As we are including this season, can we add Adkins Reading record?

 

No sorry mate this is the Saints forum.

 

If i add Adkins Reading results someone will just ask me to add mopo's Espanyol record and that would make mopo look really really bad which isnt the point in the thread

I for one am relieved that MoPo is as good as Adkins. I was worried that it was a massive risk when we made the change. Big of you to flag it up now as well because I think you voiced many reservations at the time ;-)

Just got sick of the mopo bashing mate! Good to show that mopo is just as good as Adkins (in the prem)

Interesting stats....maybe compare the stats after the first ten games for both, but for some that wouldn't be good either because of the teams we started against last season compared to this season.....

One of the big pros about Pochettino was supposedly his ability to bring in bigger signings like Osvaldo. Let's see how they settle in first, and see how we are doing halfway through the season once it's all settled rather than after three games. Most analysts seem to think he has the team for a top half finish, so let's hope he can deliver.

When we won those three games in a row the OP claimed it was because it was Adkins team....

 

Now the losses is claimed to be because of MP....

I would suggest that if we lose the next three games so that pochettinos record matches Adkins, he will be under severe pressure.

 

If we win them all, their records will not be comparable.

Well they will be comparable, it's just that Poch's will be much, much better.

Its amazing what spending £36m since January buys you - in our case 4 goals in nine games.

 

That is, honestly, one of the dumbest posts I´ve seen here...........and why is that?

 

Well first of all, those money that has been spent has been with only THREE games followed, and actually £15m of those spent has only been followed by TWO games....

But hey, dont let the truth stop you....

Agree - and its management / tactics, we have the players. Loaning out our second highest scorer last season was a bad decision.

Maybe, punch is ok but he isnt the player to take us to where we want to be I dont think. Good luck to him in London I say, had a great season for us last year but I dont know if he will this year.

 

He needs to make a few little changes, you all know my thoughts, I am worried that we struggled to score against WBA and Sunderland who look like 2 of the worst teams this year.

Sure, Puncheon isnt the long term answer - but he was a good option to have on the bench at a time when the goals aren't coming.

True, plus Im not sure he woukd have got the game time he wanted, plus this supposed family issues have muddied the water but all in all I think our lack of goals have highlighted his move more than if we were sticking it in the back of the net

Let’s say that results do improve and in 20 games I do a similar review - at this time Mopo and Adkins don’t have a similar prem records. The trolls on here would simply say that he has a team with a years worth of premiership experience and spent £30m signing 3 x internationals so of course we would and should improve.

 

Makes me angry but think mopo is on a hiding to nothing!

 

Can’t wait till we are playing well and winning all the time - at least then the trolls will be happier.

Adkins' dismissal in a nutshell:

 

Fulham at home 6th October 2012- 1-0, 3 offensive players subbed, 1-2 down in 10 minutes. Lucky to get a draw from a set piece.

 

Liverpool love in.

 

The rot started after we lost at home to Reading, that was when the relationship between Adkins and Cortese started to break down, he was a dead man walking from then on.

To be fair, Puncheon had a very good game on Saturday.

 

Maybe we should have played him against Sunderland?

I agree we should improve this season - what with the money spent + year’s prem experience. But the problem is how will mopo ever be judged a success? Unless we finish top 8 I think the trolls will just say he has failed???

Also don't forget the first ten games of last season we can write off because we were adapting the the premier league, we aren't dojng that this season, so there are 8 extra games we can expect to get points from this season.
