Song for Osvaldo!?

Scrap that I've been watching this lad for a while, he is the real deal as everyone can see. Happy with the business we've done this transfer window. NC and MP are serious grafters and to all those moaners that are impatient at the lack of activity...I don't think a team other than city has bought better than us. Top 8 for me now.

We don't need administration

Saggy chops or Rupert Lowe

We've got Cortese in the boardroom

He brought us Pablo Osvaldo

Our! Striker! Pablo Osvaldo!

Actually great. Just a question of whether it would catch on.

Maybe rework the last line to:

Hey! Pablo! Score the Saints a goal!

Or not.

He don't need no education

He has got great ball control

He had enough of AS Roma

His name is Pablo Osvaldooooo....

Hey keeper ! You can't stop Pablo

All in all Osvaldo, has scored another great goal

He don't need no education

He has got great ball control

He had enough of AS Roma

His name is Daniel not Pablo

Hey Daniel, score us all a goal

All in all he's just another brick in the wall!

Maybe....maybe not....

Some call him Pablo, but he likes Daniel

I'm going for the 70s one some of us used for Peter Osgood...

"Oh, Oh, Oh, Ossss...sie, Ossss...sie,

I'd walk a million miles for one of your goals,

Oh, Ossss...sie!"

...not the best example but the Jocks do it pretty well

Quite like that, but surely the lyrics would be better as...

"Oooosvaaaaaaaaldo, Osvaaaaaaaaldo..." etc.

Taken from this article: http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/espnfcunited/id/6474?cc=4716 (Read it all, as you'll see why this song means something to him).

A fan of The Rolling Stones, Osvaldo's favourite song of theirs is 'Wild Horses'. "There's nothing better," Osvaldo commented. Unlike one of its most famous lyrics, however, he told Sportweek: "I'd let them drag me away." When speaking of life in general rather than specifically of his situation at Roma, he has said: "I always think happiness is to be found elsewhere."

How about making him feel welcome and at home here, by giving him his favourite song? :)

Transfer windows - are easy to do

We weren't what you wanted, then Poch talked to you

Class International - and top of our plans

We just couldn't let you slide through our hands

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Daniel Osvaldo, we love watching you play

We watched you suffer - a cruel Roma pain

Now you're Southampton, so be happy again

Cos no missing chances, or offsides sometimes

Could make us feel bitter, or treat you unkind

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Daniel Osvaldo, we love watching you play

I know I've dreamed you, playing for The Saints

We hope you find home here, and we hope you hate Skates ;)

Faith has been given, four years you signed

Let's do some winning, an' have some good times

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Daniel Osvaldo, we love watching you play

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Daniel Osvaldo, we love watching you play

It's probably sh*t - (tired rushed job) - but maybe a verse or two and the chorus might work. ;) :p

Alright... Long chants don't work, (although I always loved city's kinkladze wonderwall chant) and they are impossible to write and sound dreadful written down, but hey, maybe some elements might work. I stole ball control from someone earlier... Anyway.

He don't need no education,

Clever feet and ball control,

Pass to Pablo, then you're laughing,

Goalkeepers don't have a hope.

Hey, Daniel! You can run the show!

Osvaldo, put another kick in the goal...

Osvaldo, put another kick in the goal...

Why does everyone try to do this with every player we sign ?

We know that at the end of the day it will either be something to the tune of "The Sloop John B"

or in this case Ossie Ossie Ossie Oi Oi Oi.

Football fans unless it is a morning kickoff have mostly had a skinfull of beer (and even then) and can barely remember there own name let alone words to a tune that somebody has just made up and they had not heard before.

"Another Brick" is definitely seeming the one that would sound best as a chant, all things considered.

Here's a slight revision on what has been shared so far:

He don't need no education

Great technique and ball control

He's got no love for AS Roma

His name is Daniel not Pablo

Hey Daniel, Daniel Osvaldo!

Score a goal Daniel! We'll all go f*ckin' mental!

Score a goal Daniel! We'll all go f*ckin' mental!

Needs to be sung properly too for full effect. Not at 100 miles per hour, replete with traditional clapping seals. ;) :p

Do it right, and it could sound class.

It is my imagination or have we finally signed the player we were looking for?

We were looking for a striker

And now we've signed Daniel Osvaldo......

To the tune of Oasis Cigarettes and Alcohol.

This works and would be good and original. So hard for new ones to catch on though.

Ambition! We are trying to match the club's with our lofty chant expectations...

Like it but maybe in line with tune above in bold may sound better
