I don't ever understand people who don't count penalties as goals, or just brush them off as not really meaning anything stats wise.

 

If i'm not mistaken, the ball leaves the players foot and ends up in the goal, yes? Therefore he's scored a goal and that adds towards his stats.

He came on second half and helped turn the game around! So does that mean Italy are thrown out of the world cup for playing a non named substitute?

 

Eurosport managed to name him on their website on the live coverage...
