Exactly, all crap, all of them, Welbeck is a sack of crap for England too.

6 goals in 7 games for England and a couple of MOTM performances, dont know why we stick with him

Can't agree with you on Sturridge who I think will be far and away England's main striker by April, though I have a new found hatred for Welbeck after my Wilfried Bony last scorer bet at 10/1 yesterday. :(

It's cool I can send some femme fresh your way if you're happy to cover the postage?

Haha, I used my wifes femme fresh in the shower the other day for my man parts and it stung like hell for hours. Pretty sure that wasn't meant to happen given the claims on the bottle. Must only work for vag I guess.

Yes.

Aren't they around £100m in debt as well?

Yep and I believe they have to spend big money on the Olympic Stadium to accommodate its football and athletic capabilities and that due to a recent deal with British Athletics they won't be able to play any pre-season friendlies at OS due to Athletics events being held in July and early August. Yes you can understand Mr Gold being a tad envious of us

By the end of the window we will have got rid of a fair few burdens to the wage bill too.

Nothing remotely on a par with the wages we've taken on, but frankly, so what ? I doubt we're even making a loss. Could probably do with producing a kit people want to buy now though.

It is an unfortunate side-effect of having a well-known unpopular position on one player that people are unable to determine if you feel the same about others.

Ill concede Lambert fitted far better into the England fray then I thought he would, Id like to see him against better opposition though.

As per the other players, carroll included they are better than the bandwagon stock quotes that get chucked around like facts these days.

Can't disagree with that, though I did point out he's probably better suited to England's Plan B than either Carroll or than he is to Saints' system.

Carroll has his strengths, but having the ball at his feet is not one of them.

Id agree somewhat with that, as you said you can play the ball off of Lambert whereas Id argue that Carroll is best employed in the heskey mould, i.e a battering ram, though Carroll is better at finding the net then heskey and certainly more mobile than both.

Carroll has his uses, fits the WHU tactics very well, and although he isnt brilliantly technical on the floor he is probably acceptable in a hold up player sort of way. Win it, pass it, get into position. Very good in the air, decent pace and composed infront of goal.

Funny how opinion changes so quick, good at Newcastle, underated Wngland future CF and 35m later is league one standard at best.

Dagliesh certainly did very well in his attempt to ruin in form footballers during his short tenure.

Heskey was actually very mobile and agile in his Leicester and early Liverpool years, and was comfortably better than Carroll has shown for anyone other than Newcastle up until about 2003 - agree what you say about him being good at getting it down and laying it off, but he's not a patch on Lambert in terms of vision and execution when facing the goal with the ball at his feet, and no more effective at running at players - even though he's faster and should be able to go past players he just doesn't have the control. I haven't watched enough of Carroll's movement off the ball or closing down to know if he was any good at that.

These signings are a bit worrying to be honest. We don't have any assurance Cortese isn't going to do a Poopey. Nobody here knows if we can afford these transfer fees and wages - all we can do is HOPE and TRUST Cortese.... exactly the same as the Poopey fans did before they ended up penniless in League 2.

I don't think Cortese is going to ruin the club, but I have to accept this is based on blind hope rather than any sound judgement.

Yes, there is an element of trust that both Saints and Pompey fans are/were bestowing upon their respective owners but that's where the similarities end.

Pompey fans knew about the dubious background behind their chain of owners yet decided to stick their collective heads in the sand so they could wallow in the 'glory' days, funded by imaginary money.

We have looked into the background of our owner(s),as much as Google will reveal, and haven't found anything untoward. Ergo, our "trust" is based on somewhat sounder foundations than that of Pompey's.

Yes, the Cortese / Liebherr ownership of Saints may turn out to be a big financial disaster but we can't be accused of "seeing it coming" because the danger signals that were glaring Pompey in the face simply aren't there.

At least we're asking the right questions about it... whereas Pompey fans seem to have stopped asking questions about their current owners...

I am as certain as I possibly can be that WHU have a much higher wage bill than us. Add this to the amount of they debt they have, again, especially when compared to ours and I think Gold would be better keeping his mouth shut!!

Come to think of it, he is probably still bitter about us getting automatic promotion ahead of them; after they spunked a fortune to achieve it. I am still gutted they won the play-offs. It would have been funny as f... had they not gone up.
