pingwing Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 How long for? Not a bad idea for someone who hasn't made a massive impact here.
Matthew Le God Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 BBC Solent Sport @solentsport 50s French club Sochaux lining up a loan bid for Southampton's Zambian forward Emmanuel Mayuka, we understand #bbcfootball #frenchconnection
Saint Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 No bother. Do worry about us having no pace/plan B though.
Bewildered Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Best of luck to him, never looked short of effort on his fleeting appearances even if the quality wasn't there.
Window Cleaner Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 So he hasn't actually gone yet then? think he has, season long loan.
lumuah Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 If only there was a thread to discuss Deadline Day transfer speculation......
St Chalet Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 (edited) If only there was a thread to discuss Deadline Day transfer speculation...... Looks like this one has happened, so its ok to lament the loss that is Mayuka here. Edited 2 September, 2013 by St Chalet
Liquidshokk Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Shame. Seen comments about him coming back a better player and next season being his season with saints, but how often do players actually come back and play more of a role than before they left?!
Hatch Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Shame. Seen comments about him coming back a better player and next season being his season with saints, but how often do players actually come back and play more of a role than before they left?! Beckham went on loan to Preston once.
Dig Dig Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Beckham went on loan to Preston once. Wiltshere was at Bolton, as was Sturridge
cellone Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 never looked short of effort on his fleeting appearances even if the quality wasn't there. Apart from attempts at headers.
Bucks Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Best of luck to the modern day Nicky Banger
Give it to Ron Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Shame. Seen comments about him coming back a better player and next season being his season with saints, but how often do players actually come back and play more of a role than before they left?! Ricardo Fuller loan to Ipswich? came back a far better player for us.
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Best of luck to the modern day Nicky Banger more of a Frankie Bennett i think.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 still means we have less pace than ever
Window Cleaner Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 thought he could have done better than Sochaux, they aren't all that good but as it's right on the Franco/Swiss border perhaps this is a move to put him back nearer where he wants to be. Thought we might have been interested in Boudebouz from FCSM but he's now going to Bastia for a measly million €s
Tokyo-Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Respect to GS for breaking another story.
Lighthouse Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Will have difficulty replacing all the goals he scored last season... hmmm. Good luck Yukka, come back a better player.
DuncanRG Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 He's shown some moments of potential in his fleeting appearances but will need to prove himself with regular football to get into the side. Good luck to him, and I sincerely hope he can be a success for us because I like his style.
Bucks Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 still means we have less pace than ever We need pace which produces real threat and end product. We have the same amount without him
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Author Posted 2 September, 2013 Respect to GS for breaking another story. Thank you mate - you dont hate, you appreciate and that is all I ask.
pingwing Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Just read they have sold their top striker as well, sounds like a decent move if they are going to stick him out every week for the rest of the season.
richard Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Good Luck Mayuka! Hope the move works out for him.
davefizzy14 Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Good luck Mayuka. Hopefully he will do well there
Giordano Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 (edited) Sochaux just became one of my favorite French teams. I shall watch them on BT1+2 whenever possible and report back. I am interested to know what Mayuka can do if given a run in a team that believes in him. I wanted to see him play but it does not seem to be that we will, unless its for the french lot. He is meant to be fast and a goalscorer. Hope he scores plenty goals quickly. Good luck,Mayuka. If im ever over there i might go visit. And I hope he does well for the Chipolopolo. Edited 2 September, 2013 by Giordano
aintforever Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Surely this means we are going to get someone with pace in as a replacement?
Window Cleaner Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Sochaux just became one of my favorite French teams. I shall watch them on BT1+2 whenever possible and report back. Ickly. you risk being seriously disappointed then, they are awful, narrowly escaped relegation last season and this season isn't really looking any better. No money because of all the Peugeot layoffs over the years. He'd have been far better off going to the NPC but I seriously suspect that he wanted to be nearer Switzerland for some reason or other. To judge the level of your average ligue 1 team you just have to look at the Europa League qualifiers, St Etienne booted out by some Danish side or other and Nice (4th last time round) overturned by a Chypriot club I think. PSG+Monaco = loadsamoney,Marseille keeping battling and hoover up some young French talent cos Marseille well it's Marseille but the rest is garbage. Lyon were put out of the CL fairly easily by Sociedad...yeah right.
IOWSaintDaz Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 About his level playing in the french league, was pants for us when given the chance, hope we reinvest the money on his wages on a winger we are desperately short of pace in the team now he has gone

