Here is the facts bout the forums that I know bout! You can decide urself if these facts is pros or cons:

Saintsweb:

  • Has nicest easy read layout or whatever
  • Has lots of v.interesting + amusing posters
  • There is lots of arguments which is amusing/annoying depending on ur point of view
  • You have to pay £5 or they'll put you on registered list and no-one will pay attention to ur posts cos you don't have avatar

Not606

  • You get like points and awards when you do a good post
  • You can wander about in there + troll on other club forums if you want to
  • They don't really like it when you talk about things that aren't about Southampton, you have to do it in this one thread called Beefy so anything interesting off topic gets a bit lost

Ugly Inside

  • It is v.ugly + bit difficult to figure who is saying what cos it's laid out funny
  • The mod guy on there Nick is v.good mod who mostly leaves people alone
  • It sometimes reads bit like the posters is v.old and haven't really used internet before

Its a shame really. Like SaintsForever this used to be THE place for all Saints news but its dying and unceremonious death. Sadly ruined by a vocal minority.

If only the silent majority would post anymore we could clean this place out and jump on any kn0bhead posters.

I might bugger off back to SaintsList on Yahoo Groups... a much more discerning read. Does Stallard still post there??

I thought saintslist had died a slow death. I've always found this place/previousincarnations to be best because that's where the people are. I want an active forum for discussion.

You are a wag Turkish. One of the biggest trolls on here but at times you give good debate.

MiserableOldGit should be given the respect he deserves. Too many posters have left due to the intimidation a pack mentality on here.

Yes we all put some nonsense on here but some just do it for effect and to make an online celebrity.

MOG don't let it get you down,we all get to an age where the childish posts cheese you off but just skate over them and read the educated and decent debate. Not mine of course bu there are some good and also very amusing posters on here still

I really like a bit of banter. For some reason I find Bearsy a bit of a laugh. It`s the 'serious' know it all 'characters' who post crap as opinion (the catch it all excuse) to show what 'Billy Big-********' they are that get my goat. Quite happy to debate stuff with people of different opinions providing that they are happy listen to opposing views. Too many on here are not.

What really irritates is that there are at least half a dozen identical topics posted under different titles that could be amalgamated under one collective title, "Boo Hoo We're in The Poo." Just make that a sticky and redirect all the bed-wetters to that topic.

Then the clappers would come on and wind up the wetters, without the day there can be no night, the wetters like me know this but the clappers cant and wont admit it.

I agree. Bearsy gets it absolutely right. He's funny, and more often than not has a decent point despite that. Too many posters just resort straight to the pointless insult.

This place is the best forum for Saints info and opinion on the internet imo.

The problem for me and what puts me off becoming a full member and/or posting more regularly is that almost every thread gets dominated and hijacked by the handful of members who have axes to grind, personal vendettas to pursue, cannot have a sensible debate where one respects opposing views and responds in an adult fashion, those who are obsessively negative about the club they "support" and those who cannot go a day without proclaiming they were right about some small point (and continually keep reminding us of said same view).

I have been a member of all kinds of different forums in the past. Some relating to my hobbies and interest and others relating to my professional life. Of all the weirdos one can find on the World Wide Web this is the worst forum for the above.

Having said that, I log on daily so it can't be THAT bad (but it would nice for threads to remain on topic and not hijacked by the same old members - too much to ask I know).

I like this forum the people who moan about it are always on here, it cracks me up, the total hypocrisy as they love to moan about others or grass them up or seek their removal, pretty low on their behalf, just ignore and dont respond, but they do they always do as they love it.

We get these threads once a month it seems but those that start them and promise to "NEVER POST AGAIN" always do

MOG on the other hand is one of the best posters on here (imo) i like his posts a lot. Not sure what or who has upset him today

I have been on this forum and its predecessors for years. I check in regularly for news, rumours and views of other Saints fans, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to participate in threads because they all get hijacked and turned into a "knob waving" competition. As an "old git" perhaps I am expecting too much. Perhaps reasoned debate is old hat and it is all about cyber one-up-manship.

Why do you with the greatest of respect parade your age around as if its a badge of honour?

