Saint Garrett Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 As soon as it was given I wasn't nervous at all, I knew Rickie would put it away. Top drawer from the spot - I do wonder how so many players struggle with Pens.

S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 He is gonna miss sooner or later! With each penalty awarded, i am even more nervous! Same.... I couldn't actually look on Saturday (given the stage of the game!) But to be fair, every time he hits a shot it's with so much power and accuracy. So even if the GK dives the right way (as Foster did) it's passed him before he can react.
stevegrant Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 While I expected him to score on Saturday, the margins are becoming much finer the longer he persists in putting all of his penalties in the same direction. I'm surprised he's not varied which side he puts the ball a bit more, to keep the opposition goalkeeper guessing.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 He is gonna miss sooner or later! With each penalty awarded, i am even more nervous! who knows it might have been the last penalty he'll take for us for a while. Can't really see him surviving the arrival of Osvaldo myself but then again I've never been a mega fan of his overall performances....goals yes..rest not so much. Window Cleaner Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 Prepare to be ''Rogered'' for the Nième time. Can't see how were going to fit Rodriguez, who we need for his dynamism, Lambert and Osvaldo into our front line really and as I don't see us paying nigh on 15 million for a bench warmer I can't see where Lambert fits in. Perhaps we have interesting offers for him.
Pastor Patrón Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 Lamberts penalty taker as totti was at Roma I was referring to the trouble caused by Osvaldo snatching the ball off of Totti to take a penalty, then missing.

Perhaps we have interesting offers for him. I dont think he will leave, it certainly gives us options. He doesnt fit the way Poch wants us to play up top as well as I think Osvaldo can. Having read about Pablo he is one of the hardest working strikers out there, chasing down balls, working channels, running onto through balls. The way we press, harrass the oppositions counter attack and win the ball high up the pitch I think Osvaldo will be better suited to capitalizing on those tactics. Lambert can potentially drop back to the No.10 role maybe but time will tell if Ramirez can make it his own or not.

Im certainly hoping he settles at Saints far better than he did at Roma.
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 Why do people persist in being unable to handle the idea of 2 forwards being used? Both can play behind a striker, Osvaldo could play wide, doubtful they'll both be fit all the time. Not knowing where Lambert fits in? Well probably as one of our best players and biggest goal threat you'd imagine. Probably the same reason as why people seem unable to handle the idea that our tactics do not accomodate two strikers I suppose ?
Window Cleaner Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 Probably the same reason as why people seem unable to handle the idea that our tactics do not accomodate two strikers I suppose ? 2 strikers I can accomodate but for me thats JRod and now Osvaldo. I really don't see us dropping Lambert back into a playmaking position but we shall see.

Rodriguez just runs around and does a whole lot of nothing.

J Rod can play there as he is getting used to the inside forward role, Lambert I can see fitting into one of those forward three as it will detriment the harrying play we employ there. Osvaldo will play up top, thats what he is signed for and what we needed.
Minsk Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 MLT was not our 'original penalty king'. Some of us can remember a certain David Peach who, though a left back, was also a cert to score from a spot kick.
Dimond Geezer Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 It would have been interesting if England had been awarded a penalty when SRL was on the pitch, who would have taken it? Would Lampard have pulled rank, despite having missed a few (again yesterday), or would he have deferred to Rickie, who has only missed 2 in his entire career (I think). My guess Lampard's ego would have won.

Probably would have let Rickie take it considering it was a friendly, but the manager may have assigned Lampard as taker
