Honestly check out http://www.burasnow.com

The people who run Bura Snow are amazing one of the best holidays I have had and the best ski'ing trips I have ever done have been the with them (my mate goes with them 3 times a year and enjoys it the same each time).

They have just expanded to more sites as well but La-rossier was my fav place.

Did it a few years ago with our kids and had a fantastic time - and as WC says - snow is almost gauranteed.

I spent half a season in Tignes; its one of my favourite resorts, absolutely fabulous. High resort base so its very snow sure (at the beginning of another winter season I skied Tignes on 1st December in glorious conditions). Linked with Val d'Isere so the ski area is absolutely massive. A huge variety for all ability levels from wide, easy, long beginner runs, excellent cruisey blues and reds, decent black runs plus some phenomenal off-piste. And the snow parks are very good too. I'd struggle to find a fault with Tignes aside from the fact that the buildings and architecture is a bit ugly; but really, who cares about that?

One thing to be aware of though. There a 5 separate villages to Tignes. Val Claret is the highest up the valley, which is linked by bus (and the slopes of course) to Lavachet and Le Lac. Les Boisses and Les Brevieres are further down the valley at lower elevations and are much smaller villages. Still good access to the skiing but just something to bear in mind, the bus services to those two aren't as extensive as those of the upper three villages, which makes going out for drinks in the evening a bit more of a challenge.

Nail very much hit on head.

Good point about being careful where you book to stay. Pretty sure it was Le Lac we stayed in an was pretty much central to everything.