You are a person like me with equal opinion.

Like a 30 year old person's opinion is as valid as a two year old's opinion? Sure, respect is earned and not given due to age or whatever, but experience should still get merit for most opinion based things in life.

I wasn't aware that I did, but I grew up in an age before the internet when generally discussion/argument was face to face. Now it is easy to present any image in an argument because it is anonymous and an ideal opportunity to big yourself up without any real come back.

You mean like wearing out your welcome as one user name and then coming back with another one and pretending you are someone else entirely? Just like porn and copyright infringement, That will never happen on the internet. :)

I agree it it but its just as easy to ignore, there are plenty of discussions where these supposed problem posters dont post, it seems to me its an issue as people air an opinion and its not shared, I dont agree with probably 99% of posters on here but it bothers me not in the slightest, the more variance the greater the forum.

I like this forum. I do not let anything get to me (water off a ducks back), and I just post how I feel.

I also think that this season will be the best season we have had in the top flight since the early 80's and I feel we can go further with the ambition we have.

That is all.

I do not have a problem with people having different opinions. That is the joy of debate. What I do have a problem with is people who post provocative stuff as "opinion" purely to get a reaction. This is pathetic and tiresome for an "old git" like me - there's that badge again! Sadly the the proportion of posters who fall into that category is increasing on TSW

I'm sure I will get stick from the usual people for saying this (and no, I'm not pretending I 'know it all'), but experience and knowledge doesn't necessarily correlate with age. Some people have done and know more by the age of 30 than others do by the age of 60. Not that that gives anyones opinion to be sacred, as we all experience things from our own point of view.

However, this whole debate seems a bit serious for a forum which is basically about football chit chat.

I tend to agree. What are the chances of sticking to chit chat?

I am quite happy to be shot down so do your worst. This forum is really ****ing me off now. The knee jerk reaction from some of the knob jockeys on here is unacceptable. I enjoy the cut and thrust of sensible debate but the knobs and trolls that have taken over unopposed on here have made me think twice about posting. As I said on another thread, the the lunatics have taken over the asylum. People will say that it's all about opinions. I say that it's all about common sense. Fill your boots.

I don't understand some of the overly negative views on here, but posters are entitled to share them. I do wonder why some spend excessive time following saints and writing here when it isn't making them happy?? You live once, if it gets you down so much..?

The posts yesterday, writing off the new signings were unbelievable. Current Italian international slagged off after full debut, VW described as £20m players after game one is crap after game two...bizarre.

Console yourself that the negative trolls are wrong time and time again. Facts show which school of thought has been the realistic ones.

This forum has been great for news, particularly learning about new signings as I don't follow any overseas leagues.

There are probably only five posters who seem to want to hijack threads. When they discuss football, all but one, can give reasoned intelligent views and I genuinely respect their opinions. What gets tedious is wading through the repetitive digs, sarcasm, calling others that disagree deluded, trying to start arguments when they don't exist, making up / twisting posts.

I've seen loads of posts mocking the deluded happy clappers for thinking we would finish above Arsenal, but not noticed single post saying we are close to Arsenal??!!

I can chat football pretty good, what I can not stand (not to the point of ever wanting a ban or closure or someones account) is overly optimistic blind faith with absolutely nothing to back it up other than a liking/love for said team whilst at the same time dismissing other teams around equalling as blindly, surely even the most basic person can see this one eyed parochial inward looking approach is flawed.

I think we should talk about the elephant in the room. We all know that the OP is talking about Barry Sanchez.

I don't have a problem with Barry and certainly don't think that he is the miserable, lonely, internet-obsessed, sad c*** that most of the people on here think he is. I quite like him.

Agreed. We see it all the time. A poster expresses an opinion the majority don't like and its trolling,,regardless of the validity of the post.

No. It is the likes of you that can't just post your opinion you have to add exaggerated and snide jabs at other posters when doing it.

Here's an example from a current thread.

It's still a decent forum, there are plenty of posters on here that are willing to enter reasonable debate. You just need to know who to ignore, it's quite obvious these days though as they've become quite sad parody of themselves in some cases.

A massive proportion of members don't both to post....
