Saint-Armstrong Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 ADULT - £18 CONCESSION - £14 UNDER 17 - £10 UNDER 11 - £5 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/bristol-city-date-set-1029994.aspx
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 what a shame that the chance to get a decent crowd in has just been wasted.
LGTL Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Wish this was away, would have have been much more realistic prices. It's a bonus home game for saints, why not just charge a tenner?
Matthew Le God Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Wish this was away, would have have been much more realistic prices. It's a bonus home game for saints, why not just charge a tenner? Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs.
scotsaintsfan Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 The 27th September is a Friday not a Tuesday !!
Turkish Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs. So we agreed to £12 at Barnsley then. Why the hike for this one?
Window Cleaner Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 £18   why not, people paid £25 to watch us play them just a couple of years back. Think we might see something approaching the full side out as well, winnable game will leave us what, 2 games from Wembley ?
Hatch Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Maybe they only want to open one part of the ground for this one.
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs. the home team will propose the pricing, just happens to be the same we had for pre-season and for other such cup ties, will struggle to get over 10k i think.
stevegrant Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs. While this is technically true, the way it usually works is that the home team tells the away team what they are proposing to charge, and the away team will only disagree if they think they'll lose out heavily. Saints won't have asked Bristol City what they think we should charge, let's put it that way.
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 why not, people paid £25 to watch us play them just a couple of years back. Think we might see something approaching the full side out as well, winnable game will leave us what, 2 games from Wembley ? behave, we would still have 4th round, 5th round, 2 leg semi final....... 4 games from Wembley. there will be about 10k for the game. anyone who went to Sheff Wed at home last year in the same round will know how dead the atmosphere was in a 1/3rd full ground with whole stands closed.
stevegrant Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 why not, people paid £25 to watch us play them just a couple of years back. Think we might see something approaching the full side out as well, winnable game will leave us what, 2 games from Wembley ? A couple of years back we were in the same division. There are now 53 places between us in the league.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 £18 is criminal. Who the hell decides these?! Tenner max!
Turkish Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 In the plus side all those fans that think they won't be able to get a ticket so don't bother trying will be able to get in.
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 it would be nice if they stopped the whole charade around loyalty points as well, 20 points for this one apparently..... but that won't help you getting away tickets which is based on number of away games attended rather than points accumulated.
DJ_TOAST Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 meh think £15 would have been my max, shame.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs. 20,000 paying £10/£5 or 7,000 paying £18/10. either they dont give a crap about fans or there sales forecasting is in dream land
Appy Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Absolute joke. I'm working that evening, so won't be going anyway, would've gone if I was off and the price was acceptable though.
St Lej Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 What a total rip off. Quite. I remember in 06/07 when we had 26,000 ish for a 2nd round league cup game against Yeovil and price was a tenner. We'll be looking at 10,000 absolute max here, more likely to be 8,500-9,000
S-Clarke Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Quite. I remember in 06/07 when we had 26,000 ish for a 2nd round league cup game against Yeovil and price was a tenner. We'll be looking at 10,000 absolute max here, more likely to be 8,500-9,000 It was a tenner and kids for free I believe, Adam Lallana's debut game - remember it well. As you said, we got a decent crowd that day too. I think it was closer to 20k though.
St Lej Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Ok, just checked, 20,600. Still a good crowd though!
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 traditionally games like this and pre-season were where a lot of young saints fans got their first taste of going to a game, cheap prices would attract fans that were also struggling to afford Premier league games. this would still cost £28 for a dad and 12 year old, plus booking fee. rip off. i know it is a different scale, but Brentford v Wimbledon in the JPT tomorrow night is £5 for adults.
BadgerBadger Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I've often wondered why they don't lower the price to increase the crowd plus missed opportunity to get some potential new comers through the door
suewhistle Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I certainly won't be going. With a tenner you can just about convince yourself to ignore all the other costs by saying "It's only a tenner". You might even persuade a friend to come along on the same basis, or take a neighbour's kid as a treat. At £18 they won't see _any_ of my money, and I really hope the marketing people are reading. I think they'd be surprised at the growing sentiment against the cost of football, and how with current prices they really aren't recruiting the fans of tomorrow. As short-sighted as politicians.
100%Red&White Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Ridiculous price. It will be justified by some as the 'south is an affluent area', that may be true in many areas but I don't think it really applies to most of Southampton. I know we pull in fans from a wide area but for a midweek, unglamorous, League Cup tie you're more likely relying on locals to fill the ground - at £18 a pop many will give it a miss. Mistake imo.
View From The Top Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 £13 for my nipper & I at Barnsley. £28 for the next round against a team a division lower. Bonkers.
davefoggy Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Crazy price. I would have gone if it was a tenner. So would my brother and dad, £30 total. No way any of us are paying that
saints_is_the_south Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Had planned on going, but won't be now. Should be a tenner and an absolute maximum of £15. Went to the Sheff Weds game last season, about 8K there and a dire atmosphere. Charge sensibly for this and you'd have seen about 20K IMO, with a healthy away following too.