Sochaux's total budget must be somewhere around 32 million £, about half of our PL handout not to mention commercial and ticket revenues. Edited 2 September, 2013 by Window Cleaner
the saint in winchester Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 84th best player in the world, IIRC. Must mean Guly, Barnard and Sharp are staying!
Window Cleaner Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 84th best player in the world, IIRC. Must mean Guly, Barnard and Sharp are staying! what for ? Loan window doesn't close and none of those 3 will be going to a top flight team..well unless it's in Albania or something.
aintforever Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Mayuka must have been worse value for money than Delgado.
pap Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 We'll sign who we want We'll sigh who we want We'll bin them next year But we'll sign who we want Loan move good for him, but was expecting to see him feature in cup games. Youth players for those?
Barry Sanchez Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Another belting signing, cheers Leslie.
maysie Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Another belting signing, cheers Leslie. Saw your name as the last post and guessed the content. I was spot on.
hutch Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I'm sure the Chelsea fans were saying exactly the same when they sent that crap striker Lukaku out on loan for a season.
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Great policy ideas chaps, keep buying "much sought after" players we've never heard of who never kick a ball in anger for Saints then we let them go again for next to nowt. Only explanation can be that it is some kind of tax fiddle otherwise you couldn't make it up
Barry Sanchez Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I'm sure the Chelsea fans were saying exactly the same when they sent that crap striker Lukaku out on loan for a season. There is one difference between Lukaku and Mayuka, Lakaku is awesome and Mayuka is shiit but other than that wey hey!
Saint_clark Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Have to say I am quite surprised at this, although I think with his young age he could easily impress there on loan and come back to do a job for us.
Dig Dig Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Have to say I am quite surprised at this, although I think with his young age he could easily impress there on loan and come back to do a job for us. That's probably him finished with us though. Hardly used in first season, loaned out the next and even if he does well there, he'll come back with a year or two on his contract and would prob want to opt to go elsewhere rather than risk another season of being not used or loaned out.
sammysaint Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Sharp may as well get some game time now, no need for the management to not inc him in the 25 man squad, one injury or 3 game ban and were short of strikers.
ART Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Sharp may as well get some game time now, no need for the management to not inc him in the 25 man squad, one injury or 3 game ban and were short of strikers. Not so sure whether we can bring ourselves to make use of every single body at the club. We seem to like to let the odd couple of million go to waste. I ask myself if Mayuka was a genuine deal or a 4 million euro money laundering deal. That we have so much supposed waste money being frittered away by a chairman who's one of the best financially astute dealers around leaves me thinking the loose strings have to be tax evasion loopholes.
ART Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 P.S. I note that Billy Sharp's Number 11 shirt is still not taken. Why is it no one can tell us what Sharp and Co have been doing since the Eastleigh game to earn the money we are paying them. Have their been any genuine sightings of any of them on the training ground?

Why is it no one can tell us what Sharp and Co have been doing since the Eastleigh game to earn the money we are paying them. Have their been any genuine sightings of any of them on the training ground? Billy, Barnard, Tananari have all been told they are not in our plans. They have not been included in the squad and have been told not to turn up to staplewood any more. Lots of clubs have tried for Billy, but none of them want to match his wages. Personally, I think Billy was a bit of a panic deadline day signing for us.......not the sort of signing we usually make, as it was clear he wasn't ever here for the long-term. We obviously overpaid on him in terms of wages to get it over the line, as he was never massively keen to move down South.

But I think he was purchased for exactly what he did - To give us the extra fire-power to ensure promotion.
alpine_saint Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 I agree that we overpaid him. But I think he was purchased for exactly what he did - To give us the extra fire-power to ensure promotion. And he did that admirably. I fail to see the sense to not even give him his (still open) squad number...just in case...especially as we have limited striking options and we are paying him.
