Di Canio: Southampton are one of the best sides up front in the Premier League

Nice to hear, perhaps we should all, myself included, be a bit less critical. If an opposing manager who has played the game is impressed, then are we being a bit too harsh on our own players?

Don't look at the messenger, look at the message!

Indeed. Always. When Rupert Lowe said ""The shields are up and the Klingons are shooting at us and every time they land a punch they are sapping our power", I looked not at the messenger but only at the message. And thank the lord I did.

Oh, hang on a minute....

Yes Krakers, if there was ever a message that should be stored deep in your memory bank, that is the one my wise friend!

Sorry Avenyoo; I was trying to agree with you but, hell, I just couldn't do it!

If a facist loon says you are a fantastic person does it stop them being a facist loon or you a sucker for flattery?

Not quite sure what you mean by this? My point was that if someone who has actually played the game and can give a compliment, when most of us on here probably have only played computer football, or pub standard at best, can always see the negatives, then who is right. And I am not a sucker for flattery.

So the red nosed Manc last year said we were the best team to have visited Old Trafford, you probably agreed 100%.

Fair play to Di Canio, I'd sooner have a compliment from him than Redknapp, who resembled a caricature with Alzheimer's on MOTD when asked to comment on Saints...

Really? I thought Redknapp's comments on Saints were well informed myself......and I also like listening to Di Canio talk about football even if he is a bit difficult to follow.

from the same article.... "new signing Daniel Osvaldo, having spent much of his time fixing his ponytail........"

Gotta chuckle - not least cos its a fair comment (ducks down ready for the flak)

The commentators on Fox were having a laugh at this... Unsure if he was doing to make his voice louder or if he was trying to 'hide' what was being said.

Had a good laugh at the contrast in managers in that game as well... Di Canio like a cat on a hot tin roof and MoPo the picture of calm... even when we scored he didn't show a shred of emotion. ( daresay it was proabably the least he expected )

all compliments are gratefully received, but we know that we are still a way off beating United and a number of others on a regular basis.....before we can qualify for Europe (that is).

BUT ..as manager of a team that ALMOST got 3 points in an away game, but didn't make it at the death .......he would say that wouldn't he ?...... if only to save his own reputation.

I've seen a fair few managers do this recently; it seems paranoia has no limits.
