Olallana Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 But you said statistically it isn't. So despite supposedly playing well and having more shots at goal we aren't winning as many. Your own stats have proven you wrong. Sorry if you don't like it, but that's the FACTS. Oh how conveniently you avoided the other parts of the post......was that how you put it earlier in this thread?? How many times do I have to repeat myself for you to understand? I really need to know, my full membership expires tomorrow so I dont have much time left to help you with that......3 posts per day wont do any miracles for that I´m afraid... Stats were not about us specifically. But it probably will be if you give it the right time, stats are only reliable over an extended amount of time. Basic knowledge I presumed actually but clearly a mistake from me there since you dont seem to know that.....I apologise for that. So again....do you think teams are more likely to win games if they perform bad and dont create as many chances as their opponents are doing? Not a hard question to answer, is it?? Well it doesn't seem we do as your stats PROVE and that's the only club I care about.
Chewy Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 Back to the op. I think it's too early to question much about him, the only query I have ATM is why we haven't added pace. If mayuka is the option, he should be on the bench, and if he isn't up to it, we need someone who is. A lack of pace out wide as an option has been our most glaring issue offensively for the last two seasons. In time, questions over the midfield partnership and how we accommodate osvaldo might need to be asked, but its too early. Wanyama was excellent in his first two games so some of the bashing on here is grossly unfair IMO. Our defence is immeasurably improved from this time last year, and the rest of the squad has talent and depth, the like of which we haven't seen for decades at saints, but we need that one further option I think. In terms of season predictions, I said that 7th is the best we can hope for, and I still think its possible. Man U lost 1 0 to Norwich last season and won the league FFs. We are clearly not going to do that, but the point is one defeat doesn't spell disaster for the season. Despite everything yesterday we had more possession, and if Webb had given us the penalty he should have we might have won and been joint top. People need some perspective. Dig Dig Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 MP's main challenge now is finding the right attacking blend of the 3 forwards and the striker. I don't think JWP should be in the 3, need to pick one of Lambert or Osvaldo and get Ramirez on form and in the number 10 role. Otherwise we are solid, defend well and able to control large spells of the game.
Minsk Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 Why are some questioning the manager? Maybe because some are not overly impressed with only 5 wins from 19 league matches; nor with a team that has not managed to score more than 1 goal in a league match for the past 9 matches.I was concerned when Pochettino was appointed. What has he ever actually achieved as a manager? His win ratio at Malaga was about 30% - so far with us (in the league) it is 26% - fail to beat West Ham next time out and it will be down to 20%.I have never been bothered by his, apparent, lack of English. There have been numerous reports that it is better than most people believe. However, he does coe across (to me) as somewhat arrogant and has yet to display any real affiliation to our football club (again, imo).

CB Fry Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 what, you expect a team to sweep away all before them? That's right. There is absolutely no middle ground between one win in nine and "sweeping all before them". None at all.

Minsk Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 what, you expect a team to sweep away all before them? Jamie, I preferred you as TDD. At least if you are going to respond to a post do so by referring to what was actually said. Don't just make things up that weren't written. I think you must have spent too long down deep. Your brain seems to have been squashed!! 1 win in 9 - acceptable or not?

SNSUN Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 Why has everyone reverted to questioning the manger ? I have every right - there was no way it was big enough to fit the baby Jesus. :-D Incidentally - Spurs haven't scored in open play this season either - AVB out. Sour Mash Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 Nigel Adkins was given 22 games in the Premier League - won 5, drew 7, not hugely different to MP's record?

And don't forget 10 of those were when we were adapting to the premier league.
