England squad announced today

Would hope so. Equally his dissapointing game against Sunderland may be all the excuse Hodgson needs to drop him.

The strikers will probably be Rooney, Sturridge, Defoe and an out of position Theo Walcott.

This. If Woy picks Defoe over Rickie, I will hate him and the FA even more than I do now. I just hope he listens to Gary Neville.

Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck and Lambert for the striker positions.

Rooney was awesome last night whilst Wellback showed why he shouldn't be anywhere near the England squad, no composure in front of goal at all...

I am hoping that the good stories and comments about Rickie from the last international meant that he fitted in with the squad and that would be a plus for him

Think he will make the squad and, alongside Sturridge, hopefully will get some decent game time against Moldova. Both deserve it.

Wellbeck and Rooney will most probably start against Ukraine as the forward pairing, but expect Rickie to be brought on as an impact sub if we are struggling - which is highly likely.

My gran could have scored that - and she's been dead forty years.

Yes, but he scored, and he's an English striker who offers something different to the usual suspects, so he's probably in contention. I'm still surprised Crouch didn't get Lambert's spot in the last squad given some of the thinking.

If he had scored agains Sunderland then he'd be in no question. He didn't and I fully expect the lame excuses to follow :uhoh:

especially with that Campbell bloke (ex MU of course) winning against Citeh all by himself. Looked a much better player than Lambert in respect of agility and physical impact. Still can't see Lambert being dropped just like that. He'll be in this time but needs to start getting on the PL scoresheets from open play cos penalty kings are not much in demand.

Wellbeck's goal vs Scotland marked his 6th goal and a 100% shots to goal ratio... This dropped to 6 goals/ 7shots following his ambitious bicycle kick later that game... He is **** and should not be allowed anywhere near england. Ffs. By comparison Lambert has a respectable 1/3 shots to goal ratio.. Despite and missed the two clear cut chances.

Well beck is not an effective striker for man united... But he is for whatever reason for england. To say otherwise is to be frigging ignorant tbh

This

Ive always quite liked Cambell, he has bern previously capped and if he stats fit is certainly a good option. He is similar to Sturridge in respect to physical stats mind, though he plays differently.

Not entirely sure why Welbeck gets such a hard time, he is on form for England after all.

I cannot remember how many strikers Roy usually picks, but suspect its 4. If so its Rooney, Wellbeck, Sturridge and hopefully SRL, who will probably not play unless there are injuries or we are coasting late in the game. If its 3 then I think no place for SRL, if its 5 then he really should get in the squad. Four is the difficult one though as Roy does have the option of really piccing me off and picking Defoe instead....

Sanity prevails, though I reckon Rickie has Gary Neville to thank rather than Woy.

Next debacle scenario : Rickie comes off the bench and scores the winner against Yookrain only to watch Andy Carroll get on the plane to Rio...

Itll depend how Carrolls and of course Rickies seasons pan out Id imagine

If Rickie scored 15 and Carroll 7. Carroll will go.

Depends on whether all 15 of Lamberts are penalties TBH. But its irrelevant, Lambert wont get 15 this year.

If he does, and Carroll gets 7 then Lambert will be on the plane. FWIW I know its fashionable to dislike Carroll but he is better than people give him credit for.
