Hatch Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 I sold a bike on EBAY with a buyer collects stipulation The buyer had paid, but now wants to cancel as he cant arrange collection. If I cancel the transaction and return the money to him, Do I still get charged a fee for the sale? Whats the best way to do this?

If you go through the resolution centre then all fees are wavered bar the insertion fee.
Nolan Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Your are perfectly within your rights not to refund them if the item clearly said it was collection only. Bidding on an item is a binding contract. Its their problem they can't collect nit yours. Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express

Nolan Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 & you clearly don't have a clue. Rubbish. There is no guarantee that if you auction an item again it will reach the same amount of money. If you put an auction up with a buy it now price then you have to abide by distance selling laws. Auctions are a different kettle of fish. Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
Hatch Posted 3 September, 2013 Author Posted 3 September, 2013 FWIW, it was a buy it now auction. And sold within about 6 hours of being listed, with 60 odd views. I am re-listing it at a much higher price, hence not being too fussed about the cancellation.

Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express Powerseller and teach courses on how to sell on ebay so I suggest that, just maybe, I know what I'm on about. Stick to telling everyone the XboX One is so much better than a PS4.
trousers Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 (edited) Is EBAY exempt from standard UK consumer/contract law? (I think that might be where Nolan is coming from here?) Edited 3 September, 2013 by trousers
View From The Top Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Is EBAY exempt from standard UK consumer/contract law? (I think that might be where Nolan is coming from here?) DSRs only apply to ebay sales from those registered as a company, not a private seller such as Hatch. Anyone who thinks any buyer can't get a refund because of the reasons Nolan posted clearly hasn't a clue how the system works. On another note, never accept paypal for an item that is collection only. It's a recipe for a classic con.
