Season tickets

Still don't know why the club didn't continue selling right up until the day before the first home game. I know they have to produce the pack, but they could produce paper tickets for the first couple of games if people did buy one a day or 2 before the season started.

By stopping sales on 21st July or whatever it was, they missed out on a lot of people's July pay days, not to mention the momentum picked up by the West Brom win and Osvaldo signing. Missed out on another 1K STH I reckon. Another baffling decision by our ticket office.

They printed my season ticket cards the minute I bought them. The ink was almost still wet.

I never understand why we stop sales so early.

If they were still selling season tickets this week with Sunderland and West Ham tickets on sale it would get very tricky. Many non season ticket seats have been sold for those two games already, which then restricts where you can sell season tickets in the stadium significantly. It is easier for them to close season ticket sales before any match tickets go on sale.

Most other clubs manage it - shows how inept we are at this. Just look at the so called points system for another example.

The points system is brilliant. What they actually do in terms of away games attended works fine, but they feel like they still have to peddle on with the points even though we never have and never will use them.

I never understand why we stop sales so early. A couple of my mates who usually pick & choose games to go to based on work wanted to get season tickets but too late. Shame really

I don't get it either - on Saturday at West Ham v Cardiff they were advertising their STs with 5% off, which covered the value of the game people were already missing nicely.

Will be interesting to see if they drop last season's games after 4, 5 or 6 games of this season. Might make a difference to me, as I don't plan on going to any of our away matches until at least November, but definitely plan on one or two in December.

Saints have also managed selling STs throughout the season quite easily before in the Prem, and I hardly think there would be a massive rush on STs after the start of the season.

When I bought an ST once after single match tickets had gone on sale, all they did was give me a match ticket for elsewhere for the two games where my ST seat had already been sold, and kept the ST until it was valid from the 3rd match. It's really not difficult with a half-decent system - or even with a crap one, like the crap one before this crap one.

Why? They make more money from individual seat sales, it's more effort to sell season tickets in season - what purpose does it serve? Agreed if you're a club that has debts, where money in the hand is important; for us that isn't an issue so sell individual seats and, if we do well, the club makes more cash.

since cortese has been at the club the policy has been to not push / market the sale of season tickets in the belief a good season will still see the ground full of pay per game "customers" making each seat in the ground more profitable.

the lack of flexibility is allowing fans to buy one is odd and I can't imagine there are many more clubs like saints for that.

I think if I didn't have a season ticket I'd watch quite a few games in the many pubs showing them all for free , just as I know do for most away games as refuse to pay the prices (other than the likes of West Brom , Arsenal with decent £25 a ticket)

Plan your finances a bit better?

Pay using the DD feature?

Don't wait until the 1st game of the season has passed before deciding on getting a ST?

Don't wait until we have signed someone like Osvaldo before deciding on getting a season ticket?

I dont really see what all the fuss is about!!!..........if the club advertised well in advance when ST`s were going on sale and when sales would cease, which thet did, and you never had the funds or the inclination to buy one in this period that is hardly the clubs fault. its no good now whinging and moaning about it now. rubbish people on this site make me sick moaning about our club when it is obviously them in the wrong. I never had the funds at the time so had to go down the DD route, I never wanted to do this but if i wanted a ST that is what i had to do. The differnce is i never came on here moaning and groaning that our club is sh1t because of it.

Agree 100% by someone who could not afford his season ticket this year. I knew the conditions of sale so I am not whinging. Pay for games I want to go to and probably avoid the so called glamour games.

you're all missing the point, he is not blaming the club for you not being able to afford it, he is saying IF the club wanted more season ticket holders they would provide more financially friendly measures to facility the purchase, such as having a longer purchasing window to capture the less organised fan into a season ticket holder

But the point is that the "less organised fan" instead has to pay the premium of the match by match price (and probably if they're THAT disorganised the £2 on the day fee too, which incidentally wasn't mentioned even once in a single piece of ticket price documentation over the summer yet is still in place). They clearly prefer the gamble of us being successful and attracting people on a match by match basis, and will until we stop progressing.

When you think about it...Restricting Season ticket sales is a good way to increase the 'active' fan base.....Many peeps who go to a game for the first time get smitten and start going regularly thereafter....The more General Sale tickets available, the more chance there is of getting newbies through gates.

I don't know whether that's aimed at me, or just in general but I renewed my season ticket in June, thanks.
