Newcastle (v Man City)

Would not be surprised to see newcastle really struggle this season. My toon supporting friend has no faith in Pardew whatsover, says he has clear favourites who always get picked regardless of form and plays key players in the wrong positions. Don't think the influence of kinnear is helping things much either...

Granted City are good, but Newcastle are giving them so much time and space. There seem to be no pressing whatsoever. City (with their amazing players) are just being allowed to trot around with the ball and pick their passes!

Absolute disaster, not helped by losing their best player at the last minute. Pardew looked absolutely fuming in his pre-match interview and rightly so, disgraceful from Cabaye if he's really not able to play because of a bid from another club.

City are my favourites to win the title, their squad is just so much deeper than anyone else's.

They look absolutely shambolic to be honest.

Fair to say that City are very fluid tonight, but you've got to try and show some discipline and keep some sort of shape. There's nothing going on out there, even when they attack it's bereft of any ideas.

Pardew knows it's a crock of sh1t but the idiot Ashley gave him an 8 year contract.

All AP has to do is wait & pick up a pension mere mortals can only dream of.

That 8-year contract was for show. It's almost certainly got a fixed payoff written into it, regardless of when it's terminated or who by.

never seen a group of players so disinterested on their very first game of the season. sissoko was strolling on the pitch as aguero ran past him to score the second. think only krul came out of that with any credit. pardew needs to wake them up before they find themselves in a similar position as last year.

NUFC still have some good players, i dont think there in major trouble say relegation but there end up being near it say 15th, as people say City will spank a few teams, there finish top 2 this season again and will be closer then last season to wining it.

maybe, but but they looked absolutely s**t as a team last night. I know it's only one game but I suspect they could be struggling all season.

At least with our very poor start last season we played really well (most of the time) and at least looked like a half decent team

What's wrong with that? He's right.

For the most part during that spell we did play some good stuff. It was individual errors that cost us rather than overall poor team performance.

Most?

wigan

west ham

arsenal

everton

leeds

even WBA away

all utter gash in at the start of the season.

'most' was definitely NOT the case

The fans still don't like Ashley...who would, Pardew isn't a good manager, Kinnear will be interferring and spouting crap each week, it'll get to the players.

Your dislike of Pardew is hilarious.

Definitely a **** manager, despite being voted LMA Manager of the Year and Premier League Manager of the Year by his fellow managers having got relatively unfancied Newcastle to 5th place above the team who would go on to be crowned European Champions, and despite winning promotion with both Reading and West Ham (and getting the latter to the FA Cup final and Europe the following season), and winning the only trophy a significant proportion of Saints fans have ever seen the club lift. Yes, definitely a **** manager.

Newcastle have some good players, but so did we when we went down, especially attacking ones. We had a good keeper too, as do they. Without Krul last night that was at least 6-0. An expected loss yes, but there's something wrong with that club. The fans still don't like Ashley...who would, Pardew isn't a good manager, Kinnear will be interferring and spouting crap each week, it'll get to the players. Then you have a primarily french-speaking squad, little affinity with Newcastle. Lot's a good squad players but not enough obvious selections IMO. Too many 'can do a job' players. Poor defence, Taylor getting stupidly sent off, probably losing Cabaye when Arsenal panic and offer 20m.

I don't think they'll go down, but I think they'll be struggling down there with Stoke, Sunderland, West Brom and the 3 promoted sides.

they also have some awfully poor players, like that knob who got straight redded last night, he needs to go back to alehouse football. How Sissoko gets into the French squad in front of Morgan just stumps me no end, I can only believe that Morgan is black flagged with the FFF because he wouldn't leave Saints when they told him to. Ben Arfa looked good at times though, probably the only one that did.

When Newcastle got thumped by Liverpool at the end of last season they were in absolute free fall. Carrying over poor end of season form to the next one often happens and usually ends up in relegation or near as damn it. They have signed yet another injury prone player in Remy to add to the likes of Taylor and Ben Arfa. Lose Cabaye and if Tiote has a season as bad as the one he had last time then they will be down there if you ask me.
