Would that be the last few years that have seen the club rise from 68th to currently 9th in England? Club must be doing something right on transfers.

Pick the bottom figure and go to the top? Our squad would have got us out the League 1, we were fortunate we had such a good start in our Championship promotion year as we were faltering and argybly another 2 games West Ham would gav caught us but thats speculation, name 5 good successful signings in the last 2 years?

A good window IMO. 3 solid signings improving each department of the team and the spine. Would have liked to have seen a winger but who knows come January.

Lovren - been hugely impressive and has immediately improved the defence. Much more aggressive and commanding than the other CB's but still think Yoshida should be pairing with him.

Wanyama - best player on the pitch in the first two games. Norwich he struggled alongside most of the team. Would like to see him play more box to box. Need to work out how he and Cork/Schneiderlin/JWP will fit the team.

Osvaldo - what a coup. He will become amazing for us. An italian international playing for us. Amazing!

How can you not be delighted with the window. Early business completed as everyone wanted.

name 5 good successful signings in the last 2 years?

Clyne, Boruc, Cork, Davis, Yoshida, Ramirez (Ramirez although frustrating and inconsistent is still a very good player) - all performed well in the Premier League last season in first season after promotion

Hooiveld, Do Prado, Fox, Billy Sharp and even De Ridder to some extent - all played a role getting Saints promoted. They served the purpose they were signed for.

Lovren, Wanyama and Osvaldo all look to be excellent signings.

.................

Tadanari Lee and Forren are clearly flops, possibly Mayuka as well but again that could change. Gazzaniga jury still out, has potential and is very young for a keeper.

.................

Thats a good success rate, every club has transfer mistakes. Saints have made very few in the last 4 years and the rise from 68th to currently 9th in England reflects that.

I'd add De Ridder into the flop category, one of the worst players I've ever seen.

Boruc, Cork, Yoshida, Clyne, Davis

Cork? More than 2 years ago.

Yoshida? Really?

Clyne, yes.

Davis, too an extent but he is not in the starting line up so not that good.

Boruc was a free but yes a good signing.

That lot came in at under £7 Million.

Ramirez

Forren

Gazzaniga

How much? £17 Million.

Overall, a strong window for Saints.

Getting rid of the "surplus to requirements" players has been important too.

Another positive "defensive" issue is that our top players don't have the vultures circling - Shaw, Lambert, Lallana, Schneiderlin etc all clearly staying. We're keeping what we have with ease.

I'm still wildly hoping we sign a new player (pacey winger ideally), but am glad we basically got in our new players early this year (as folk on here have been advocating so strongly).

Bull****.

Well, I wouldn't have said that exactly , what with being so well bred n'all... But no, I don't believe Saints wouuldn't release Sharp to another Premiership team. I can't see any such team being a threat anyway and certainly they'd like to get the wage bill down. It just doesn't figure.

He didn't serve his purpose at all.

His 3 goals and 3 assists were useful. That equaliser away at Reading for example earning a point. Yes, he wasn't any use in the Premier League last season and was out of his depth. But I maintain he served a purpose as an impact sub in the Championship. As a signing for a Premier League team he isn't great, but Saints signed him to help get to the Premier League and he did play a part in that, so he served the purpose he was signed for.

Quite funny when you think about WBA and their business.

They've been trying all summer to replace ''Lukaku''. So they spend £6m on an average-to-poor player, Victor Anhciebe from Everton. Everton, then replace him with Lukaku.

Brilliant.

I think WBA have lost the plot. Relegation beckons I hope. Can't stand the club (personal reasons)

So why are we stalling on a deal for the poor sod ?

Is he back on the fringe of our plans, with Mayuka gone ??

It's an odd one. He's not in our plans as he's not listed in our PL squad on the FA website, so that won't change.

He's on a lot of money with us, mainly down to promotion clasues and the like. Clubs don't want to pay that in full. We don't want to pay any wages for a player who isn't at our club.

The odd thing is though, we'd still be paying that wage with him not going anywhere and not contributing anyone. Strikes of a little bit of Cortese playing a bugger, it's not the first time and it won't be the last.

Yoshida yes deffo was very good last season and played a decent part in us staying up. That wont suit your agenda though so dont expect you to agree.

I will add Rodriguez his form at the end of last season also kept us up....those performances together with the rest earned us what 90m?

I will agree on Forren, Gazza was bought long term and a 1m gamble - Ramirez jury still out but very disappointing.
