Liverpool have used it to reduce their fans away ticket prices. I wonder how Saints will use it?

I haven't been charged an admin fee for away tickets this season - maybe they are using it for that?

I think they should use it on free transport and tickets to Hull City Tigers on a Tuesday night.

I was charged a booking fee for of £4 for Norwich for 4 tickets. Thought it was £1.50 last season. Either they've reduced them or are using the money to reduce them.

Agree with Hull idea.

The club love to interact with the fans via social media. Lets get asking them how they plan to use the money. More people who ask, more chance of them answering perhaps.

Feel free to copy and paste.

@SouthamptonFC How will #saintsfc be using the @premierleague initiative of £200K for away fans? Sure fans would be very interested to know.

Agree with Hull idea.

Liverpool's idea is the best as it benefits all those that travel to away games throughout the year. Not just those that happen to do one match or those that can/want to use Travel Club.

They'll probably give a complimentary KitKat Chunky away with each ticket.

No doubt a few days after confirming Nestle as our "official chocolate bar supplier"...

I like the idea Liverpool have. Would save me £40-60 over the course of the season, so pretty much one and half games free.

Haven't been to the Amex yet but apparently Brighton are one of the best for away fans.

They ship in local beers form the away clubs area, change the l.e.d's around the bars to reflect the away teams colours, and have some sort of electronic ticker that lists the opposition clubs best players.

No closing time for bars either and home and away fans are free to mingle afterwards.

Not sure whether £200,000 would provide that, but some decent ideas.

EDIT: Ergh...realised that this is meant to be used for our own away fans not to improve services for those visiting. Free coaches?

Thinking about it, there was no booking fee charged on the West Brom ticket either. And 50p off the booking fee for Norwich. Hmmmmm. Is this where Saints are using this money I wonder?

Is this a grant? The article says BPL has asked clubs to allocate £200k for away fans - this sounds like asking clubs to ring-fence some of their existing budget for away fans.

Went when we played up there when Lambert got sent off by that numpty ref....

The best bit was the real ale and bought in Ringwood Best, food was terrible overcooked burgers, complete useless servers.

The ground was weird with one big stand but the sides not filled in.

Its just as well this wasnt about in 70's as everyone queues to get on the same train into Brighton home and away and can imagine it kicks off quite regularly.

I HAVE been to the Amex, and it was utterly crap. Concourse was too small and too rammed to get near the bar, so the local ales were irrelevant. The lighting was rubbish, and amounted to something like two spotlights making part of the concrete slightly pink, and the tv screens showed some photos of about 20 Saints players on an endless irritating loop.

As for "no closing time for bars", they are legally obliged to close them at certain times during matches, and if you wanted to have a pint after rather than getting into the queue for the trains, more fool you.

Good in theory, rubbish in execution.

As for the £200k, they can just give it to me if they like. :)

Do you not think the club should be maximising their sponsorship income to enable them to spend more under the Financial Fair Play rules then ?

That's nothing, this year those working in the bars and diners of the away section will wear shirts in the colours of the away team with 'welcome (team nickname) to st Mary's'.

As others have said, far better to spend the money promoting the #saintsfc hashtag.

That way, utterly f***witted people in Asia will suddenly get a twitter account and start cheering us on.

Especially as we play in red (which all people in Asia associate with lucky dragons, snakes and serpents, thereby guranteeing our top 4 status)

I actually don't mind that - I thought the "Welcome to Anfield > " things were a nice touch last season up there, proper solid, not an afterthought and actual "nice of you to be interested" kind of hospitality without being either patronising or just an obvious marketing ploy. As opposed to Brighton's trumpeted half-assery in particular.
