie, JWP, Shaw and Chambers had good games for their respective England sides over the last couple of nights, we did have other players in action. Yoshida: Played 90 mins in a 3-0 win over Guatemala Boruc: Played 90 minutes as Poland held Montenegro Lovren: Played 90 mins for Croatia in a 1-1 draw with Serbia Davis: Played 90 minutes as othern Ireland lost 4-2 against Portugal Osvaldo had to sit out Italy's 1-0 win over Bulgaria due to suspension Targett played for Scotland u19s in a 1-1 draw with Iceland a couple of days ago Uruguay don't play for another 4 hours Finally in some bad news, Lloyd Isgrove played as Wales u21s lost to San Marino 1-0. This is the first game San Marino have won on field at u21s level as their previous two wins came via the other team forfeiting.
Saint Charlie Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 A lot of our players are important players for their country. Can only be good really. Would love to see Lovren play England some time.
ant Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Boruc certainly played his part in doing England a favour then. Looks like Davis had a bit of a 'mare against Ronaldo:
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Boruc certainly played his part in doing England a favour then. Looks like Davis had a bit of a 'mare against Ronaldo: He is rediculous, I dont care what anyone says, for me he is the best player in the world. All round brilliance and will do it in spain, England and for Portugal
Junior Mullet Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 He is rediculous, I dont care what anyone says, for me he is the best player in the world. All round brilliance and will do it in spain, England and for Portugal Still a little way behind Messi for me. That kid is seriously good.
Picard Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Uruguay beat Peru 2:1 but Gaston didn't play at all.
david in sweden Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Boruc certainly played his part in doing England a favour then. Looks like Davis had a bit of a 'mare against Ronaldo: well I'm sure he wouldn't have been the first to suffer that ......
Evil Monkey Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Davis should have cut him in half for that.
ottery st mary Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 As stated Targett played for Scotland U19s and young Gallagher (striker and very good prospect) from the academy ...also got on.
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Still a little way behind Messi for me. That kid is seriously good. Id like to see Messi doing it for a team that doesnt build a team round him first. But jesus, those two are another level
S-Clarke Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Isn't it great looking at the OS and seeing loads of England articles featuring our players? Lambert, Shaw, JWP, Chambers.....great time to be a saints fan.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 September, 2013 Posted 7 September, 2013 Isgrove's Wales U21s lost 1-0 to San Marino!
Saint_John Posted 8 September, 2013 Posted 8 September, 2013 Victor's Keyna won 1-0 in their World Cup game this afternoon. He was captain and played the full 90 mins, I believe he now returns as they have no other games. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/africa/matches/round=258334/match=300181931/index.html
There when Franny scored Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 Lovely assist from Gaston in Uruguay's crucial game - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAdhC77kJIc He came on as a second half sub when it was 0-0.
Minty Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 Am I being a bit harsh if I think his 'assist' was somewhat lucky/hopeful rather than being a measured/intended pass?
farawaysaint Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 Id like to see Messi doing it for a team that doesnt build a team round him first. But jesus, those two are another level I'm coming around to Ronaldo being better than Messi frankly, in terms of individual skill he seems a cut above the Argentinian. Messi has an edge in pace and dribbling but there really isn't much between them. Ronaldo is quite unfortunate to be playing now as otherwise he'd be the one compared to Pele and being called the greatest player ever and to be overshadowed by Messi with the skill Ronaldo has is quite cruel.
There when Franny scored Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 Am I being a bit harsh if I think his 'assist' was somewhat lucky/hopeful rather than being a measured/intended pass? I don't think you're being harsh, difficult to say if it was lucky or instinctive!
niceandfriendly Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 Am I being a bit harsh if I think his 'assist' was somewhat lucky/hopeful rather than being a measured/intended pass? He held it up well and put it into a dangerous area. Can't ask much more from that position.
max_saints Posted 11 September, 2013 Posted 11 September, 2013 boruc allowed san marino to score their first goal of the campaign while davis' northern ireland gave luxembourg only their 4th ever victory in a world cup qualifier.
