lol @ ''WHO?''. I think they kind of shows up their football knowledge rather than who we've signed.

Silly fools.

Don't think he was a household name round here before we started getting linked.

The KUMB boys think we're fiddling the FFP rules and still believe Jack Collision and their other fantastic Academy products would walk straight into our first 11. Bless 'em.

Good links. So to sum up:

West Ham fans: Shocked, bitter, and reckon they'll still do better than us.

Stoke fans: Shock and trying to decide which of our players to buy next.

Fulham fans: Shock and claiming we've overpaid and have got a better attack in Bent and Berbatov for a fraction of the cost.

Mackem fans: Shock and worried they're falling behind othe clubs. Worried about playing us next.

Cardiff fans: Complimentary.

Fulham fans probably believed that Daily Star (??) article that said he was available for £8m..... :)

And they even now believe that they'll finish above us too, with that pony-tailed donkey leading the line.

I think it's a bit harsh to call him a donkey, he only signed an hour ago ;)

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to the battle of the Pony Tails for my first game of the season next month!

Not an unreasonable claim. Neither Berbatov nor Bent would suit our style of play so no point thinking we should have got them, but if it works out then those two will at the very least match us for goals.

Don't call Osvaldo that until youve seen him play at least. ffs.

edit - sorry didnt see the other quips, but im leaving mine in for posterity.

How do you think Fulham compare our £15m signing of Osvaldo to their record signing - 2001 Steve Marlet £15.5m? Not sure 11 goals in 55 games for a centre forward is that great, and one would hope that Osvaldo does somewhat better.

Carroll will probably be having his hair done - being congenitally injury-prone, has enough time on his hands.

Lambo and Osvaldo V Bent and Berbatov??

do me a favour..

Berbatov scored 15 last season, as did Lambert. Bent's a prolific goalscorer who needs to prove he can do it in a changed league...

To be fair apart from his age I would love to have Berbatov at St Marys. He is a class player and would have suited our system ideally, his vision and movement off the ball is brilliant and he scores as many as SRL. As for Bent they are welcome to him, useless pile of ****.

From the Stoke forum.

He scored 16 goals in Seria A last year, 3rd best goalscorer.

Jovetic scored 13 goals and Man C paid £22m for him...

To be fair to Jovetic, he's not an out and out striker.

I'll be honest, I know absolutely nothing about him other than he's an attacker and he scored 16 goals last season...and I only know that from reading the post above.

I can never be bothered reading the single-player mega threads so miss out on detailed info. Any youtube videos?

Hats off to the Cardiff forum.

They have an inferiority complex due to 90% of their fans being plastic someone else fans 5 years ago.

"Ten or under I would have said yes. 15 million for a club of Southampton's size is ridiculous. Did they learn anything from there neighbors? I would back them to finish ahead of us now any day of the week but at what cost?" - from the Fulham board.

What a knobber, yeah, we learned not to fiddle the taxman and take money from gun-runners.

Maybe if Bent regains his goalscoring form, maybe.

Berba is incredible though, he could trap a comet that man.

I've been reading various comments and I do find the reaction quite interesting. Forums of other clubs are generally populated by those with some knowledge, while those commenting on news paper articles come across as definite arm chair supporters who think that the top six is a closed shop and woe betide any little provincial club that think otherwise. Sure there are plenty of posters who look at us being like petulant children, when in reality they themselves aren't too different - I find the one poster on the Fulham board a classic example.

But I find it a really sad and depressing situation that there are so many people (who might only see football on TV) who really think that the PL has come to the top 6 vs the rest. While the chances are that the top 6 will be populated by the usual suspects (although one has to seriously look whether Arsenal will be there!), it shows the state of the league and how uneven it is. Why are people so happy with that? I hate it and not just because I support Saints. I would love us, Villa, WHU etc to take a CL spot. The top of the table has become too staid and predictable and clubs have become arrogant in thinking that it is there right to finish there.
