Bailey Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 Joe Jordan was, once again, in attendance at St Mary's today, as was Simon Hunt of Ipswich. I have it on good authority that they (Spurs) are tracking the progress of Lallana and are considering a January bid. Whether he leaves or not is another thing, but AL is more than happy at Saints and has no desire to leave. Also worth mentioning that my source has reiterated that Skacel's move to Ipswich is set to go ahead come January. Maybe losing someone such as Rudi will give us enough resources to fend off interest in Lallana/Surman until the end of the season?
Iowsaintsfan Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 I wouldnt be over fussed if we lossed Rudi if we brought in a proper left back and it would help fend off interest in Lallana and Surman
Wade Garrett Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 I wouldnt be over fussed if we lossed Rudi if we brought in a proper left back and it would help fend off interest in Lallana and Surman Why would it fend off interest in Lallana and Surman? Lowe has already said they could go if they want to.

70's Mike Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 I wouldnt be over fussed if we lossed Rudi if we brought in a proper left back and it would help fend off interest in Lallana and Surman TO many ifs ,
jasonbenali Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 I wouldnt be over fussed if we lossed Rudi if we brought in a proper left back and it would help fend off interest in Lallana and Surman "if we brought in a proper left back" There's your problem right there... It'll be Mills and possibly that Everton Molynew(?) who has yet to play a first team game. Rather that than the two youngsters going.

SaintBobby Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 Why would it fend off interest in Lallana and Surman? Lowe has already said they could go if they want to. Selling Skacel wouldn't fend off interest in other players. But, my best guess is that we need to sell players to appease the bank. In particular, we need to cut the payroll (rather than necessarily generate transfer fees). We've already shipped out a lot of the high earners. Were Rudi to go, it doesn't stop Spurs making an offer for Surman or Lallana, but it might mean we don't have to keep accepting any offer we get for any player.
davec Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 Apparently, Lee Molyneux has already signed from Everton but cannot play till January due to the transfer window and Skacel is definitely off in January. Also, Jack Cork is going back to Chelsea (who want to sell him to Bolton), so JP is looking at Jake Thomson as a ' ball playing' centre back - he played there for a whole season in the U18s and was man of the match in the Youth Cup Semi vs Liverpool a couple of years ago, so could be an interesting move!
chocco boxo Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 If AL went to Spurs even though financially he would do well I think he would go backwards as a player. Like Cranie has found out when HR signs you from Southampton your career goes backwards! Be warned AL.
Bailey Posted 7 December, 2008 Author Posted 7 December, 2008 Interesting comments from davec. I hadn't heard anything about the Cork rumour, and can only hope it's not true. We really need to hang onto him as he's an essential part of our first team. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if Bolton did come in for him. There were rumours in the summer that they were tracking him so this would come as no surprise.
saint_stevo Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 Corks old man is in the backroom team at Bolton
Chez Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 as i have said already skacel deal is agreed honestly? That is ****ing great news. Please someone make my day by telling me John, Saga and Rasiak deals are all done. With these guys off our wage bill we really can start moving forward.
LostBoys Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 I think the worst case scenario is that we will lose Surman Lallana Cork and Scacel in January. I am not sure we would survive all of them going.
saint lard Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 Lallana to Fulham,Baird to return as part of the deal.IMO.
Weston Saint Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 Lallana to Fulham,Baird to return as part of the deal.IMO. Not a chance.
paulwantsapint Posted 7 December, 2008 Posted 7 December, 2008 Lallana to Fulham,Baird to return as part of the deal.IMO. Only if Baird is willing to play for free
Chez Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 Only if Baird is willing to play for free maybe Fulham will pay a percentage of his wages.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 I think the worst case scenario is that we will lose Surman Lallana Cork and Scacel in January. I am not sure we would survive all of them going. In my opinion the most likely departures are Skacel and Schneiderlin; That way all the fans will be happy because their golden boys are still there. It will be a disaster for the club of course but hey, who cares about that.

Spurs are always supposed to be looking at anyone who's got a pair of boots. Latest from the popular press is that they're trying to get Robbie Keane back at cut price, swapping 2 young players and 5 million for him. They desperately need a goalkeeper and probably a central defender. I would doubt if a young midfielder (who can't shoot) is anywhere near the top of their list of priorities.

a1ex2001 Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 you have no idea if so or not Have a look at there squad, they have plenty of central midfield options what they lack is a keeper who can keep and a centre forward or two as backup. For me AL would fill neither option for them so he would be a bit of a luxury allthough I wouldn't put it passed old saggy chops to buy him just to **** us off.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 December, 2008 Posted 8 December, 2008 you have no idea if so or not So what? Surprised at you, being a military man, not appreciating that people look at facts and make a decision or express an opinion based on them. Don't know what this forum is coming to nowadays, there's always someone ready to jump down your throat whatever you say or however you stress that it's just your very own opinion.

I just doubt that Spurs are interested in Lallana, they have no need of him whatsoever, don't like to mention this but they might be looking at Davis, heaven forbid.
