how bloody good is he

can see why morgan was subbed and him moved to the middle to give us an extra attacker up front

looked brilliant. hardly ever gives the ball away and pretty bloody good and delivering a cross, set piece

such an awesome talent

Absolutely agree 100%. Don't tell anyone though, they are all looking at Luke. Let's keep quiet about JWP eh? ;)

JWP this season and last really reminds me of Scholes since his 30's. Scholes early used to be more attacking and with a few long range goals, running into the box etc. But JWP is like Scholes of the last 7 years... controls the play, keeps the ball on the ground, does not force passes but not afraid to thread a ball through when its on. Great little player. If we can hold on to our talent the future is bright, the future is red (and white if NC allows it :) ).

I agree. His crossing today was phenomenal - I wonder if that's something they've been particularly teaching in the academy the last few years, Chambers was good at that too. It's actually shocking how many prem players can't consistently deliver a set piece / cross.

As someone said last week, there's something of Johnny Wilkinson when he lines up to deliver a free kick. Excellent ball in for the goal, and an even better delivery for one in the first half that just needed a touch from anyone, ANYONE!!

I'm so glad that we don't need to sell players now, cos players like Shaw and JWP would be off to any of the top 4 clubs, they're that good. JWP the perfect Scholes/Carrick replacement.

Anyway, we don't need to sell so.... :smug:

My personal take was the right side didn't work well at all in the first half. BUT......in the second half when JWP moved to the middle i thought he was really really good. I wouldnt have been surprised to him him off at half time. Maybe that was partly due to such a poor performance in the fist half.

Really pleased to read this post because I also thought that he was like a fish out of water wide on the right !

As soon as he he went into the middle he came alive and was absolutely brilliant !

Delighted also that we have found someone you can deliver quality balls from free kicks, corners etc, as this has been a recent weakness !!

+1

Wasted on the right. Awesome in the middle.

How do we fit VW, Morgan and JWP n the same team.

An embarrassment of riches

To be honest about it until today this player had struck me as being a decent enough young prospect, but not really doing enough to impressive himself upon the game and certainly not a player in Luke Shaw's class. However I'm happy to say he (very obviously) did bloody well out there today and I was most impressed with his ability, energy level, and his decision making.

Well played young man.

Not to get too hyperbolic but I think we might have the best collection of youngsters since THAT united team. Shaw, jwp, clyne and possibly chambers all look something special to me.

The trick is can we actually keep hold of them.

Said before, he reminds me a lot of Wilshere when he burst on the scene, energy, composure and assurity.

If he carries on the way he has he will be a top top player.

Im certainly excited about the way we blood our youngsters, Chambers, JWP, Shaw all look very confident and having seen Isgrove on occasion I know he has the quality to step up aswell.

Thought our right side was our weakest point in the first half. JWP delivery was good, but he can't go past a man.

Second half he was excellent.

Agree the right hand side was our weak link first half - JWP was helped second half by the fact that Sunderland had dropped deep to the edge of their own area giving him and Wanyama plenty of time and space to carry the ball forward.
