Out of the attacking options I would have thought that Jrod would be most likely to be on the bench, seeing as he played in the Barnsley game.

IF Morgan is injured, it makes the selection slightly easier in that JWP will go CM.

Why would it be anything other then red?

More to the point, why does anyone care?

At least it won't snow this year.

----------------BORUC--------------

CHAMBERS----LOVREN----FONTE----SHAW

--------WANYAMA---MORGAN--------

----OSVALDO---JWP---LALLANA------

---------------LAMBERT-------------

Subs: K.Davis, Clyne, Maya, Isgrove, Cork, Ramirez, Rodriguez

It will be this I reckon, maybe Clyne on for shaw if injured. Wouldn't risk taking chambers out for this one, who is more defensively focused than Clyne against a strong Norwich attack.

Wanyama and Morgan hasn't worked so far. JWP and Wanyama only looked better because Sunderland sat back and let them have the ball. The team now moves the ball far too slowly and we have lost our fluidity. Most posters are judging the team by it's results rather than by the performances and we have played poorly against two poor sides. Eventually we will be found out. Yes you all love Wanyama because he is big and strong but he has slow feet, is not aware of what is around him ( hence Morgans decline) and he does not get through the work that Cork does. Don't bet on us beating Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool this year.

Okay i'll bite. Firstly did you actually go to both our games and physically see the performance and the work the players put in off the ball and more importantly off the highlights reel. I'm gonna take an informed guess at a fat no. We dominated both teams, some people would describe that as outplaying or playing well but not taking hard earned chances. Don't knee jerk that we were poor. Who are you to judge Sunderland and West Brom are poor sides, compared to us? we are two games into the season mate that's it. Finally if you'd watched Wanyama in pre season as well as at matches you'd see he was quality and very good with the ball at his feet, he is involved in the match from start to finish. Do i think he's better than Cork? no i think they're equally as good in different ways. The important question is does Mauricio? Clearly, as he thinks he is good enough to do both schneiderlins and corks job on his own. And finally who in their right ****ing minds would bet on us to beat man city, chelsea and liverpool again in one season. What i'm trying to say is, have a word with yourself mate.

Well said.

+1. Our problem has been finishing and picking the right ball in the final third. We've bossed the midfield in both games so far, and I bet we do again on Saturday.

When did Toni Jimenez bust his foot/ankle and has he borrowed The Don's boot?

In the warm up before the Sunderland game. He was sat on the cinder track round the outside of the pitch after doing it, up the Chapel End.

What would you be worried about?

Osvaldo's superglued Mayuka's hand to his head because he didn't pass to him in a training match. Surely that's going to have a negative effect on his impact off the bench?

I doubt we'd suddenly start using a system we haven't used under Pochettino before this season.

Maybe we will Maaaaan. Maybe things go along the same, the same, the same, and then suddenly..

Everything Changes, just like Cap'n Jack said.

Intrigued to see people putting Osvaldo wide left/right - he's a central striker so will either play up top or behind Lambert. Here's my XI for Saturday, for what little it's worth...

------------------- Boruc ------------------

Clyne ----- Fonte ----- Lovren ----- Shaw

---------- Wanyama - Schneiderlin ---------

Lallana --------- Osvaldo --------- Rodriguez

----------------- Lambert -----------------

Subs:

K.Davis, Chambers, Yoshida, Cork, Ward-Prowse, Ramirez, Mayuka

I don't see how JWP can be dropped after the last 2 performances. He's played brilliantly and his set-piece deliveries are important to us.

Posted

Will be:

Boruc

Chambers Fonte lovren shaw

Wanyama Morgan

Ward prowse osvaldo Lallana (cap)

Lambert

Subs: k Davis, Ramirez, clyne, Rodriques, s Davis, hooiveld.

I think it's only a matter of time though before clyne takes chambers place. I think he's better at mo although chambers has done brilliantly.

Add Cork to your bench and maybe swap Hooiveld for Yoshida and that'd probably be it for me as well.

Anyone else think that Rickie being picked for England is probably the biggest selection 'headache' that Pochettino has right now?

I could be wrong (for once) but I'm assuming that MP is keen to see how well and how quickly Ramirez and Osvaldo can 'gel' but starting them both would probably mean having to start Rickie on the bench, which he's probably loathed to do given how keen he seemingly is for Rickie to break into the England World Cup squad.

Yes, I know its a "nice problem to have" but I just wonder if it would be easier to pair Ramirez and Osvaldo if Rickie's profile hadn't gone through the roof over the last few weeks.

Just me pondering out loud.

FWIW, I would start Rickie on the bench for this one

Agreed.

I think Lambert will start this one but if he has another toothless performance then Poch really needs to man up and drop him.

Lots suggesting to drop J Rod but I wouldn't. He is the only attacker we have with any pace and who actually looks to run in behind. All the others are good players but play in front of defences.

Posted

Got a feeling Lambert might start on the bench in place of Osvaldo. Maybe a start for Ramirez? It's a definite selection dilemma for MP but at least it shows we have strong attacking options now

Posted

Don't see there being too many changes for this one. Would be hard to drop JWP right now and if Clyne comes in for Chambers then that could give him a bit more freedom as well. Also don't think Ramirez has done enough yet to warrant a start especially away from home. Playing JWP instead will give us that little bit more in terms of winning the midfield.

Think Rodriguez will be dropped purely on the basis that he's had a few chances the last couple of league games and not taken them (you could say the same for Lambert though).

Think the team will be

Boruc

Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw

Wanyama Schneiderlin

JWP Lambert Lallana

Osvaldo

Think it'll be fairly tight first half and expect us to cross the ball in early to make the most of both Osvaldo and Lambert. Second half bit more open and Ramirez and Rodriguez ain't bad options off the bench.

Posted

I am expecting:

Boruc

Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw

Spider, Wanyama

JWP, Osvaldo, Lallana

Lambert

J Rod on for Lallana or Spider and Ramirez on for SRL (with reshuffle of front 4 and/or system change)

Doesn't Osvaldo run in behind opposition defences?
