Roberto Di Matteo, anyone?

Think he's still out of work, any chance of him becoming manager soon? Just asking, a few people up the pub said we had shown an interest in him before signing MP. Can't remember that we had shown interest, but how long before NC fires another sacking bullet? Surely he can not be too happy with things at the mo.

One loss. One effing loss and people are calling for Pochettino's head. The manager that was key , instrumental, one of the main reasons for attracting Osvaldo. Di Matteo has done little to suggest he's better, except perhaps for showing ingenuity in taking a job of a team that was already most of the way to winning a Champions League. Ffs even I could've guided them to that. Perspective people, even Man City have lost this season, and before us too.

This is going to be a looooooooooong season.

I'm a Christian so don't like people blaspheming....But can't help but think here it's almost justified!!

WE'VE LOST ONE GAME AWAY TO A VERY DECENT SIDE!!

Get over it. We may well need something extra upfront but under MP we are defensively solid. Something we never were under Adkins, even in our FL days. Unbelievable that people are already lining up replacement managers...ONE GAME!!!

For goodness' sake....

Well that's complete nonsense. They were 3-1 down in a 2 legged tie when he took that job. They were far from already most of the way to winning a Champions League.

It’s ridiculous to talk about sacking him after one defeat, but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if a replacement had not been lined up before Adkins was replaced. I don’t believe MP would have got much support to become the next manager, I think more would have gone for Di Matteo. But then again I’m not sure who else was available at the time either.

Not sure you should really be discussing this at this stage of the season. However, if the results don't continue to improve by the end of the season we know our chairman will at least consider it. When I talk about results I refer to Poch's results only. We have made a reasonable start, new players bedding in etc. Poch has to decide on Ramirez and possibly cash in. I certainly can't understand Puncheon leaving unless it really was for genuine personal reasons. Lallana is playing better, Shaw is established now, Chambers has been introduced, Ward-Prowse has been a revelation....

I won't be as direct as some of the others who have posted a reply, Hedgehog

BUT there is really no trend at the start of the season, unless you think Man.U may lose a couple of games before Christmas, and sack Moyes:lol:

maybe Everton will regret Martinez' appointment, look where they are in the table .....and by the same measure......surely Swansea may consider sacking Laudrup ??

I've been watching football (and Saints in particular) for over 50 years , and despite some of the catastrophic starts we've had, we still ended up in comparative safety.

For my part I never take a serious look at the league tables until after match 6-7, and even then there's never any degree of certainty about anything.

Most people agree we have started well - even if we have suffered from some very poor refereeing decisions at key moments. I could see MP was upset at yesterdays result, and I'm sure he wasn't alone in that.

My best advice to you : try another pub - the conversation level may be more sensible.

My faith in this website has been restored, I just knew at the final whistle yesterday that some idiot will be asking if we should be lining up our next replacement manager. Its all part of the I want it and want it now society. FFS get a grip people when you play in the big boys league be prepared to lose a few games, we are not that good, we are going to do an Arsenal and go undefeated all season.

We've only played three games so far haven't we? Just checking as this is absolutely ridiculous at this stage. As much as I was annoyed and deflated not just by the result but by the way we played, we really shouldn't be discussing this after 3 bloody games.

On reflection we are more solid at the back than we were, something just needs to click up front. However this obviously needs to happen sooner rather later.

4 points from 3 games and through to the next round of the cup, not worried at all. Do you think we should be winning all our games then ? Please don't forget we are 3 points off 1st.

I would hope your not in a managers position mate, Jesus Christ.

I think it is a fair question Hedgehog has asked. He is not calling for MP to go, but with RDM lurking, and given the connection with NC touted on here, this is going to be raised from time to time.

I hope MP gets the results, but with NC's ruthless ambition this would not surprise me at all. I don't particularly want Di Matteo but the link is likely to remain.

Bit early for this nonsense. However, I don't think MP will see the season out. Wasn't convinced when he was announced as manager and certainly not impressed with his recent performances and purchases.

Ditto.

Too early for all this.......

But I can understand your frustration. ONEwin now in our last 9 league games is very poor + our inability to consistently threaten teams in the final 3rd is a BIG concern.

No one in the clapping division will answer this valid point as it may pierce through their Cortese/Pochettino/Ramirez deflector shields.

Surly you agree that to consider sacking a manager with 3 good performances after 4 games at the start of a new season (WBA, Sunderland & Wed night) would be an act of a mentalist ?

So we lose against a decent Norwich side at home, a game that if it was us as Norwich fans we'd be expecting to win this one, and people say that osvaldo clearly isn't good enough. We over paid for Wanyama and we should sack our manager.

And then people wonder why many think this place is fu.cking clueless when it comes to football.

Stick to your computer games and spreadsheets people you're clearly a bunch of retards

Oh for the days of Ted Bates Lawrie Mac and Chris Nicholl where it took at least 3 bad seasons for the managers position to be threatened. This allowed managers to form their own teams and coach their own style before being judged. It also promoted continuity of style and personal and the development of good teamwork all key to our recent rapid rise from league . I suggest we throw it all away and go back to a different manager style coaching and players every year as that really served us well in the late 90's and early 2000's didnt it!
