gingerone Posted 21 August, 2013 Share Posted 21 August, 2013 Well not sure about block 1/2 - 47/48 because it says block 1 when you click on 1/2 and 48 when you click on 47/48. I cant seem to get block 2 or 47 but anyway. Block 44-48 hold - 2500. I think sunderland will bring 1500 max. Official Capacity = 32,689 (from google sorry if wrong). my reckoning will be this - about 3,400 down on sales in total. Attendance 29,300 ish. I am out of here ;-)
saints_is_the_south Posted 21 August, 2013 Share Posted 21 August, 2013 Stadium capacity 32,689. 1,072 of those are for hospitality. 31,617 available to buy online including away end. Minus segregation netting of approx 200 seats makes 2,300 available for Sunderland fans, their website says there are a limited number remaining, so lets say they've sold 2,200. There are 2,121 available to buy in home areas. So I make that 28,896 sold + whatever has been sold in hospitality. If half of that area is taken up, we're up to 29,432 sold in total. 892 tickets sold in the 48 hours since I started counting on Monday, so if sales continue in that fashion (450 per day) it'll be over 30,000 by Saturday morning, then plus whatever walk up sales bring. Random guess at 30,531 as the final attendance.

Saints Warrior Posted 21 August, 2013 Share Posted 21 August, 2013 Its not about attendance, thats for the Skates who think they can fill a 60,000 stadium. Saints fans have always given outstanding support when at the Dell, 20,000+ in standing days and sold out for years at 15,500 during seating and SMS almost full since it was built. For real workers (46% of workers) on £18K and under a year (not the average £25-30K) at the time when taxes are rocketing, rents unrealistic and fuel costs escalating a £37 ticket for an adult is not a fair price. I was amazed to see SMS almost full last season with the cost of tickets, so anything near 26-28K a game is very very good. Skates cant even fill thier home games when they are odds on to win the leaque 2 title and tickets are £20. I still think Premier League has been over priced for at least 4 years, look at all the empty seats last season at Wigan etc
Third Division South Days Posted 21 August, 2013 Share Posted 21 August, 2013 Wigan is a rugby town. If they won the premiership 25000 gates would be good for them.

Block 44-48 is 2,500 seats, minus segregation of approx 200 that makes for 2,300. So if they've only taken 1,800 that means block 44 will be empty too. Means a bit less sold then, around 29,300. JRM Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Sunderland took the 1800 allocation that still on general sale with "a few remaining" on their OS. I reckon there'll be 1500 Sunderland there , and not surprised if we don't sell out , as much as I like the atmosphere if anything it's a good thing if there are empty seats otherwise the club will think it's fine to continually put prices up. more and more people are choosing to watch games for free in many pubs across the city and that trend will continue. hat's off to clubs like West Brom who charged us £15 last year and £25 this year, decent prices making football affordable to the average family. I read this morning that the premier league had made a fund available to teams to improve experience for away fans , Stoke are offering free coaches to EVERY away game this season , Norwich doing something similar starting with free coach to Hull, best one so far is Chelsea of all teams offering subsidised rail travel doing a chartered train for Man Utd away at £10 return each. would love it if saints did that picking up at Southampton Central / Parkway and Winchester . StDunko Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 If you can't sell out a saturday 3pm game, not on tv when playing well, with a good side, a big new signing and positive atmosphere, then something seems wrong with the pricing. That obviously is only correct from a fans perspective. If the game was easily sold out in advance then the ticket prices clearly could have been higher and income from the fixture greater, from the clubs perspective. It has been covered on here before that to get the optimum income from a fixture, the club should price high enough so that the last ticket is sold at a premium price (plus booking fee) to the last person to roll up to the stadium just before kick-off. It is clear that we are being run as a business and the fans are the customers, the business wants to get the maximum income from the customers as possible (without alienating them too much). Bank holiday weekend? We rarely sell out our first home game. Loads of people on holiday. Anything over 27 ,000 is really impressive. And there's always something wrong with the pricing - we either sellout and could have charged more or we have empty seats and we should have lowered price. Brussels Saint Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Fear not skinflints, I've seen the future! Having just signed up for Al Jazeera, "watch every game live" and realising that sooner or later no club is going to be able to prevent all games being available on TV/online, the only option to fill stadiums is going to be reduced pricing. Virtually all revenue will come from selling broadcast rights to every PL game available and higher quality TV experiences rather than relying on free dodgy streams. Fans will likely buy a broadcast season ticket for a club or maybe the entire EPL fixtures to pick and choose what they want to watch. This could easily be sold for 15-20 quid/month and represent around 80% of a clubs turnover. In order to generate atmosphere (rather than revenue) in the stadium, clubs will have to reduce the majority of tickets to around 10-15 quid, returning the game to the working man. Those huge majority with the TV packages will likely wish to visit a few times a season and can be sold higher end seating plans and experiences. Its a different model, but after experiencing the AJS service, I cannot see how clubs can maintain the stadium crowds without reducing the cost impact. Professor Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Was keen to go but the ticket price at £41 was too much for my pal and borderline for me so we decided against. On top of the ticket you are looking at £5 parking, £3 programme and £20 road fuel so even without catering that's £110 for the two of us. Really is getting very high for 90 minutes entertainment. Maybe do a match in Sept but can't see being there regularly this season.
