John Boy Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Naughty boys Morrison and Ranger stayed out of trouble long enough to net for their clubs.
TheSpankBoy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Indeed. For future reference, the bbc has cup highlights now.
Dark Munster Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 any team with Davis in it always has a realistic chance of being beaten, dropped shot, beaten at the near post or one of his other failings and then shut up shop. Bit harsh considering he scored 2 tonight.
dubai_phil Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Shirts into the crowd I'd throw it back #stilldon'tlikeit
mcbendy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Looks like Toure has just done his hamstring/groin - be out a while I recon. When do we play them?
Georgie Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Looks like Toure has just done his hamstring/groin - be out a while I recon. When do we play them? 21 september
Colinjb Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 I'd throw it back #stilldon'tlikeit The away shirt is pretty nice to be fair.
mulletsaint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Looks like Toure has just done his hamstring/groin - be out a while I recon. When do we play them? That's what I first thought but I'm wondering if it was actually his knee.
mcbendy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 90 minutes for Gaston and Maya too... Unless I missed something?
Cascadia Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 2 goals for Davis + 2 assists? Fair play Not the most dynamic of players, but a model pro.
mcbendy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 L'pool playing with 10 men as Toure crocked and they'd used all 3 subs...
TheSpankBoy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Baring in mind some of the other results tonight, a very good night indeed.
Bewildered Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 3-2 Liverpool. Bart showing why we released him
Colinjb Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 League Cup goals now beginning on SSN. Posh v Reading first up.
Wiggles31 Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Any capital one cup highlights anywhere tonight?
DG Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 SSN are showing goals from some of the games (have only done Reading so far).
TheSpankBoy Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Any capital one cup highlights anywhere tonight? Highlights are half 11 wednesday on BBC1.......if you want to wait that long.
dubai_phil Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Paul watts @Wattsypics 9m Well that was a boring game that kinda got going in the end! #saintsfc be a good gallery .. Especially the flying mayuka Retweeted by Southampton FC
S-Clarke Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Got to be pleased with that, a very nice confidence boosting run out. It's good to see the likes of Mayuka and Gaston score a goal, who sounded like he took the **** in the 2nd half. Very positive.
BlakeySFC Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Great win. I expected an easy victory (5/6-0 was my prediction before the match) and 5-1 will do nicely. Great performance and great gesture throwing shirts into the Saints fans.

Sheaf Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 (edited) Got to be pleased with that, a very nice confidence boosting run out. It's good to see the likes of Mayuka and Gaston score a goal, who sounded like he took the **** in the 2nd half. Very positive. Gaston wasn't that good tonight - he was very pedestrian in the first half and still gave the ball away too cheaply at times. Mayuka made some great runs and deserved his goal, he took it really well. Cracking finish from Jay-Rod as well. Should be a big confidence booster for him. I thought Isgrove had a very good game. Switched to the left for the second half and he got in behind their defence two or three times and caused problems. Rowe looked very lively when he came on but didn't really see enough of the ball. He had a great chance to score when the ball ricocheted to him after a strong run into the box from Mayuka, but he hit it a little too close to the keeper who saved well. Yorkshire Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Can someone tell me the words to the potechino song being sung tonight
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Shame about the home attendances though, yeah? 6k odd in total, the stadium was 1/4 full, 1 stand had about 50 home fans in, poor effect by them, our fans were louder than the home support, madness.
ottery st mary Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Well done Saints.. Well done the young guns.. Well done Gaston...truly magical..
mulletsaint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 goals coming on ssn Not ours though. Not sure if/when they'll be on.

I agree with you but must say Gaston lolled ok, should of scores the sitter he missed but he is class, his goal at the end was world class.

Gaston was much better 2nd half, his composure for his goals was world glass, Neymar style skill. Thought they all did week (inc fox)
Sheaf Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 I'm not sure what wavelength Maya was on tonight though... seems like he is still a little jet-lagged. Got caught napping two or three times in the first half and just stood off and let Dawson have a crack for their goal. He was well off the pace and on tonight's performances I would much rather have Fonte lining up alongside Lovren at Norwich on saturday.
SuperMikey Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Shirts into the crowd Apparently my mate got Fonte's shirt! Laarvly

Called him a mans man (i.e. a proper no fuss defender).
Roger Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Well done Saints.. Well done the young guns.. Well done Gaston...truly magical.. Were you there?
maysie Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 SSN are irritating me - I've seen the Place goals 3 times now... Apparently it's glaringly obvious to Holloway that they haven't got the wide men they had last season.
Webby Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 I can't believe anyone actually thought Osvaldo would be in the team tonight.
Turkish Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Comfortable win, miles better than Barnsley and a win was never really in doubt. Rodriguez was man of the match for me, lead the line very well and a great finish, think it was him who hit the post too. Great goal at the end from Ramirez, he played well In patches but again didnt really do enough against a poor team and should have buried his chance in the early minutes. I though Mayuka was poor in the first half but improved in the second. Rowe was lively when he came on and unlucky not score, Reid looked quality, good on the ball fitted in straight away and looks to have a bit about it. All in all a good night for saints, 5 goals and a good win and a good run out for the fringe players and a rare 90 minutes for Ramirez which was good to see.
Lighthouse Posted 27 August, 2013 Author Posted 27 August, 2013 SSN are irritating me - I've seen the Place goals 3 times now... Apparently it's glaringly obvious to Holloway that they haven't got the wide men they had last season. Just shown the Sunderland goals for the second time in 15 minutes. Now they are 'explaining' the Yeovil game again without any actual footage. Have they not got the rights to show half these games or are they just trying to wind me up?
Sheaf Saint Posted 27 August, 2013 Posted 27 August, 2013 Can someone tell me the words to the potechino song being sung tonight The one to the tune of the Inspiral Carpets you mean? I couldn't make out all the words, but you would think wish our fans would learn how to pronounce our manager's name properly.