Mowgli Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 £18 is criminal. Who the hell decides these?! Tenner max! It's 50% off ffs
Saint Benali Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Stupid pricing. Cup games should be included in the season ticket like Arsenal do. £18 to watch our reserves.... Rather put that towards an away game price.
The Cat Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Did any of the people complaining about the price of this pay the same to see the Sociedad friendly? Personally I think it's a little overpriced (should be £15) but I will probably still go as I saved £18 not going to see a pre-season training match.
Steeleye Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Can't help thinking you're all moaning about the wrong ticket price - you pay double this for the Prem and you just accept it cheerfully. Get over yourselves.
Whitey Grandad Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 It's 50% off ffs What's that, £18 to watch Saints and get Bristol City for free?
alehouseboys Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Did any of the people complaining about the price of this pay the same to see the Sociedad friendly? Personally I think it's a little overpriced (should be £15) but I will probably still go as I saved £18 not going to see a pre-season training match. Probably not, the small number that turned up to that overpriced friendly are the ones that are likely to turn up to this overpriced one. Tenner max.
JRM Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Probably not, the small number that turned up to that overpriced friendly are the ones that are likely to turn up to this overpriced one. Tenner max. this. people saying "get over yourselves" yet no intention to go themselves are most annoying. for match going fans we're faced with a dilemma , would like to go but know the club are taking the **** with the prices so probably won't. same with the friendly. good idea throwing this game in with season tickets , that would get a decent turn out. 8,954 my prediction for attendance.

Barry the Badger Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 20 loyalty points, who the hell are they trying to kid? Loyalty points, lol.
dronskisaint Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Stupid pricing. Cup games should be included in the season ticket like Arsenal do. £18 to watch our reserves.... Rather put that towards an away game price. Have you looked at Arsenal season ticket prices!!? I'd want a limo to take me there too... £18 isn't out of the way for a Premier team with all the associated expenses and it's for a game against a relatively local team. I'd be happier if we could get a third more people in for a third less on the gate money (£12 for the mathematically challenged) but I'm not party to the prediction information that the club have...much as I hated the Norwich tickets not getting to general sale I understood the explanation.
Lets B Avenue Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 20 loyalty points, who the hell are they trying to kid? Loyalty points, lol. Our mate that got our Barnsley tickets, tried to get our customer numbers recorded but was told this wasn't necessary. Suitably narked I called in at the T/O before we left for the match to get this changed. I was told that the "loyalty point system" didn't apply to League Cup games and she couldn't add it to our purchase history. I asked her why it was specifically mentioned in the Official Site. She had no idea. Now it gets trotted out again. 20 points for this one! Wow!! Compared to only 15 for an away game in Barnsley?? Yet all away games are still sold on the number of away games attended (if you are lucky and the system hasn't gone to sh it again). They haven't got a fecking clue, have they?
SaintBobby Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 The loyalty points system thingy is just bizarre and totally incompetent. Agree with those saying this match is mispriced too. I doubt it will maximise revenue and, in any event, it's worth getting more fans packed in to increase our chances of winning. Madness.
Batman Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 15k MAX with that, most will moan on here how bad that is, but it will still be one of the higher crowds of the round
stevegrant Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 15k MAX with that, most will moan on here how bad that is, but it will still be one of the higher crowds of the round Bet it won't. We'll be lucky to get 10k, IMO, with those prices, and only the games at Burnley, Watford, Birmingham and Tranmere will be anywhere near as low.
Batman Posted 3 September, 2013 Posted 3 September, 2013 Shame. I would have gone otherwise. thought you were on a self imposed ban anyway?
100%Red&White Posted 4 September, 2013 Posted 4 September, 2013 Saw a post on the UI earlier saying Sunderland are charging a tenner for adult tickets for their home game and Hull £12 for their 'local derby' with 'uddersfield.
stevegrant Posted 4 September, 2013 Posted 4 September, 2013 Prices for most of the other games in the third round have been announced: Aston Villa v Spurs - Adults: £15-20, Concessions: £10 Birmingham v Swansea - A: £15, C: £4-10 Burnley v Nott'm Forest - not announced yet Fulham v Everton - A: £20, C: £5-10 Hull v Huddersfield - A: £12, C: £3-8 Leicester v Derby - A: £15, C: £1-15 (seniors pay the same as adults at Leicester) Man City v Wigan - not announced yet Man United v Liverpool - A: £40-47, C: £13-36  Newcastle v Leeds - not announced yet Southampton v Bristol City - A: £18, C: £5-14 Sunderland v Peterborough - A: £10, C: £5 Swindon v Chelsea - A: £25, C: £12-19 Tranmere v Stoke - A: £15.50-17.50, C: £3-10 Watford v Norwich - A: £15, C: £5-10 West Brom v Arsenal - A: £15, C: £5-10 West Ham v Cardiff - A: £15, C: £10 Summary: we're more expensive than every game except 3 all-Premier League ties and one lower league v big PL club tie. The only real comparison (i.e. PL team at home to League One team) is Sunderland, who - as mentioned previously - are charging a tenner.
