Picard Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 A striker with a proven goal record who is available? Clubs are queuing up to sign Southampton's Billy Sharp on loan but BBC Sport's Nabil Hassan reports that the Saints are stalling on a deal. From the BBC
SNSUN Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Hi fannies! So is there reason to stay glued to SSN for the next 4 hours or are we done? Have we really been linked to Lennon? Has Skacel signed yet? As for the squad, I still worry about creating goals, but I guess the management have faith in both the young players like JWP, Isgrove and Rowe and in Ramirez actually coming good, and in JRod becoming more consistant. I guess nothing will happen tonight anyway, so in the mean time let's hope the Ozil transfer crashes to annoy cocky Arsenal fans. :-D
shirleysfc Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 But he played so well for 45 minutes against Spurs? Your obsession with MLG is a bit weird.
SaintSteve Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Absolutely superb window. Kept our best players and added in 3 top players. Squad is stronger. Now it's Pochettino's time to shine to get the best out of this hugely talented squad. GK: Boruc, Davis, Gazza RB: Clyne, Chambers LB: Shaw, Fox CB: Lovren, Yoshi, Fonte, Jos DM: Wanyama, Morgan, Cork, (JWP, Davis) AM: J-Rod, Lallana, JWP, Davis, Gaston, Isgrove, Guly, ST: Lambert, Osvaldo, (J-Rod) That's enough good options and a highly talented and young squad. Good balance of British/Foreign/Young/Experience, just need to find the right "team" rather than just trying to shoehorn the best players into the starting 11. COYS. Agreed.. MP just needs to establish a way of creating numerous clear cut chances from the possession we enjoy; as so far in the 3 games to date this is not happening.

Club have blocked and rejected prem bid despite offer being asking price
shirleysfc Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Club not in Europe have agreed deal with Chelsea for Demba Ba, West Ham?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Shane Long to Hull? Didnt see that coming
saint lard Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Club not in Europe have agreed deal with Chelsea for Demba Ba, West Ham? Newcastle quite possibly.....however he wants champions Lge football.
Didcot Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 No it was a club IN the Champions League as Ba won't go to a club not in it.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Wants a prem move..... Club have blocked and rejected prem bid despite offer being asking price Bull****.

Agree, hard to see this as anything other than great window - and done early. Only comments on that squad list: Reckon Clyne looked a better LB cover than Fox second half v Sunderland, although we were comfortably camped in their half. ST cover - you can include Lallana, Guly or Gaston depending on how you shape your attack. Only position I think is possibly bit behind others is 2nd CB - will Yoshida or Fonte perform to a higher level? Aside from GK and ST, my first choice team is young - likely to be inconsistent but exciting times. Defence 18, 24, 25, 22 DM 23, 22 AM 22, 24, 18 further young players to move up during the season? Best window for years. Lightening quick sub for end of games would have been ideal but squad pretty big.
Appy Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Your obsession with MLG is a bit weird. His obsession with being right all the time is also a bit weird. As is your response to me.
itchen_dan Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Lukaku potentially to Everton on loan. Gutted about this one.
Wade Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I think we have dropped a bit of a bollock by letting Puncheon go. Other than that, a decent window.

I am watching now for news on non-Saints related transfers. Wish we were in for Demba Ba or Lukaku. Hoping MP is calling his mate Jose from home!
percy windham Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I will be livid if we don't get anyone else in, I am sitting here fuming at these reports that business is done. Sort it out saints you are a disgrace.
S-Clarke Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I will be livid if we don't get anyone else in, I am sitting here fuming at these reports that business is done. Sort it out saints you are a disgrace. lol
Sour Mash Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Anyone else think the Media team are bluffing? Yep, over-doing it with the 'off home now' tweets, Peach etc might even be in on it.
Appy Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Yep, over-doing it with the 'off home now' tweets, Peach etc might even be in on it. That's what got me thinking they might have been bluffing the way they were overdoing it. Seems like they weren't.
S-Clarke Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 WBA have offered £6m for Victor Anichebe Everton will respond, but are still laughing at the money they will be getting.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Shane Long going to Hull for £5m. Ba will end up at Arsenal I reckon. Herrera won't go to Man Utd. West Ham won't get anyone - (lol).

