Saint_clark Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 If Lambert had instead scored the 2 and then not got MOTM, would you be equally annoyed? FWIW I think Townsend will give it to RL anyway. I knew that question was coming and the answer is honestly no, if another player had put in the performance Lambert had whilst Lambert had done little all game except scored two, I'd accept that they deserved it. Put it this way, Lambert scored his own goal and created both of Welbecks.
Turkish Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Let's just hope he does better against James Collins this time around. I remember Gary Docherty not giving Lambert a look in in L1, it happens sometimes.
dubai_phil Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I mean REALLY? After The Golden Era... Rickie Lambert is the answer to England's woes? Jeez
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 A good game away in Kiev and I reckon if he stays injury free, he's gonna be on the plane to brazil
Turkish Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 A good game away in Kiev and I reckon if he stays injury free, he's gonna be on the plane to brazil Can't disagree with that, if England qualify of course.
mcjwills Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Woy should now consider Redmond to partner Rickie he looked good for under 21 last night.
Saint Charlie Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Unless Welbeck gets a third Lambert could well be MOTM.
ivangolac Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Am I the only one who's chuffed that England are resting Rickie for Tuesday ?
dubai_phil Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 His lack of stamina at this level and failures to last 90 minutes are the reason why he won't get picked again. Yeah, nothing to do with the fact that we are cruising at 4-0 up and Rickie is THE only guaranteed fit striker in the squad to start on Tuesday
offix Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I hope Pinnochio was watching: make sure Ricky gets half decent service and he will score for you and provide great assists.
SNSUN Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Already done more in his England career that MLT, arguably Southampton's greatest ever footballer. On a side note (which I'll whisper), I think Lambert will probably, eventually, have a poor game in an England shirt. If this happens, I just hope he isn't overlooked for the rest of his career, instead of, say Rooney having a poor game and getting picked again the next time.
warsash saint Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Subbed. Clear proof that everyone in the England set up hates Rickie Lambert doing well. Is this comment for real?
syd_barrett_saint Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 First player to score in their first two England games for 37 years.... Who was the last player to do so? Can't work this one out or find it online.
richard Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Subbed for Milner?!? I don't think he has a striker available.
Roger Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 His lack of stamina at this level and failures to last 90 minutes are the reason why he won't get picked again. You really are a muppet!
trousers Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Unless Welbeck gets a third Lambert could well be MOTM. I'm sitting here urging Welbeck not to score for that very reason
positivepete Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Who was the last player to do so? Can't work this one out or find it online. Peter Taylor
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I knew that question was coming and the answer is honestly no, if another player had put in the performance Lambert had whilst Lambert had done little all game except scored two, I'd accept that they deserved it. Put it this way, Lambert scored his own goal and created both of Welbecks. A fair answer. Like I said earlier I think RL will get the nod (unless Welbz gets another one late on) but I think I'd also say fair play if Welbeck does get it too. Welbeck didn't get an assist but he was instrumental in the first goal. Credit where its due.
trousers Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Who was the last player to do so? Can't work this one out or find it online. Peter Taylor I believe Edit: beaten to it by Positive Pete
iansums Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Don't understand the Welbeck bashing from some on here, he's been excellent tonight. He's scored 8 in 18 for England but clearly he must be ****e.
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Is this comment for real? You actually had to ask
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Oops, Gerrard MOTM. Let the hate begin.........
Saint_clark Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Lambert should be MOTM on this performance, something tells me they will most likely give it to Gerrard at the end. F*ck me...
Bad Wolf Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Gerrard MOTM!? Lambert's provided 1 goal and 2 assists...He could have had a few assists too if other players didn't screw up. Ridiculous!!
Bewildered Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Gerrard is Townsend's Man of the Match! One goal and a dozen misplaced diagonal balls earns the accolade for the Liverpool legend
trousers Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I preferred the days where they gave MotM to the best player of the night...
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Blokes like Scott Sinclair, should look at Rickie and catch themselves on. Play regularly, even if its an "unfashionable" club and the doors open. Instead of ****ing around in man c reserves be could have been building an international career
VectisSaint Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Chris Baird was another example of this. Must have missed his appearances for England
Saint_clark Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Does Townsend get a tip off on who the MOTM is going to be, or does he actually pick it? He never picks it different to the official one.
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I preferred the days where they gave MotM to the best player of the night... Who is "they"?
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I think Joe hart should get it, For keeping a clean sheet.
ashleyb5443 Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 wow, well I don't think Milner will get a look on Tuesday after that.
dubai_phil Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 IF we fail to qualify on GD then James Milner should be shot
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 No idea. Any clues? No, that's why I asked.
Whitey Grandad Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 What does everybody see in James Milner?
sandwichsaint Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Blokes like Scott Sinclair, should look at Rickie and catch themselves on. Play regularly, even if its an "unfashionable" club and the doors open. Instead of ****ing around in man c reserves be could have been building an international career You've got to get in first, SRL has arguably only got in via injuries to Carroll/Defoe/Sturridge/Rooney etc, there's no guarantee that if you do it week in week out for one of the lesser lights you will ever get near.
trousers Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 No, that's why I asked. That makes 2 of us. I was just posting random gibberish (for a change)
Convict Colony Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 I thought Wilshire did more than Gerrard and that was including his goal, I thought he was smart and ran at their back 4, Lampard wants to be a striker and takes up space so bin him and get some one else (not cleverly or the usual suspects in) .
The Kraken Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 What does everybody see in James Milner?A completely sh*t footballer?
Minty Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 Superb work by Rickie - Welbeck and he linked up well and as much as I thought Welbeck's play everywhere else on the pitch was pretty poor, you can't deny that he finished his chances well. But anyway, back to SRL... superb all round game, which showed exactly what we all knew about him - that his all round game is what makes him such a complete player, not just his goals. I said it years back, and I'll dig out where, just as was highlighted in the commentary tonight - he is like a modern Teddy Sheringham, and has plenty to offer England. He will only get better as he gets more settled into the line-up.
Convict Colony Posted 6 September, 2013 Posted 6 September, 2013 A completely sh*t footballer? hahahahahahahahaha made me spill my beer.
