Batman Posted 25 August, 2013 Share Posted 25 August, 2013 no doubt when Bale becomes the most expensive footballer on planet earth. Will that get us any extra positive publicity? Im sure there will be many pictures printed around the world with him in his saints shirts and no doubt he will mention us etc throw into the mix the emergence of shaw, JWP chambers and our skipper is from the academy. Also, do we still have the bath academy?
S-Clarke Posted 25 August, 2013 Share Posted 25 August, 2013 Maybe, although we'll probably be limited to 1 line at the bottom of the article. I believe, although I may be wrong, but the new FA guidelines on academies is that you cannot have ''satellite'' centers out of your respective catchment area - so I believe the bath academy had to shut down, or will do. SNSUN Posted 25 August, 2013 Share Posted 25 August, 2013 In a way I'd rather it didn't get worldwide press. It's bad enough the top English clubs know how good our academy is (and repeatedly try to buy its products) without the whole world cottoning on. (If they haven't already...) LatvianTolix Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 It will make us a publicity of how to avoid doing bad business. to get some extra 1-2 million up front we lost almost 25 million EUR. that would probably be the biggest money waste of all times in sell-ons

saintmonkey1979 Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 I was under the impression we would could of gone out of business without the Bale/Theo money I thought the Bale/Walcot money was an attempt to fend off a potential (at the time) insolvency and the money from Surman/McGoldrick was what kept us going. Even so, the Bale settlement did keep the wolf from the door for a while, although I think when Forecasts wages are taken into account, the deal probably cost us more in the long run
The Kraken Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 I'm sure Harry Redknapp will be whoring himself about for the triffic job he did in developing young Gareth's career when he was unknown left back who signed from a backwater club for Tottenham. Badger Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 I'm sure we'll get some publicity out of it, although there will be a bit of ridicule and smirking along the way for a club and a chairman in particular who negotiated away a lucrative sell on clause. Bath Academy - yes we do, but Bristol City have in recent years challenged it as they believed it was an infringement in their area. I was pleased to hear that Bath was still going strong though, as a few years ago the Skates were quite triumphant in recruiting our scout/coach there, Rob Ruddock (?) I think, and how it signalled a change in the balance of power in the south. Wonder how their academy - no doubt sponsored by ASBO - is coming along ? ART Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 Appears he's flown back to England as another clubs put in a bid. The plot thickens. Wouldn't rule out José trying to get one on Real Madrid.

Wouldn't rule out José trying to get one on Real Madrid. I think this is Spurs just playing games to be honest, it's them who have released ''there's another club'' - Reckon it's just a plant to speed up Real giving them what they want. He'll only go to Real, no one else in the world will offer the £80m Real are offering. Real have today even erected the presentation stand and box at the stadium, so it's imminent. http://www.marca.com/2013/08/24/en/football/real_madrid/1377328572.html

Pastor Patrón Posted 26 August, 2013 Share Posted 26 August, 2013 Bale's looking pretty shredded. Needs to start hitting incline bench a bit more to get in Ronnies league though, maybe do some chin ups to get those lats poppin'. No homo.

Well Bristol have about 90% of their catchment area on land ....the reason Saints were given permission in the first place was that 50% of ours - was the English Channel. If Bristol want to fight that one, they may have to contend with the claims of Cardiff and Swansea - who are at least Premier League clubs.
