I know it shouldn't be done but it Northam do it and Kingsalnd North did it pretty much all of last season but everyone apart from the back were sitting down at the game on Saturday, which IMO takes away the environment of the game.

You must be in the minority as most aren't doing it. The section of the fan base that want this need to petition the club and get it addressed. Perhaps for a vote by those with season tickets on their views on a small area of standing only. At present it seems a small minority want it and are content to moan about those who don't do it.

I have been sitting in the Kingsland North for several years now and no-one round me for quite a distance has ever stood. I don't know where you are but I am more than happy for it to be confined it to there.

The club cannot do anything about it. Is the law and the club cannot be seen to condone it.

This.

I also 'sit' in the Kingsland North corner and have for years. The only time I remember the area standing was against the skates.

MOve over into the Northam mate. Never sat down for a game in there in all the years we've been at St Mary's.

Personally I would hate to sit down the whole match. Luckily in the Northam I am surrounded by like-minded people.

From my seat in block 39 it seems that the next two blocks over stand the whole game, so 37 and 38. If people didn't want to stand in those sections, why on earth would they buy a season ticket there?

No it isn't:

http://www.fsf.org.uk/campaigns/safe-standing/the-legalities-of-standing/

At most it is a civil contract between supporters and the club.

Now, contract law states that contract terms must be enforced fairly and equally - if they chuck you out for standing yet allow others to stand then you could *potentially* sue them for breach of contract.

Of course in practical terms the Don would make you an offer you couldn't refuse ;)

Based on Saturday there has been a hell of a lot of movement in the Northam over the the summer and plenty of spare non-season ticket seats around. Should be easy enough to get tickets in a persistent standing area if you want them. The stewards seem to have given up getting people to sit, its been ages since they've got back past the first ten rows or so.

Funny thing is you all sit down at half time, those that aren't arriving late and disappering to the toilet half way through the half. Back in the day when you stood, you arrived at 1:30 to get space, not 3:05, and you left after the final whistle.

I'm in 38 and everyone else in the block stands.

Me and my mates bought 3 tickets in block 39 for the west ham game. Last game I was at was stoke and was sitting in Northam 41. Got told after the game to try the kingsland/Northam corner. Hoping I won't be sitting all game??

I'm confused. If there's a seat on offer why not sit in it ?

Do these people stand to eat there dinner? Or maybe request to stand at the dentist?

I bet they moan if they have to stand on the train or bus

The irony is I bet most sit down for a ****.

If a piece of cake is on offer eat it, if a bit of ***** is in offer then eat it. If a seats on offer just sit in it

The back 20 or so rows tend to stand up from blocks 37-42 (obviously more stand in the Northam). Had a ST in 38 for 2 years now and stood there for several years before.

I'm in Block 39 two thirds up and everyone stands, same for Block 38 to the right.

Surely there needs to be a rule for all, what happens if you don't read these forums, or are aware of the fact that you may have to stand all game because others around you have been allowed to by the club/stewards.

If you buy a ticket and have some condition where you can not phsically stand all game, or the majority of the time, should you be expected to pay your money and see nothing? I am sorry but until standing areas are allowed then people should be expected to sit, if not they should be informed at point of sale that your view may be restricted due to standing. However the club would not be able to say such a thing.

When you walk into a shop, do you buy everything that shop has to offer...?

I understand your point, but if you've been to St Mary's before then you must be able to see the areas that stand during games. I suffered through games sitting down in the Kingsland Centre and Chapel for years before I decided to move myself to the Kingsland North/Northam to enjoy a bit of atmosphere.

Simply put - having everyone sit down will require a lot more work from stewards, will cost the club more money in extra policing and will be highly detrimental to the atmosphere inside the stadium! Having a "standing area" would be a great idea, but the FA are scared of any potential repercussions.

Our season tickets are about half way up block 40 in the Northam, the only seated rows are the first 12 approximately, these are the rows that the stewards make sure everyone is seated, and most may do anyway. I enjoy standing, its good for singing, shouting and creating the atmosphere. Without us standing, it would be like watching a training match. Standing isn't for everyone, and i intend to keep standing and singing until my knees give in which is the main reason why alot of older fans sit down, they are more comfortable seated.
