Saint-Armstrong Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Two-year deal. Undisclosed fee. Lots of good memories. Thanks Deano.

doubleonothing Posted 30 August, 2013 Author Posted 30 August, 2013 And our favourite journo had done his research @alex_crook: One of the forgotten five Lee, Hammond, Barnard, Hammond and Sharp has left #saintsfc today
RobM Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good move for him, he did very well for us and will do the same for Leicester City I'm sure.
Restark19 Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Thanks Dean, just the captain we needed in the lower leagues. Unfortunately surplus to requirements now, best of luck.
SNSUN Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good Luck Deano, thanks for captaining the team on the rise, and for that screamer against Leeds!
Bewildered Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Played a big part in our rise up to the Premier League, very good player at Championship level.
St Chalet Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good move for him. Good pro who was a solid performer in our rise up the leagues. All the best Dean.
Ulrich van Gobbel Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Best of luck Deano and thanks for everything that you did for our club. A top pro and a great captain for us on our journey back to the Premier League!
doubleonothing Posted 30 August, 2013 Author Posted 30 August, 2013 Best of luck to him. Sure he'll do we'll for them.
Appy Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 And our favourite journo had done his research @alex_crook: One of the forgotten five Lee, Hammond, Barnard, Hammond and Sharp has left #saintsfc today He is becoming a parody of himself.

DuncanRG Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good luck Dean, thanks for everything. A real professional and an important player in our rise from League One.
Appy Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Peterborough away on 2011 is my favorite Hammond moment, mental celebrations in the terrace.
petermcpete Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Cheers Deano, good honest no frills pro. Hope all goes well at Leicester!
Ziggy Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Cheers Dean and all the best. Thanks for your contribution to getting us back in the Premier. Good luck!
Saints foreva Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Always gave 100% and was a decent player for us. Good luck Deano!
Colinjb Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good luck Hamster. Grateful for his time here, a good and professional servant and key part of our progress.
Ashley Grute Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 One of my favourite players for a few seasons- good luck to you Deano!
View From The Top Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Well done and thanks, we appreciate everything you did for us.
Colinjb Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 It always seemed bittersweet that players who it meant so much to never got the chance to play at Premier League level after promotion. Hamster and Sharp being the main examples. It's a ruthless business.
trousers Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Cheers Deano. Forever etched in Southampton's history...
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 All the best Deano. Great skipper for us at an important time in our development. Wish him well.
Lighthouse Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good luck Dean. Will never forget him getting the party started against Leeds 2 years ago.
RobM Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Great move for him Good chance for promotion If they do get promoted, it'll be fascinating to see if Hammond stays with them and gets to play in the Prem.
david in sweden Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 so glad for him. After the end of his loan deal to Brighton ....was beginning to think he was going to be left in limbo. well done Dean - good luck
Lazlo78 Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Hammond, Harding, Lambert, Davis etc were instrumental in reinstating a winning mentality at SFC at a time where we seemed to always buckle under pressure, always throw away a lead, always panic... This change is still the most important in recent times. We may make mistakes but the team always plays with confidence... Good luck Deano!
mcbendy Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Nice vid above - thanks for posting. Interesting to look at the starting XI on that day: Davis Richardson Harding Fonte Martin Cork Guly Hammond Lallana Lambert Connolly How times change...
Chez Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Having Hammond, Cork and Morgan covering the two CM slots was critical to our promotion. I didn't think Hammomd had the pace to cope with the Championship, but his lack of it didn't show up at all, which meant we weren't weakened at all when he came in as cover or on as sub. I think Adkins was right to bring Davis in to replace him as I think the Prem is a step too far, but happy to see him get a decent move. Players from that double promotion side will possibly become legends in time. And he will be one of them.
SNSUN Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 If I were a Championship club with any kind of cash, I'd have been straight out this summer to sign Hammond, Sharp and possibly even Barnard. All will do a cracking job at the SBC level. Add to that Chaplow and Reeves and you could have a good team using our cast offs this summer. I'm surprised they've taken so long to shift, even taking their wages into account. Sharp next, not sure where he'll end up though.

He profitted from being in a good squad and at Bournemouth and Oldham he has looked very ordinary. When his contract expires (eventually) I could see him back at Southend, Freddy Eastwood style.

When his contract expires (eventually) I could see him back at Southend, Freddy Eastwood style. He's not a player to set the world alight but he is a good poacher at lower level. Scored goals for us and Southend and while he didn't bang tons in for his last two teams he still got a few. I reckon Southend will probably be his destination too, but he did a lot to get us out of League One. Certainly more than Forte, who'll be remembered for one thing...

Barnard scored the winner in that game, yet because it was such a surprise... Forte gets the attention!
SuperSAINT Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Cheers Deano. Nothing but good memories of him. Sure he'll do well under Pearson up there.
Pugwash Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good luck Deano. Thanks for the effort, leadership and grit you brought to the club.
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Very big player for us in our rise, his contribution should never be forgotten. All those years in the championship we were crying out for leadership in the middle, he finally gave us what we were crying out for. Don't have a bad word to say about the lad and this is a great move for him.
Didcot Saint Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Peterborough away on 2011 is my favorite Hammond moment, mental celebrations in the terrace. This. Went mental, great times!
mitch01 Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Huge fan of Hammond. Great pro, exactly what we needed in 2009.
Suhari Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Thank you Deano. Captain of Colchester stuffing Norwich, to captain of Saints legendary rise. Cheers, good luck: a true pro.
SuperMikey Posted 30 August, 2013 Posted 30 August, 2013 Good player for us, shame his time with us was kind of ended when we got promoted to the Premier League. Not cut out for this level, but will do a good job for Leicester. All the best Deano!
