According to official LFC Ticket website we have returned tickets that went on sale on Fri 16th Aug.

Surely this cannot be the case???

But we would be able to sell all our tickets !! so why are we giving some back????
The club don't think we'll sell the full allocation. We didn't sell out at Everton last year with much cheaper tickets.

But surely our allocation only went on sale from Tuesday August 27??
Well the OP suggests that Saints had made a decision on what allocation we were going to take on the 16th of August, so Liverpool could start selling them to home fans.

I see that already there are only restricted or severely restricted seats left even before being offered to Season Tickets holders without away match priority, let alone going on General Sale. This is after and I quote from the website 'as Season Ticket Holders with away match priority have been quick to snap up most of the un-obscured views behind the goal at the Anfield Road end'

Can't they put them on sale more weeks before the match to gauge demand or close up the time period between the first and last sales so that they don't have to make the decision to return tickets (if true) so soon. I hope that they have learnt from the first few away matches that have sold out before general sale and realise the away support this year is larger then previously seen.

There are now only 'Severely' restricted view tickets on sale. I'm not spending best part of £150 on an away day just for that view. Really annoyed the club previously sent back so many.

I think this stems back to the opening day of last season, when we took the full allocation and didn't come close to selling out.

The club have to pay for unused tickets that they take an option on.

The fact it was on a Sunday, was over 50 quid a ticket and live on Sky, were the mitigating factors, but it feels like the club have been burnt and are not taking any chances

historically we have always taken more to Liverpool away than Everton.

I reckon that was definitely it, the club would have lost loads on that Man City game.

True, but Liverpool being more expensive sort of balances that out a bit. So far our support hasn't shown the club that we can definitely sell out 3k tickets for games up north. Will be interesting to see what we do for Man Utd.

They would have but a match that was live on sky on a Sunday was never going to sell out. It appears that the person responsible for deciding the amount of away tickets to have doesn't know their business & is therefore over cautious. Liverpool away is always a popular trip. Some communication with supporters would help.

At FIFTY-THREE quid a ticket, mind... the only reason I went to Man City was to ensure I got tickets to every other away I wanted last season. Now I've done that I'm not going to anything like as many - decided to spend £65 for two of us to go to Exeter v Newport (including return travel and match tickets) that day instead. It's the future.

As for "some communication with supporters would help", some people on here would have you believe that's a sign of weakness rather than strength.