slickmick Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Lukaku potentially to Everton on loan. Gutted about this one. Me too. The missing piece of the jigsaw for us.
S-Clarke Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Me too. The missing piece of the jigsaw for us. Not sure how to be honest? Would think he's the last player we'd want or need. We have more than enough in the central area, what we needed was pace and creativity in behind.
Cascadia Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I will be livid if we don't get anyone else in, I am sitting here fuming at these reports that business is done. Sort it out saints you are a disgrace. Haha!
Saint Garrett Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 It's ok, they spent £15.7m on Andy Carroll. Such a retarded transfer plan. My mates who are WHU are fuming they have put all their eggs in one basket, and then signed Downing for £60k/week. Funny.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 No transfers for farawaysaint on his birthday
slickmick Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Not sure how to be honest? Would think he's the last player we'd want or need. We have more than enough in the central area, what we needed was pace and creativity in behind. Fair comment. I think what I meant was, he was my first choice over Osvaldo. Can Lukaku play wide ?
hypochondriac Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Spent a lot of money but only addressed one of the two big weaknesses from last year.
teenagegsaint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Fair comment. I think what I meant was, he was my first choice over Osvaldo. Can Lukaku play wide ? no he can't
Gingeletiss Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 We surely, have some of the most ungrateful fans in the country now. Want want want! Really sad to see our fan base represented as such on here.
dan abnormal Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Delighted with our business, especially to get it all done comfortably before the end of the window. The spine of the team has been greatly improved ( in terms of first XI and squad) and we've kept our most prized assets (so far!). Little surprised at Puncheons exit as he offers us something different and we haven't replaced that unless Isgrove is expected to take his place, have only heard good things about him.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Lukaku potentially to Everton on loan. Gutted about this one. Extremely gutted if this happens.
Cascadia Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 That's what got me thinking they might have been bluffing the way they were overdoing it. Seems like they weren't. I don't know, anything's possible...
SNSUN Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 We surely, have some of the most ungrateful fans in the country now. Want want want! Really sad to see our fan base represented as such on here. Evolution not revolution for Saints (the opposite to the Sunderland tactic) and strengthening positions well whilst using youngsters, talented youngsters, to plug the gaps. Still it's in every football fans nature to want more transfers, irrespective as to whom or why. Computer games like Football Manager have made fans like this, and the over-the-top coverage of deadline day on SSN these past few years.
Badger Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Libor Kozak joins Villa from Lazio. Czech striker, impressive record in the europa league. Was on trial at Portsmouth in 2008. The new Zoltan Liptak or whatever his name was.
shirleysfc Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 His obsession with being right all the time is also a bit weird. As is your response to me. My response is weird? Fair enough, you carry on stalking MLG, there's nothing odd about that.
MarkSFC Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Very happy indeed with the 3 players we have signed but cant help thinking that we are light in defence, particularly at Left Back. Another wCB of Lovrens quality would convince me that we are serious about top 8 this year...as it is 10th-12th is my guess. Its strange that Punch and Mayuka have gone out but no one (as yet) has come in. Theres still January of course....!!!!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 My response is weird? Fair enough, you carry on stalking Boys, there's nothing odd about that. MLG is 44! Weird that you call him a "boy"
Matthew Le God Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 (edited) Its strange that Punch and Mayuka have gone out but no one (as yet) has come in. Osvaldo has come in and in both articles about Mayuka and Puncheon leaving this was listed as a factor in them leaving. Plus we have Ward-Prowse starting in one of the positions Mayuka/Puncheon would be used and the emergence of Isgrove, Sinclair and Rowe. Edited 2 September, 2013 by Matthew Le God
maysie Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Osvaldo has come in and in both articles about Mayuka and Puncheon leaving this was listed as a factor in them leaving. So there!

Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 My bad. I edited the post as soon as it went live, you must be keen on the old F5. I am fast!
Matthew Le God Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I'm not 44 ffs, it is one of Glasgow_Saint's "jokes".
Appy Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 My response is weird? Fair enough, you carry on stalking MLG, there's nothing odd about that. Looking through a thread and commenting on what he says is stalking? Please stop stalking me.
Barry Sanchez Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 Osvaldo has come in and in both articles about Mayuka and Puncheon leaving this was listed as a factor in them leaving. Plus we have Ward-Prowse starting in one of the positions Mayuka/Puncheon would be used and the emergence of Isgrove, Sinclair and Rowe. Good gamble for European football, we get rid of the 87th best player in the World(inspired signing that) and a good outlet winger, just throw the dice, how much have we spent again in the last few years on absolute shiit?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 I'm not 44 ffs, it is one of Glasgow_Saint's "jokes". You said you were 42 on this thread i started 2 years ago? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31024-What-age-are-you#.UiTmLMu9KK0
Matthew Le God Posted 2 September, 2013 Posted 2 September, 2013 how much have we spent again in the last few years on absolute shiit? Would that be the last few years that have seen the club rise from 68th to currently 9th in England? Club must be doing something right on transfers.
